Alien Species Invasion? I Kill Them Back.
Chapter 213 - 212: I Can’t See
Chapter 213: Chapter 212: I Can’t See
Feng Ling followed the red mist toward the docks, flooring the accelerator!
She finally understood why she had felt something was off back in the subway tunnel.
’This bastard wanted to escape from the very beginning! But the inspection team had it cornered too tightly. If it had fled directly to the docks, the team would have spotted it the moment it got close and immediately sent patrol boats or helicopters to intercept. So it deliberately hid in the tunnel, hatched the Insect King, and used the king as a diversion. While everyone, including me, was tricked into thinking it was hiding inside the Insect King, it had already slipped away to the docks!’
Feng Ling gripped the steering wheel, her gaze fixed forward, icy cold.
At first, she had just wanted to eliminate the threat—and, as a bonus, shut Ye Zheng up. That was the only reason she’d wanted to kill it.
But now, she was brimming with intense murderous intent!
She wanted nothing more than to tear this Alien Species that had deceived her into a million pieces!
The wind howled across the docks, where countless shipping containers stood in neat rows, obstructing the view.
Feng Ling smashed the patrol car through a barrier gate and sped along the riverbank!
All the vessels docked along the bank were silent, save for a single small yacht whose motor roared to life.
Feng Ling sneered, cranking the wheel into a sharp turn and slamming on the brakes! She then leaped out of the car, sprinted forward, and vaulted over the yellow-and-black striped warning line—
The yacht was already a hundred meters out.
The boy stood on the deck, flanked by two young men. Feng Ling couldn’t tell if they were accomplices or mind-controlled humans.
The boy shot her a taunting smile from the yacht. From over a hundred meters away, his voice was muffled by the evening wind, but Feng Ling still managed to catch a few keywords and phrases:
"You’re too late... Once the Mazes fully merge... this world will belong to us players sooner or later... You pitiful humans..."
Behind Feng Ling, another patrol car arrived. Duan Fei, shrugging out of his cumbersome protective suit, rushed over to ask, "Where’s the Alien Species?!"
Feng Ling stared grimly ahead.
On a night like this, without any lights, it was nearly impossible for the naked eye to spot a yacht floating on the inky black water.
"Are there any patrol boats nearby? Can you get one here?" she asked Duan Fei.
"Captain Han’s already arranged for one. It can be here in five minutes," Duan Fei answered swiftly.
Feng Ling’s gaze turned even colder.
’A five-minute response time is incredibly fast, but for me, that’s too long. In five minutes, it’ll all be over.’
"I’m not waiting. I’ll go after it." Feng Ling tossed aside her phone, ripped open her clothes, and leaped into the water!
"Hey—!" Duan Fei rushed to the edge, his eyes wide in shock. He couldn’t see anything in the inky black water!
Han Xu’s call came through. He asked urgently, "The patrol boat is almost there. What’s the situation at the docks?"
’The situation?’
Duan Fei ran a frantic hand through his hair. "I can’t see! I can’t see anything!"
The words had barely left his mouth when a silver-white serpent’s tail erupted from the surface, churning the water into waves, just like the White Dragon of ancient legend, said to stir the winds and roil the seas!
"Holy shit!" Duan Fei yelled into his phone. "I see it, I see it! I definitely see it now!"
It wasn’t that his eyesight was particularly good; the serpent’s body was just impossibly large and brilliantly white.
Han Xu roared through the phone, "Well, tell me what you see then!"
The massive serpent’s tail slammed down hard on the yacht, crushing it into the water with terrifying force!
Duan Fei: "Holy shit, holy shit, holy shit, holy shit!!!"
A few seconds later, the wrecked yacht slowly bobbed to the surface, snapped in two.
Duan Fei couldn’t see any sign of people and held his breath, his eyes scanning the water’s surface.
Ten or so seconds later, distinct waves appeared on the water, and a white form rose from their center—
The serpent’s body broke through the water, its tail coiled around three unconscious people.
With a slight exertion of force, Feng Ling threw the three people onto the bank.
She didn’t immediately come ashore herself. Her lower body remained submerged in the water, her human torso draped over the metal guardrail on the bank as she panted for breath.
This was the first time she had attempted to use her second form underwater.
She remembered the giant python at the foot of Sanqing Mountain and figured that if it could survive in the water, then maybe her own second form wouldn’t be so cumbersome underwater.
It looked like her hunch was correct.
Duan Fei hurried over. "Why are there three of them?"
"Stay back," Feng Ling warned him. "Those two look like ordinary humans. They might have been infested by the Gu Insect Master’s insects, but since the Gu Insect Master is dead, the bugs in their bodies should die off too, right?"
She said, glancing at the soaked boy on the ground.
His body was twisted at an unnatural angle; Feng Ling had crushed every bone in his body underwater.
Now, a Card was slowly materializing from his body.
Feng Ling looked at his corpse, recalled his arrogant expression on the yacht, and suddenly found the whole thing hilarious.
She let out a snort of laughter. "Hahahahaha! Hahahaha..."
Duan Fei watched her laugh, feeling a bit stunned and even a little scared.
"Are... you okay?" Duan Fei asked cautiously.
"Yep, I’m fine, hahaha!" Feng Ling couldn’t stop laughing. "I was holding all that in. I feel so much better now, so happy~"
Two Cards had materialized from the Alien Species.
Feng Ling flicked her serpent tail, slowly reverted to her human form, and climbed onto the bank. "Do you have any clothes?" she asked Duan Fei.
"Only a protective suit. I-I’ll go get it for you." Duan Fei turned and ran to the patrol car to fetch it.
Feng Ling glanced at the designs on the Cards that had materialized from the Gu Insect Master, picked up her phone, and collected the Cards.
Each phone could hold two Cards, which was a perfect fit.
A short while later, Han Xu also arrived with his men.
The medical team lifted the two men onto stretchers, and the cleanup crew began to collect the body and sanitize the area.
According to Han Xu’s speculation, the two were likely fishermen who had snuck out at night, only to have the bad luck of running into the Alien Species. The Alien Species probably hadn’t killed them because it intended to use them as hostages and dispose of them once it reached a safe place.
Feng Ling didn’t need to worry about these follow-up issues.
She returned to the truck, and upon seeing her companions again, she couldn’t help but want to laugh. The corners of her mouth turned up, her entire person radiating the joy of a triumphant victory.
"I’ve discovered the proper way to use my second form!~ I should be fighting in the water!" Feng Ling said smugly.
Then she noticed the atmosphere in the truck was a little strange.
Huangfu Miaomiao’s eyes were red, and Ye Zheng’s expression was vacant.
Feng Ling waved a hand in front of Ye Zheng’s eyes. Seeing they were unfocused, she turned to the others and asked, baffled, "Why is she dazed again? Who gave her a sedative?"
Xu Yiming awkwardly raised a hand.
"Earlier, she wanted to go into the subway station to kill the Alien Species. We stopped her, and she got a little... worked up."
"Is that so." Feng Ling smiled and patted Ye Zheng on the shoulder. "Too bad you can’t share in my happiness tonight~"
Li Qing spoke up hesitantly, "What about the Maze..."
"Let Little Skeleton find the Maze," Feng Ling said, still in high spirits. Her tone was light. "We killed so many Alien Species tonight, the pedestrian street should be safe now. Tomorrow, contact that Crow, and we’ll look for the Maze’s entrance."
