Apocalypse Escape: Day One of Survival
Chapter 443 - 439: Emergency Takedown
"What’s going on?" A few people in respiratory masks ran out of the sealed laboratory, frowning at the chaotic scene in the main control room.
"Minister, this is bad. The system’s backend has been hacked again by that black-hat AI of unknown origin. It completely wrecked the Crystal Core prize wheel project we just launched."
"What do you mean? Speak clearly." The minister’s voice, tinged with anxiety and anger, came from behind his respiratory mask.
"It means the black-hat AI hacked our backend, and without uploading any Crystal Cores, it took everything from the backend warehouse for free!"
The minister was so furious he nearly fell over backward, almost unable to support his own weight.
Those beside him quickly reached out to steady him, saying in a flurry, "Minister, Minister, please take care of yourself, Minister."
"Lock down the system warehouse, now!"
"We locked it, but it was too late. They were incredibly fast and ruthless, and they withdrew everything they’d drawn all at once."
"What did they get??" The minister’s voice was practically trembling!
"Nu-Nutrient Liquids! Basic, upgraded, advanced, and supreme versions of Nutrient Liquid."
The minister breathed a slight sigh of relief. "Is it just Nutrient Liquid?"
"N-no."
"Then why didn’t you say it all at once!" the minister practically roared.
"Y-yes, yes!" the man stammered, his voice trembling. "A talking automatic massage chair, a pair of ordinary-looking boxing gloves, Heaven and Earth Jumping Shoes, and an Overload Defense Vest."
These items ranged from white to purple card rarity. The minister felt he could probably bear the loss.
But as the team member continued, things took a turn for the worse.
"Several V8 Homemade Superpower Guns, an L9 Long-range Shooting Gun, an L10... and bullets, special superpower explosives."
The minister’s face turned completely black.
Finally, the team member finished in one breath, wailing, "Mutated Cannibal Vine Seeds! A Mutated Adult White Tiger! A Divine Stone!!"
"How is that possible???" The minister’s brow twitched uncontrollably, as if his whole body might jump away.
"Bullshit!" he roared. "Are you telling me all these things were plundered by a single black-hat AI??"
"Y-yes, Minister. We, we can’t track the black-hat AI’s location, but... but we have a feeling it was the work of an Earth person."
The minister fell straight backward.
His assistants and the others scrambled to catch him, crying out tragically, "Minister!"
"Impossible, impossible, impossible! Didn’t you guys set the parameters for this prize wheel? How many draws does it take to get a grand prize like the Divine Stone?"
"T-two... two... two thousand draws."
The minister hit the floor with a THUD.
’In other words, that piece-of-shit black-hat AI snuck into their backend and helped itself to two thousand free draws???’
"Wh-what do we do n-now?"
"What are you standing around for?! Get that damned prize wheel offline!! Take it down!!"
The minister’s roars echoed throughout the backend control room, reverberating...
Xie Ning couldn’t be bothered with the chaos she’d caused in the X Realm.
She immediately ran into her farmhouse Space and came face to face with the enormous adult White Tiger.
"Do you know who I am?" Xie Ning asked.
The tiger’s face stared at her indifferently.
Xie Ning began to secretly roll up her sleeves and used her spiritual power to summon the damn parrot sleeping in a tree far away.
"Let me tell you, I’m not going to fight you just yet. Let’s be reasonable. You’re huge. It’ll be a real pain to raise you."
"You need to learn to be grateful."
The parrot flew over and, from a distance, saw its master chatting with a gigantic White Tiger.
"HOLY CRAP, HOLY CRAP!" The parrot started squawking noisily before it even got close. "A Mutated White Tiger as big as a mountain! This One has never seen anything like it! It’s huge, huge, huge."
Xie Ning shot it a look and commanded it with her spiritual power, ’Quit your squawking and help me control this White Tiger with your spiritual power, in case it suddenly attacks.’
Unexpectedly, before the girl and the bird could make a move, the expressionless White Tiger suddenly lay down. It plopped down lazily beside the field, tilting its head toward Xie Ning.
Xie Ning froze for a moment, then cautiously approached. "I’m telling you, if you suddenly attack me, I’ll stew you into a soup."
"Just admit you’re scared. No need for the empty threats." The parrot flapped its wings beside her, teasing, but its spiritual power remained locked on the White Tiger, just as Xie Ning had instructed.
Out of animal instinct, it could sense the Mutated White Tiger’s immense power. It was so strong that even its own High-level Spiritual Power might not be able to lock it down permanently.
"Look, I don’t know your story. Or how you ended up as a prize wheel reward for the people from the X Realm. But since you were being sold off as an item, it means you’re definitely not on good terms with them."
"See? You were locked up in a warehouse before, and now I’ve set you free. You should accept me as your big boss, right?"
The parrot flapped its wings. "Hey, tiger head, This One is your second-in-command. Get it straight."
Xie Ning glanced at the parrot. "You’re a male, aren’t you?"
"So, if you agree to follow me obediently and get along with us, will you give me your paw?"
The parrot stopped flapping its wings. "Woman, it’s not a dog. It’s a tiger."
Xie Ning completely ignored the chattering parrot, moved closer to the White Tiger, and had just extended her own small hand when the tiger’s enormous forepaw cooperatively moved toward her.
’In an instant, the gloomy mood from my unlucky gacha pulls was completely swept away!’
Xie Ning held the White Tiger’s paw and gave it a little shake, then carefully stroked its fur. Her mood improved immensely.
"How about I call you Little Bai Bai from now on?"
The parrot flapped its wings and squawked, "This One thinks that’s a terrible name! This One thinks Mr. Tiger sounds much more majestic."
Xie Ning turned a deaf ear to the damn parrot’s squawking, patting the tiger’s paw with a grin. "I’m going to form a spiritual link with you now. Don’t resist, okay?"
’I’ll have to find a proper place to keep this big tiger later, so it doesn’t scare Grandpa and Grandma.’
Xie Ning formed the spiritual link very quickly, and soon she could feel a faint, almost imperceptible connection to the White Tiger’s spiritual power.
"You two wait here for a moment. I need to go out for a bit."
The situation just now had been too urgent. She’d had a sudden, strong premonition and hastily had Little Spider move everything out of the system’s prize inventory and into her Dimensional Space. Now, she had no idea what was happening outside.
Xie Ning popped outside and saw Little Spider staring blankly at the giant screen in the air.
"What’s wrong?" Xie Ning went over to take a look and couldn’t help but chuckle.
The prize wheel interface of the system’s shop had been replaced by a giant crying face.
Below it was a line of large, bold, red text: System undergoing emergency maintenance. Please try again later.
"AHAHAHAHAHA!" Xie Ning couldn’t help but burst out laughing. "My friend, they must have gotten so scared that they shut down the prize wheel channel, didn’t they?"
Little Spider typed furiously on a virtual keyboard with a flurry of clicks. "Main Body Ningning, the X Realm is probably searching for me with all their might right now. You should put me in the Space to lie low for a while."
