Another World Mall
Chapter 1158: Clearer
"How is everyone?" Clovis asked. He looked outside, watching how many people were still suffering.
A lot of people were just living without any purpose. They didn’t think they could do anything else.
When they were trying to camp outside, they would be harassed by the creatures without having any weapons to fend them off.
They could still somehow put more effort into farming, but that was all they could do. Using wood was possible, which was why a lot of buildings in this city had been replaced with wood.
Their civilization had been reduced to the past, where woods and stones were the main materials.
Still, it was extremely hard to procure those materials. If they ventured off too far, they might get attacked by a large group of monsters and die. Without any protection, they would also die.
To get protection, they needed people strong enough to wield their weapons. However, their weapons ended up being too weak to even follow them.
Unfortunately, they didn’t have materials to create weapons strong enough. They didn’t have the resources to create a facility that would allow them to even create that kind of weapon.
So, their movements were limited.
If they fought empty-handed, they would be more prone to injuries. Injuries at a time like this had a very high rate of dying. There was no medicine. There was no facility to mass produce medicine either.
In other words, they were lacking a lot of things to create a proper environment for them to gradually rebuild their civilization.
Meanwhile, those monsters were simply too strong.
"It doesn’t look very good, to be honest." Melody came to him with a few documents. "If we continue like this, we can probably last for another few years. Food itself is not too much of a concern, but the more we fight like this, the more injuries we sustain.
"Gradually, our power will decline and hope will be gone. We don’t even know whether there are still people living out there or not." Melody shook her head helplessly.
Clovis let out a long sigh. "We have tried everything."
"Just one more thing. We haven’t tried your power yet."
"We don’t know if that’s going to be helpful, though. If it’s not enough, what will you do?"
"Then we lose all hope. We might even have to search for a new place to see if there are still survivors. If there are survivor bases, we won’t hesitate to go there."
"You guys are having a hard time following me."
"Not at all. Without you, we would have died somewhere."
"Yeah, without me, you could be free from this torture."
"I still think living is better than dying. Even if this base ends up falling into ruins, I will still follow you. I’m going to survive with you. I will follow you as we go around the world. If we die somewhere, it’ll be fine. If we find another survivor base that is living better than us, we can settle there. The girls are thinking the same thing. In fact, all our core members are like that. So, don’t give up." Melody rested her head on Clovis’ shoulder.
"I’m not going to give up. How far have we checked so far?"
"For the time being, we have checked everything within a 60 km radius. Unfortunately, it’s really hard to expand after this. We don’t have the route to transport or equipment to protect that supply." Melody sighed.
"If only I could utilize my power..."
"That’s probably the best, but it’s not like we’re out of options yet. Hana has given me an idea on how to maybe trick your power."
"Trick my own power?"
"Yes. To use your power, what you need is the value of money. In our current situation, there is some value, but the fact that your power doesn’t recognize it means it wants the value of a currency.
"There’s no value in currency if there’s no trade or comparison to other currencies. In other words, what we need is to create a system that has that value.
"We will create a world where currency exchange is still possible. This way, you will be able to upgrade it. If this system doesn’t work, we will have no choice but to come up with other methods. If this system works, we will let you continue until you come out yourself.
"If we can utilize your power to its full potential, I believe that we will be able to overcome this crisis. People can live with a bit more hope.
"We will gradually retake some places to gather their raw materials and improve our base as much as possible.
"I really want to make this base the biggest hope on the planet. The base of hope." Melody held Clovis’ hand. "So, I won’t give up. We will find a way to utilize your abilities."
"Hopefully, we can find it." Clovis nodded. "I don’t know anything other than fighting, though."
"Don’t worry. I will prepare everything. You’ve just got to deal with the rest."
"Fine, fine. I believe in you and the others. I’m really fortunate to have you guys with me. As I promised before, I won’t give up as long as there’s still one person behind me." Clovis smiled.
"Right?" Melody smiled.
Clovis opened his eyes, realizing that the scenery had changed. He had just had another dream.
It had been a month since the last dream. It looked like he would really get dreams or more like memories from time to time until his synchronization rate reached 100%. Once that happened, the two of them would merge into one Clovis.
He suspected that as he grew closer and closer to Tier 9, he would get more and more dreams. That was why he had no choice but to change his approach.
He could fight outside, but he could only absorb essence when they were back. During the night, his team would focus on protecting him in case he had another dream because he ate the ingredients from the mall.
The blurry picture of the real world was gradually becoming clearer in his mind.
