"We have a massive problem," Ken announced coldly. His deep, echoing voice filled the tiny bedroom. It sounded absolute. "The corrupt politicians are using new toys. They summoned a demon general into the capital city today. Her name was Vespera."

Ryu clenched his massive fists. He glared at the floor. "A demon general? They dare to summon filth into your city, Supreme One? I will find the summoners! I will burn them to ash!"

"Lower your voice, Ryu," Ken ordered sharply. "Naomi is sleeping down the hall. I do not want to wake her up."

"Forgive me, my Lord," Ryu whispered instantly. He kept his head bowed.

Leviathan smiled a cruel, wicked smile. "Demons from the Netherworld are very tricky, Master. They require an immense amount of dark mana to cross the dimensional boundary. A normal politician cannot summon a general. They need a specific catalyst. They need an anchor."

Ken nodded slowly. "Exactly. They used an item."

Ken looked directly at Jin. The magical researcher tapped the screen of his blue tablet. Jin pulled up a vast database of forbidden magical artifacts.

"I analyzed the magical residue from the ballroom, Boss," Jin reported clearly. He swiped his finger across the glowing screen. "Leviathan is correct. The politicians used a highly restricted, ancient artifact. They used a forbidden magic book."

"A magic book," Ken repeated flatly.

"Yes," Jin confirmed. "The residual mana signature matches a legendary text. It is a grimoire of dark magic. It is called the Ode to a Nightmare."

The name hung in the cold air of the bedroom.

Karna narrowed his silver eyes. "The Ode to a Nightmare. I have heard whispers of this book in the black markets. It is said to contain spells that can shatter reality. It can summon entities from the deepest voids."

Ken slumped his shoulders just a tiny bit. He thought about the forbidden book. He used his flawless anime logic to process the information.

"This is predictable," Ken thought to himself casually. "This is like that famous anime with the cursed notebook. A bored person finds a dark book. They write things in the book. Terrible things happen. It is a very dangerous plot device. If the bad guys keep using this book, they will summon an entire army of demons. That sounds like a massive amount of cardio. I refuse to fight an entire demon army."

Ken looked back at his captains. His dark eyes were utterly merciless.

"The corrupt politicians possess the Ode to a Nightmare," Ken stated firmly. "They are using this book to bring monsters into my city. They are trying to cause chaos. I will not allow this to continue."

Ken pulled his hands out of his pockets. He crossed his arms over his chest. He projected an aura of complete, unyielding authority.

This story originates from a different website. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.

"We are going to find this book," Ken declared. "We are going to steal it. We will shut down their summoning operation. I want this problem solved immediately."

Karna stood perfectly straight. "What are your specific orders, Boss?"

The true, hidden mastermind was ready to deploy his forces. The lazy slacker was gone . Ken prepared to launch a massive, coordinated shadow operation across the entire Belmontia Empire. He would not let the villains ruin his peaceful life.

---

Ken stood in the center of his bedroom. The four elite captains waited for his commands. They hung on his every single word.

"Karna," Ken commanded smoothly. "You will deploy the entire Espionage Network. I want your spies covering every single sector of the Inner City. The corrupt politicians are hiding this book. They are moving it between their secure vaults. Track their movements. Monitor their communications."

"It will be done, Boss," Karna promised. He offered a crisp nod. "My agents will infiltrate their private estates. We will listen to their secret meetings. We will find out where the Ode to a Nightmare is currently located."

Ken turned his gaze to Jin. The researcher pushed his glasses up his nose.

"Jin," Ken instructed coldly. "You will utilize the Technical Team. I want you to hack into the imperial magical registry. Search for any massive spikes in dark mana. A book of this magnitude leaks toxic energy. Find the radiation footprint. Triangulate the coordinates."

"I will isolate the magical frequency immediately, Boss," Jin replied. He tapped his glowing blue tablet rapidly. "I will cross-reference the data with Karna's espionage reports. We will pinpoint the exact vault."

Ken nodded in approval. He looked at the two combat captains.

"Leviathan. Ryu," Ken said. His voice dropped to a terrifying, chilling whisper.

Ryu looked up. His golden eyes burned with devotion. Leviathan smiled a highly dangerous, seductive smile.

"You two will prepare the tactical squads," Ken ordered. "You will place the Assassination Unit and the Frontal Assault Squad on immediate standby. You will not strike yet. You will wait for Karna and Jin to locate the book."

"We will be ready, Master," Leviathan purred softly. "My assassins will sharpen their blades. We will wait in the shadows."

"And when we find the location?" Ryu asked eagerly. He clenched his massive fists.

Ken uncrossed his arms. He slid his hands deep into his pockets. He delivered his final, decree.

"When we find the book, we end this," Ken declared ruthlessly. "I want the book secured. I want it brought directly to me."

Ken paused. His dark eyes flashed with an intense, protective fury. He thought about his team downstairs. He thought about Naomi handing him a cookie. He thought about Risa drawing pictures on the rug. He thought about Princess Iris trusting him.

He cared about them. He wanted them to be safe. He wanted them to smile. He did not want them fighting terrifying demons from the Netherworld.

"These conspirators crossed a massive line today," Ken stated coldly. "They brought a demon general into a crowded ballroom. They endangered my friends. They ruined a perfectly peaceful evening."

The temperature in the bedroom plummeted again. The air felt dense.

"Monitor the conspirators closely," Ken commanded his captains. "Watch every single person involved with the Ode to a Nightmare. If they make a move. If they try to summon another monster. If they pose even the slightest threat to the 13th Unit."

Ken’s voice echoed with god-like finality.

"You will eliminate the threats ," Ken ordered without a single ounce of mercy. "Do not hesitate. Do not wait for my permission. If they threaten the peace of my friends, you will erase them from existence. You will leave nothing behind. They will disappear into the shadows forever."

The four elite captains bowed deeply. They felt the immense, terrifying power of his protective rage. They understood the order . The enemies of the 13th Unit were officially marked for death.

"Your will is absolute, Supreme One!" Ryu rumbled quietly.

"We will protect your peace, Boss," Karna agreed firmly.

"Go," Ken dismissed them simply.

The green magical circle flared brightly on the floorboards. The four spirits stepped backward into the light. They dissolved seamlessly into the dark shadows. They vanished from the mortal realm . The green glow faded away. The bedroom returned to its normal, dim illumination.
