Chapter 617 - 376: Empty Valley
Chapter 617: Chapter 376: Empty Valley
The Empty Valley. In the very center of this continent lies a vast, empty valley, and this valley connects to the Abyss.
From the heart of this continent, one can directly reach the Abyss.
This was knowledge from the White Tower.
This continent was also famous in the Moon Sea, as it was one of the few places in the world with a passage to the Abyss.
Though Abyss Creatures were disgusting and terrifying, their rarity made them extremely valuable.
’So I have to set up the Ritual here.’
To construct a passage to the Deep Land in the mortal realm, one had to make use of a pre-existing channel, whether it was a passage to the Celestial Realm or one to the Abyss. In short, it had to be an established gateway leading from the mortal realm to another world.
Once the Ritual was complete,
this passage would be completely transformed into an entrance to the Deep Land.
But before that...
Lu Cang looked at a brilliant ball of light on the island.
On this island, there was also a Forbidden Magic that could be obtained.
It was one of the ten Original Forbidden Magics.
’This trip is turning out to be quite convenient.’
"Kid."
An Su’s voice sounded in his mind.
"What is it?" Lu Cang asked.
"It’s about time you told me about the changes you’ve gone through."
Lu Cang replied with cold indifference, "Do I have any obligation to tell you?"
An Su said gravely, "I can feel that you’ve accepted a mysterious power."
"Are you really that comfortable using such a power?"
"If you tell me about it, I can look it over. Who knows, I might even be able to analyze it for you and offer some advice."
An Su had been quiet for most of the journey.
But his mind had been racing the entire time, and he couldn’t help but mutter to himself about the changes in Lu Cang.
’Just how did this Sea of Consciousness change?’
’Why has Lu Cang become so adept at controlling his own Mind?’
He had debated whether he should even ask.
Throughout the trip, Lu Cang had barely interacted with him.
Before, Lu Cang would take the initiative to ask him about secret knowledge and ancient matters.
But now, Lu Cang didn’t ask him anything.
A sense of crisis welled up inside him. He had a bad feeling about this.
Finally, after they disembarked, An Su couldn’t hold back any longer and voiced his questions to Lu Cang.
Lu Cang paused for a moment before finally speaking. "An Su, do you know Luoti?"
An Su replied, "You must be talking about Mind Luoti."
Hearing that response, Lu Cang had his answer.
’It seems they’re one and the same.’
"Yes, that should be her."
An Su scoffed. "Heh, did you meet her in the Deep Land? I heard she entered the Deep Land herself... and after that, no one ever saw her again."
"There’s a rumor that her Divine Kingdom has merged with the Deep Land, becoming one and the same."
"Which means you entered the Deep Land and met Luoti."
"She’s a cunning woman. If you’ve met her, you must be extremely careful."
"Cunning?" Lu Cang asked.
As he asked, he complained inwardly.
’When it comes to being cunning, you’re not so bad yourself, An Su.’
"I was wondering why you’ve been acting so strange lately. You clearly haven’t been tainted by Spirituality, but you’re still different from before."
"And you were being so secretive, refusing to tell me."
"Did you really think you could communicate directly with a god who commands the Mind and not be affected by her in any way?"
Lu Cang frowned.
He immediately retorted, "I think she’s more trustworthy than you."
However, upon hearing Lu Cang’s unthinking rebuttal, An Su burst out laughing. "Haha! Trustworthy?"
"And your reason?"
"You can pry into all my innermost thoughts, so you think I’m untrustworthy. Yet you know nothing about her, and you think she’s trustworthy?"
"Is it just because she seems pitiful and needs your help?!"
At An Su’s question,
Lu Cang was struck speechless.
After a moment of silence, he could only say, "You... have a point."
’Have I really been trusting Luoti that much?’
If it hadn’t been for An Su’s sudden reminder, Lu Cang would have never even realized it.
"Hehe, so do you still think your Mind hasn’t been affected by her at all?"
"What did she ask you to do?"
Lu Cang said, "She... she asked me to help her set up a Ritual to the Deep Land."
An Su scoffed. "Heh, that’s just as I expected."
"It seems she also wants to vie for the position of the Moon..."
From those few words, a torrent of thoughts flashed through An Su’s mind, and he’d already pieced together most of what Luoti had done to Lu Cang.
"However, she and I haven’t had many dealings."
"There are just legends about her from a certain era. She once briefly placed the entire world under her Mind Control, and even I was no exception."
"It was for a very, very brief moment—just five short seconds."
"But to this day, no one knows what she actually did in those five seconds."
Hearing An Su’s tale, which was accompanied by flashes of his memories, Lu Cang couldn’t help but feel a little stunned.
’Mind Control an entire world?’
’Is this the power of a god...?’
’Could a Level 9 Reincarnator do the same thing?’
"Kid, I can’t say whether working with her is a good or a bad thing. After all, I don’t know her well."
"But based on the rumors I’ve heard, she’s an exceptionally cunning person."
"She’s deceived many people, playing with their hearts as she pleases."
"You’d best be cautious."
Just as Lu Cang and An Su were communicating...
"Lu Luwei, is this the companion you were talking about, meow?"
PAT—
A hand landed on Lu Cang’s head.
RUFFLE RUFFLE RUFFLE RUFFLE RUFFLE.
Mussing up Lu Cang’s hair.
His train of thought interrupted, Lu Cang turned to look at Xiumi beside him.
"What an adorable little kid."
Lu Luwei, however, gave a one-eyed wink. "If you make him angry, I won’t be able to stop him."
Xiumi asked, "You can’t stop this little kid?"
’Sigh.’
’So I’ve met Xiumi again.’
On the ship, Lu Luwei and Lu Cang had kept to themselves and barely interacted.
But after disembarking, Lu Luwei insisted on meeting up with Lu Cang.
And Xiumi, who had become good friends with her during that time, had tagged along.
Lu Cang politely removed her hand.
He greeted her like a well-behaved child, "Hello, miss."
...
He wasn’t sure how it had happened,
but before he knew it, their group had suddenly grown to eight people traveling together.
Lu Cang, Leng Qingying, and Lu Luwei were the original three.
Then Xiumi and her adventuring party had joined them. Her party consisted of five people: a Defender, a Warrior, a Hunter, a Mage, and a Healing Mage.
Their roles were clear and comprehensive.
They had come to the Empty Valley to explore. Apparently, they had found a Fallen Moon Fragment on Moonfall Island that could open an Abyss Rift.
This would allow them to hunt a large number of Abyss Creatures.
That was the purpose of their trip.
The Empty Valley attracted quite a few Adventurers due to its connection to the Abyss.
However, unlike Moonfall Island, this place wasn’t purely for adventuring.
The Empty Valley was also home to unique countries and city-states, inhabited by many civilians who were only Level 1-3.
Based on the previews Lu Cang had run over the past few days, he had a pretty good grasp of the situation here.
Unfortunately, the Forbidden Magic couldn’t be obtained in a single day. Although he could see the ball of light, the real Magic was hidden deep within the ruins.
If he could have taken it directly, he would have already mastered this Magic while he was on the ship.
This continent was shaped like a circular funnel. The closer one got to the center, the deeper it sank, with the lowest point connecting to the Abyss.
