Alien Species Invasion? I Kill Them Back.
Chapter 232 - 231: It’s All a Mountain
Chapter 232: Chapter 231: It’s All a Mountain
Feng Ling tilted her head back to look at the behemoth before her, silent for a long while.
She tried to figure out what it was. Where was its head? Did it have a heart? Could it move?
She and Ye Zheng slowly walked along the edge of the ’mountain,’ observing it cautiously. It was impossible to tell if a Mouse Monster had grown into the mountain or if the mountain had sprouted the limbs of a mouse. Every part was skin pressed against skin, flesh fused with flesh, making it impossible to discern its internal structure.
"Did this thing swallow every living creature in the entire Maze to get this big?" Ye Zheng said in a low, disgusted voice. "It’s definitely a menace. We have to get rid of it."
Feng Ling glanced at her, then looked back at the mountain of stacked flesh.
It was too big.
It was about seven stories tall, with countless hands and feet, mouths and eyes. To completely eliminate something of this form, she and Ye Zheng alone would have a tough time.
However, she had brought plenty of explosives into the Maze this time. If she used them all, it wasn’t entirely impossible...
"Look here!" Ye Zheng suddenly leaped forward, her eyes fixed on the upper half of a human body growing out of the base of the flesh-mountain.
It was surrounded by countless limbs from Mouse Monsters, which made the human torso stand out.
Because the body was wearing a grayish-green jacket.
Ye Zheng pulled at the jacket’s collar, sneering. "It’s an Alien Species. That Crow lied to us. An Alien Species has been in this Maze before. It pretended not to know where the entrance was, just to mess with us!"
Feng Ling frowned and looked, then drew the dagger she carried. She used its tip to lift the drooping head on the torso, raising it slightly to get a clear look at the face.
The facial features were blurry, like a slightly melted wax figure, but clearer than the human faces on the necks of the Mouse Monsters. At least, she could tell it was a man.
"Aren’t you angry?!" Ye Zheng growled resentfully. "All Alien Species deserve to die! How dare it lie to us!"
Feng Ling sheathed her dagger and said nonchalantly, "As long as the general plan isn’t compromised, it’s fine. Our agreement only required it to help us get into the Maze. As for it not being one hundred percent truthful, maybe it had its reasons."
Ye Zheng was still not reconciled, saying viciously, "After we get rid of the Maze Master, we can’t let that Crow off. I’m going to kill it!"
"No," Feng Ling frowned. "Only if it goes ’offline’ smoothly can Li Qing gain the trust of the other Maze Administrators. Besides, once the Maze Master is eliminated, the Maze will disappear. There’s no need to kill a Maze Administrator that’s about to go offline."
Ye Zheng was filled with rage. "Maybe they’re all in it together! Those Administrators teamed up to trick us! We should teach that Li Qing a lesson!"
"No," Feng Ling shot her an irritated glare. "Li Qing isn’t that good of an actor. Even if you don’t know his character, you should know his acting skills. And you’d better get a hold of yourself."
Ye Zheng was furious. "No to this, no to that! No to this, no to that! No to this, no to that! No to this! No to that!!..."
Unable to bear it any longer, she extended her sharp claws and viciously swiped at the man before her, gruesomely tearing the torso from the mountain! Then she started ripping at other limbs on the flesh-mountain to vent her rage!
Feng Ling couldn’t stop her at all.
However, the chunks of flesh that Ye Zheng tore off caught her attention.
Fresh flesh and blood revealed human bones. The shape of the bones was mutated at the ends, becoming soft and sticky, with a texture like a rubber band.
Feng Ling turned her head to look at the mountain. After the torso was torn away, a large, bloody wound appeared on the flesh-mountain. Dark red blood flowed from the wound, which contained several flexible tendons.
’The man’s corpse had been connected to these tendons, which was why it had remained so fresh. But where did the lower half of his body go? Had it completely fused with the flesh-mountain?’
"AH!—" Ye Zheng suddenly cried out, rapidly retreating several meters!
Feng Ling looked back at her and saw her holding up her clawed hands, shocked and furious. "This flesh is growing on my hands! It’s growing on my hands!"
"Calm down!" Feng Ling frowned and walked over. "Try to wash it off. If you can’t, just chop off the hand."
The Sky Horse Card in Ye Zheng’s body could repair her, so Feng Ling figured that chopping off an arm was a piece of cake for Ye Zheng—nothing to make a fuss about.
Not far from them was a restaurant. In the restaurant’s kitchen was a faucet and a conspicuous rectangular fish tank.
There wasn’t a single fish in the tank.
Ye Zheng put her hand in and rinsed it. When she pulled it out, her expression was ghastly.
Except for her nails, her hand was now exposed, tender red muscle and fascia showing. It looked as if it had been flayed alive.
Feng Ling asked, feigning ignorance, "Where’s your skin?"
Every time Ye Zheng got angry, her brain would get a little foggy. Her expression gradually shifted from anger to confusion, and then to bewilderment.
Feng Ling stopped teasing her and patiently advised, "Don’t touch that mountain anymore. I think the blood flowing from it is like glue. It can stick to people and slowly absorb them. You were lucky you didn’t get much blood on you. Otherwise, you would have been absorbed just like that man’s torso."
Ye Zheng’s expression shifted multiple times. After a long silence, she spat out two words: "Damn it!"
"Yeah, it really is," Feng Ling agreed, looking back at the mountain. "I wonder how long it took and how many living things it devoured to get this big. We need to go back for the explosives."
Ye Zheng thought for a moment, then asked her, "Where’s Little Skeleton?"
"Little Skeleton..." Feng Ling lowered her eyes, her gaze shifting to the man’s torso on the ground. "I’m afraid there’s no saving her."
If it had been a normal person’s body, they might have been able to escape by chopping off a limb after getting stuck. But Huangfu Miaomiao’s Ghost Shadow Form was too special.
This mountain could eat people—and eating people required slow chewing, slow digestion. But to this mountain, Huangfu Miaomiao in her Ghost Shadow Form was like a bowl of thin porridge, something it could gulp down in one go.
Feng Ling never would have thought that the Ghost Shadow Skill, which allowed for such free movement, would become Huangfu Miaomiao’s Death Sentence.
She tilted her head back again, gazing at the mountain before her, which was slowly rising and falling as if breathing.
Countless mangled limbs, organs, and flesh overlapped, packed tightly in dense layers... It was impossible to tell if these limbs had once belonged to humans or mice, and it no longer mattered.
It was all flesh. It was all mountain.
"We need to find a good angle and estimate the amount of explosives needed..." Feng Ling muttered, thinking aloud as she walked.
The Cat Owl that had followed them flapped its wings, flew down, and picked up something stained with blood from the ground. It then flew in front of Feng Ling.
Feng Ling froze for a second. The thing the Cat Owl had brought her was Huangfu Miaomiao’s mask.
She frowned and looked ahead. Beneath a pile of Mouse Monster corpses, she could see the corner of Huangfu Miaomiao’s clothing.
