Chapter 180: Chapter 119: With Crushing Force

Xu Mo charged into the chaotic fray like a whirlwind, the slipstream from his movement even scattering the acrid stench of blood and decay that filled the air. However, the moment his eyes swept over Lu Chuan’s group of five, his heart sank.

Up close, Lu Chuan and his group were in an even worse state than they had appeared from a distance. Not only were all five injured, but more importantly, the wounds on two of them had taken on an unnatural, bluish-black tinge. This was especially true for the bald, muscular man with the Shield; around a gash on his arm left by a claw, the flesh had already begun to fester slightly, and the blood flowing from it was dark and murky. It was a clear sign of an advanced zombie virus infection!

At this rate, it wouldn’t be long before one of them succumbed and turned completely into a mindless, killing zombie. When that happened, he wouldn’t be saving comrades, but welcoming his own doom!

’Didn’t I just walk right into a trap?’

The thought was like a splash of icy water, instantly jolting Xu Mo to his senses. He had to end this fast. Eliminate all threats before these people turned, then get out immediately.

In a flash, a fierce light glinted in Xu Mo’s eyes. He held nothing back. Taking a deep breath, the surging power within him roared to life, circulating at an unprecedented speed. A scorching wave of strength instantly suffused his entire being.

SWOOSH!

His body left behind little more than a faint afterimage as the dull, lusterless Triangular Spike in his hand seemed to break through the constraints of space. Moving at a speed the naked eye could barely follow, it pierced with unerring accuracy into the temple of the nearest Agile Zombie, which was pouncing toward the young female team member’s back.

SQUELCH!

The Agile Zombie’s pounce came to an abrupt halt. Its momentum carried it forward for two stumbling steps before it collapsed limply to the ground.

Without even glancing at the result, Xu Mo flicked his wrist, smoothly extracting the Triangular Spike from the zombie’s skull and trailing a slurry of red and white matter. At the same time, his footwork shifted. In a single, fluid turn, he cut into the heart of the melee like a phantom, taking a firm stand beside Lu Chuan and the others, who were panting for breath and barely holding on back-to-back.

The entire sequence—from his charge to the kill to his new position—was as smooth as flowing water, taking less than a single breath.

To Lu Chuan’s group, it was just a blur. A black shadow flashed past, an imminent threat was neutralized, and then a figure clad head-to-toe in black combat gear, his face concealed by a bandana that revealed only a pair of cold, sharp eyes, abruptly appeared within their defensive circle.

Expressions of shock and vigilance appeared on all five of their faces. ’Who is this person? He doesn’t look like any of our teammates. And he’s so fast! His technique is so ruthless and precise!’

However, Xu Mo paid no heed to their astonished gazes, showing no intention of communicating. His movements never paused. The instant he steadied himself, the muscles in his right arm bulged as the power of his entire body, coiled like a spring, transferred instantly into his limb.

WHOOSH—!

He hurled the blood-stained Triangular Spike like a projectile, throwing it with a speed and force that defied imagination. The spike itself even emitted a faint whistle as it cut through the air.

Its target: another Agile Zombie to their front and side, which was trying to get around the muscular man with the Shield to attack the team member wielding the Electric Short Staff.

The Agile Zombie seemed to sense the danger. It twisted its head, let out a shriek, and tried to dodge, but the Triangular Spike, thrown with Xu Mo’s full strength, was simply too fast.

CRACK!

With a sickening crunch, the spike’s custom-designed, three-edged tip pierced the Agile Zombie’s relatively fragile eye socket as easily as a hot knife through butter. The sheer kinetic force snapped the creature’s head back violently as the entire spike buried itself almost completely, leaving only a small portion of the hilt exposed.

The Agile Zombie’s shriek was cut short. Its body convulsed violently twice before it fell backward, stiff as a board.

In the blink of an eye, two Agile Zombies, creatures known for their speed, had been instantly killed.

At that moment, two Agile Zombies and two Strength Zombies remained in the fray. They seemed stunned by the sudden slaughter, their attacks faltering for a split second.

But for Xu Mo, that hesitation was more than enough.

He didn’t even waste time retrieving his Triangular Spike. With a dip and flick of his right shoulder, the Barrett Anti-Material Sniper Rifle slung on his back slid down as if alive, and he caught it securely in a one-handed grip.

Against targets at such point-blank range, Xu Mo didn’t even need to aim.

BOOM!!!

The deafening gunshot once again shattered the brief, deathly silence.

Xu Mo had aimed at the massive thigh of a Strength Zombie slightly farther away, which was raising its Mutated Bone Hammer for a strike. The .50 BMG Armor-Piercing Bullet struck with devastating force, completely obliterating the base of its thigh. The Strength Zombie’s massive body lost all support and crashed to the ground, letting out a roar of agony. It was temporarily neutralized.

After firing the first shot, immense recoil traveled up the rifle. An ordinary person firing a weapon like this one-handed would have had their shoulder dislocated, or at the very least, been wracked with excruciating pain. But Xu Mo’s body only hitched for a moment. His feet were planted as if rooted to the ground, and he simply absorbed the force. The power surged through his veins as his muscle fibers vibrated, efficiently dissipating the shock.

With almost no pause, Xu Mo relied on his powerful body control to work the bolt with lightning speed.

BOOM!
