Apocalypse Arrives: I Become a Powerhouse by Scavenging
Chapter 553 - 543: A Heaven-Defying Treatment Method
Under the butler’s command, men continuously added nutrient liquid and medicinal herbs into the wooden tub.
The supply of nutrient liquid and medicinal herbs in the warehouse began to dwindle at a visible rate.
In contrast, the old man’s complexion visibly grew ruddy and lustrous. Even the wrinkles on his face diminished, and his once-withered body began to fill out.
Aside from his lack of hair, one could say he looked years younger.
Moira Lynch, however, knew the treatment had only just begun. Everything happening now was merely superficial.
The old man’s internal condition was still extremely depleted. This was primarily due to his advanced age; his body’s metabolism was nearly zero.
Based on Moira Lynch’s assessment, this body was at least three hundred years old.
An age like that was considered advanced even in the interstellar era.
She gazed at the faint black ring encircling the white flame.
First, she used her Annihilation Talent to destroy all the senescent cells in the old man’s body. Then, throughout this process, she would continuously stimulate the growth of new cells to jump-start the body’s metabolism.
If the few medical personnel watching in shock knew what Moira Lynch was doing, their jaws would drop. No, it was more dramatic than that—their entire worldview would likely shatter.
Because Moira Lynch’s methods went beyond just burning one’s bridges; she was outright defying the natural order.
It was like having a patient with a diseased internal organ or body part and, instead of considering any treatment, simply cutting out the afflicted area and growing a new one from scratch.
What Moira Lynch was currently doing was completely replacing every cell in the old man’s body, right down to his blood.
The benefit of this approach was a permanent solution. If successful, the old man would be completely reborn.
But if it failed... even Moira Lynch had no idea what the consequences would be.
Which was why Moira Lynch was, in fact, ready to bolt at a moment’s notice.
The butler continued to direct the staff to pour more nutrient liquid and medicinal herbs into the wooden tub.
Throughout this time, Moira Lynch remained seated on a stool two meters from the tub. Every hour, she would conjure a ball of white flame in her hand and toss it toward the tub.
About half a day passed in this manner, and more than half of the warehouse’s stock of nutrient liquid and medicinal herbs had been consumed.
Fortunately, the rate at which the tub consumed the nutrient liquid and herbs began to slow, allowing the butler to breathe a sigh of relief.
After all, while more nutrient liquid could be delivered promptly, the herbs required more time. He was genuinely afraid the warehouse’s supply wouldn’t hold out, which could jeopardize the treatment.
As dusk fell, Moira Lynch felt a pang of hunger.
Seeing that everyone else was busy, Moira Lynch felt it would be awkward to ask someone to prepare food for her. Instead, she simply took a piece of bread from her spatial storage and began to eat.
Seeing her movement, the butler finally realized that Moira Lynch hadn’t eaten since she arrived. "My apologies, Miss Lynn," he said, his face filled with remorse. "That was my oversight."
Moira Lynch waved his concern away. "Saving a life is the priority. I’m fine with just grabbing a bite."
She said that, but a few minutes later, a woman dressed as a maid entered, pushing a cart laden with an assortment of gourmet dishes.
Moira Lynch, who had only eaten a single piece of bread to tide herself over, was instantly captivated by the spread.
"This was all prepared especially for you. Please, enjoy yourself."
At this, Moira Lynch didn’t bother with pleasantries. She was genuinely starving, and after all, nothing is more important than a meal.
After a quick check on the old man’s condition, Moira Lynch went over to the cart and began to eat.
She was so hungry that she ate quickly, but her movements were graceful, not crude.
Just as she was engrossed in her meal, the old man in the tub suddenly let out a pained groan, drawing everyone’s attention.
Hearing the sound, Moira Lynch didn’t go over to check.
She had Patience and the Healing Device monitoring the old man’s condition twenty-four seven, so she knew this was just a normal reaction.
’After all, we’re talking about eliminating every single senescent cell.’
’Cells may be tiny, but there are an astronomical number of them.’
’And in the old man’s case, it’s practically the same as replacing his entire body.’
’What’s happening now is probably just the immune system’s last stand.’
Just then, the butler walked over and asked cautiously, "Miss Lynn, the master seems to be in great discomfort. Would you please take a look?"
Moira Lynch was about to tell him it wasn’t necessary, but when she met the butler’s stubborn and determined gaze, she knew it would be pointless.
To avoid any hassle, Moira Lynch put down her food and followed the butler to the old man’s side.
After a cursory inspection, looking him over from one side to the other, Moira Lynch said earnestly, "This is just a normal reaction. There’s nothing to worry about."
According to the data from Patience and the Healing Device, the old man’s physical condition was heading in the right direction.
Even if they stopped the treatment immediately, she was confident the old man could live another five or six years without a problem.
Before walking away, Moira Lynch noticed the flame in the tub showed signs of weakening. Even though it wasn’t time yet, she tossed another ball of flame inside.
Seeing this, the butler hesitated for a moment before finally voicing the question on his mind. "Miss Lynn, if I may ask, how long will this treatment continue?"
Moira Lynch considered this for a moment. "Three days, if things go quickly. Five, if they’re slow. However, your master should regain consciousness by tomorrow, though he’ll still need to remain in the tub for the treatment to continue."
A look of delighted surprise spread across the butler’s face at her answer.
The old man had woken up once before, but he had fallen unconscious again after the treatment began. Without any instruments to provide concrete data, the butler had been feeling deeply uneasy.
In contrast to the butler’s excitement, Moira Lynch remained perfectly calm.
Suddenly, a thought struck her. ’Did I forget something?’
Just as Moira Lynch was trying to remember what she had forgotten, her Intelligent Brain suddenly displayed an incoming video call. The caller was identified as Shane Rhodes.
’Ah, now I remember. I forgot to notify Shane and the other two.’
She accepted the call, and Shane Rhodes’s face appeared on her screen. His brow was furrowed in a clear expression of displeasure.
Looking closer, she could see he was even wearing an apron.
"Where are you?" Shane Rhodes asked, his voice low and stern.
"I’m... I’m out." Moira Lynch’s eyes shifted away, her voice tinged with guilt.
