Chapter 648 - I can’t wait to taste it

Voren and Seraphine exchanged confused glances, but in the end, they followed Jasper. They had arrived earlier than most of the guests because of their excitement, the anticipation of seeing Corvine crowned, of witnessing the culmination of everything they had worked toward.

Corvine and Liah were now members of the Grimroot pack, so naturally, Voren and Sera were like mother hens, protective and watchful.

Corvine’s parents had arrived too, and Desmond had wanted to have a word with Voren, but the Alpha promised the elderly man that he would be right back.

As soon as they reached Liah’s room, Liah pulled Seraphine in and told Jasper to take Voren to see Corvine. Seraphine was confused, her brow furrowing with concern, though Liah was all excited, practically vibrating with nervous energy.

"Sera, I’m so glad to see you." Liah’s voice was breathless, her eyes shining with emotion. "I can’t believe I almost lost him."

Seraphine was happy too, but she did not hide her concern. "You should be dressed by now, but you don’t seem to have even showered." She gestured at Liah’s disheveled appearance, her hair still uncombed, and she was in her pajamas, cute looking though.

Liah quickly rushed to shower, the sound of water filling the bathroom. While she was at it, she asked Seraphine, her voice carrying over the spray. "Sera, Corvine refused to do the deed when I gave him the chance." She paused, her voice dropping with uncertainty. "He said he wants our first time to be special, but what if he’s not up to it?"

Seraphine almost choked on laughter. She was having a headache, the question hitting her like a wave of secondhand embarrassment. "Is that why you called me?" Her voice was flat, incredulous.

"No." Liah responded from the bathroom, the water cutting off. "But I’ve been meaning to ask."

Seraphine took deep breaths and warned her, her voice carrying a note of maternal wisdom. "Be careful what you wish for, Liah." She paused, letting the words sink in. "You might be the one unable to walk when he unleashes himself on you. Enjoy your maiden times because these Alphas are insatiable."

Maybe due to how sex starved she was in her seven years loveless marriage, she was able to match up to Voren sometimes but things might be different for Athaliah.

Athaliah laughed from inside the bathroom, the sound bright and carefree. "Well, I’ve been dreaming of how passionate love-making feels like." Her voice was dreamy, almost wistful. "I can’t wait to taste it."

Seraphine could feel her cheeks burning because she too had wished the same when Ravyn refused to touch her. She had craved intimacy, connection, the feeling of being wanted. But Voren never seemed to get enough of her, his hunger was endless, insatiable.

When Liah was done, she wrapped herself in a towel robe before walking into a huge closet and pulling out a white garment bag. "Corvine and I talked about it." She unzipped it, revealing the dress within. "The dress you chose is very nice, but you should wear this."

Seraphine was speechless. The gown was breathtaking, a deep ruby red that seemed to glow from within, the fabric rich and luxurious, the design elegant and timeless. "Liah, I can’t wear this." Seraphine shook her head, her voice filled with protest. "Only the Luna queen should wear something like this on a memorable day like this."

Liah smiled affectionately, her eyes warm. "I’ll help you dress up, but who said my dress isn’t nicer?" She winked. "You’ll see."

Seraphine doubted it. No dress in the world could pass the elegant ruby woven ballroom dress she had chosen. But to her amazement, when she put it on, it matched her ruby necklace perfectly, the deep red stones complementing the gown’s rich hue. "Perfect." Liah smiled in satisfaction at her handiwork.

"Voren will wear something to match yours. It’s our way of thanking you for all the love and support you’ve shown us." Liah voice grew teary. "We wouldn’t be here without you."

Seraphine was equally teary as she embraced her, her arms tightening around Liah’s shoulders. "My only regret is not meeting you sooner." The words came out thick with emotion.

After she left, Liah summoned a maid to help her prepare. But at the entrance, Seraphine saw that Voren was waiting for her. He had also changed into a suit with similar colors to match her dress, deep ruby accents against dark fabric, elegant and powerful.

"You look like a queen." Voren’s voice was filled with admiration, his eyes tracing every curve of her gown.

Seraphine responded, her cheeks flushing with pleasure. "And you look like a king."

As soon as they reached their chairs, she asked Voren, her voice carrying a note of uncertainty. "Don’t you think we are overdressed?"

Voren agreed, a small smile tugging at his lips. "I said the same thing, but Corvine insisted." He shrugged, his expression softening. "He spent a lot on these attires just for us because of all the love and kindness we’ve shown him. He wanted to honor us."

Seraphine’s lips pursed together. "Same words as Liah." She shook her head, touched by their thoughtfulness.

The auditorium was full, packed with Alphas and leaders from across the region. They exchanged pleasantries with everyone, their smiles warm and their greetings sincere.

However, Voren did not get the chance to speak to Desmond, as the latter was engaged in talks with Killian’s father. Voren could vaguely guess what it was about. Corvine’s ties to the Nightshade pack.

Soon, all the contestants arrived with long faces, taking the front seats. Killian and Brad had recovered and were not happy at all. Their expressions were stormy, their jaws tight with barely contained fury.

Jasper arrived with his chosen beta, mother, and father, his posture proud and composed.

However, the moment Corvine and Athaliah appeared, Seraphine felt something extremely wrong, especially in their choice of outfit for the occasion.
