Apocalypse Gachapon
Chapter 2326: Didn't succeed but didn't fail
Can't you stop bragging for once?
Yisewei rolled her eyes, already worrying about Ye Zhongming in her heart.
She knew her father very well—a man who was orthodox to the point of being a bit old-fashioned. Under his leadership over the years, the She Ke Star people hadn't made any leaps, but they had steadily advanced, constantly solidifying their foundation.
Though they lacked in high-end combat power, that wasn't the leader's fault—strength depended on timing, circumstances, and people. If one couldn't break through to the peak expert realm, there was nothing to be done.
Beiyin's style had now become the race's standard—every clansman cultivated and developed pragmatically.
Look at the people Beiyin promoted and valued—they were all practical types. He disliked boastful people.
Ye Zhongming had indeed shown great potential and brought visible changes to the Star-Eye Clan.
But in Isewei's and Beiyin's view, this was more due to his connection with Jie Su, since they didn't know the details of the transactions between Ye Zhongming and the Su Clan.
That was a secret between the two races, and even Isewei, despite her close relationship with them, didn't know everything.
So Ye Zhongming's words sounded like empty boasting to the She Ke Star people.Saying the Huo'er Star people weren't even his target, and that the Slave Race was—Isewei shook her head. The Slave Race was a nightmare that all the myriad races had been helpless against for ages, and someone not even a great expert claimed he could deal with them?
And with such conviction—how could that leave a good impression?
Indeed, hearing this, Beiyin said nothing, simply turned and walked away without another word.
Clearly, he felt there was no point in talking to Ye Zhongming.
"If our Star-Eye Clan can become a mid-level race within a year, will you be willing to leave the Huo'er Star camp and establish a new third pole with the Su Clan?"
Ye Zhongming suddenly said.
Beiyin stopped, turned back, and looked at Ye Zhongming. "Do you know the criteria for a mid-level race? It's not about occupying a small city on a survivor fortress."
Ye Zhongming nodded. "I know the so-called twelve rules. I'll meet them."
"A mid-level race won't impress you, I understand. But what I'm saying is that once the Star-Eye Clan becomes mid-level, I hope to make an equal exchange with you—each getting what we need. After that, if we prove that our power won't be weaker than some ordinary major races, then I'll have my own demands."
Beiyin found this kid really knew how to paint a rosy picture, but he had to admit, he was curious to hear what he had to say.
"What are your demands?"
Ye Zhongming smiled confidently. "First, one of the three voices of the new third pole. Second, Lock Poison Flower."
For the first time, Beiyin had the illusion that this braggart seemed to have clear goals in everything.
"The She Ke Star people don't have the Lock Poison Flower." Beiyin said.
"But the Elik Plant Race does." Ye Zhongming answered without pause.
At that, even Yisewei and the others felt that Ye Zhongming had come here with very clear intentions—even if he was bragging, it was bragging with a purpose.
The Elik Plant Race was a very special race, also known as the Tree Herders. Their specialty was tending to various plants.
Everything they needed came from plants—long lives, various medicines, planets most suited for life, peaceful minds, and magical abilities.
Except... they were not good at fighting.
Because they despised violent plant genes, they wouldn't tend aggressive plants, and thus never gained powerful combat abilities.
By the time they realized this was a problem, their bodies had lost the ability to accept those genes.
Their race was a treasure trove, yet they had no means to protect it—the fate of such a race was predictable.
Especially when powerful races like the Gurui Star Race discovered how much they could gain from the Elik Plant Race, they struck without mercy.
The result was near-extinction of the Elik Plant Race, saved only by the She Ke Star people, who protected the last small group—and these survivors lived quietly within She Ke Star territory.
This was a minor-to-middling secret, circulating among supermajor races, but unknown to others.
Ye Zhongming knowing this showed he had a high-level information source.
Lock Poison Flower—one of the main ingredients for the Library Palace's antidote. The Elik Plant Race had one, but unless through the She Ke Star people, no one could access the few remaining Elik Plant Race members, let alone obtain the flower.
Though called a poison flower, it was actually a life-saving medicine. It could revive wood-element lifeforms on the verge of death or even within two hours of dying, restoring them to full health.
The reason the Gurui Royal Clan had targeted them was largely because this Lock Poison Flower was so valuable—it could save someone from severe injury or failed breakthrough without any lasting side effects.
"Agreeing to you costs me nothing, because those things are impossible." Beiyin turned back and walked on. "Your thirst for power is strong—it will blind you. You'd better not let your actions threaten Yisewei, or I'll kill you myself."
"I'm not that waste Kunzuo."
……………………
The conversation with Beiyin was neither a success nor a failure, but whatever the outcome, it maintained the status quo.
The two supermajor races, the Su Clan and the She Ke Star people, along with the Reina Star people in the shadows, had seemingly held back the enraged Huo'er Star people.
This allowed the Su Clan, the Star-Eye Clan, and others who had participated in the planet hunting ground to withdraw unscathed.
After all, the Huo'er Star people weren't about to go to war with all the myriad races over a prince of middling rank and a peak expert.
So they could only bicker in the assembly, but everyone knew that in the end, this would be resolved through compromise—since the Huo'er Star people had no direct evidence.
But at this point, one race jumped out and threw everything into uncertainty.
That race was called the Taros Red Dwarves.
