Chapter 490: Chapter 245: Advancement to Level 6 Wizard, Rule Comprehension

The repeated transformations of the Power of Rules had given him significant insight into the Rule of Lightning.

A Sixth-level Wizard’s strength was determined entirely by the depth of their comprehension of the Rules.

Although he had only just advanced, his power was already on par with that of many Sixth-level Wizards who had been at that level for hundreds or even thousands of years.

However, despite his advanced progress in comprehending the Rule of Lightning, Pei Ze had no intention of relying solely on it to become a Seventh-level Wizard.

Among the many Rules, the Rule of Elements—like lightning, fire, and ice—belonged to the lowest tier, far inferior to Rules like Rot, Decay, and Shadow.

And they were nothing compared to the highest-tier Rules, such as Death, Life, Time, and Space.

Rule Wizards who advanced using the Rule of Elements were considered the weakest of their kind, likely to remain at the Seventh Level for the rest of their lives.

Only Wizards who mastered a higher-tier Rule had any chance of breaking through to an even greater level.

Of course, for the vast majority of Wizards, simply becoming a Rule Wizard was an incredible feat; they had no capacity to hope for more.

’The highest-tier Rules, huh.’

A glint appeared in Pei Ze’s eyes.

Ever since he’d first stepped onto the path of a Wizard, he had always pursued perfection.

Whether it was his Will Rune or his elementalization, he had always pushed himself to the absolute limit before advancing.

This time would be no exception.

He didn’t just look down on the Rule of Elements; Pei Ze wasn’t even particularly impressed by Rules like Rot, Decay, and Shadow.

’If I’m going to master a Rule, it has to be one from the highest tier.’

’The only question is, which one should I choose?’

’With the Cyan Flame from the God of Decay and Death, comprehending the Rule of Death would be far more efficient.’

The moment the thought arose, Pei Ze shook his head. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ

’Even among the highest-tier Rules, there are distinctions in power.’

For example, the Rule of Death and the Rule of Life were inferior to the Rule of Time and the Rule of Space.

Given the choice, Pei Ze would naturally prefer to master one of the latter two.

However, as the two most powerful Rules in the Multiverse, the Rules of Time and Space were notoriously difficult to comprehend.

Over the long history of the Star Realm Alliance, countless genius Wizards had emerged, yet only one had ever mastered the Rule of Time or Space: the very Wizard who founded the Alliance.

That Wizard had fought the Mother of Nightmare Serpents during the Dawn War, defeating her at the cost of grievous injuries, and had died not long after establishing the Star Realm Alliance.

In other words, there were currently no Wizards in the Star Realm Alliance who had mastered either the Rule of Time or Space.

Even Wizards who had mastered the Rule of Death or Life were so few they could be counted on two hands.

Over the years, many confident geniuses had attempted to comprehend the Rule of Time or Space. But in the end, they all met with failure. After struggling for hundreds or even thousands of years to no avail, they were inevitably forced to give up.

Truth be told, if it weren’t for the Eye of Omniscience, Pei Ze wouldn’t dare choose such a path.

’If I’m going to do this, I must aim for the very best.’

Pei Ze made up his mind.

’Then I’ll choose the Rule of Space.’

The Rule of Time and the Rule of Space belonged to the same tier.

Comparatively, however, the Rule of Space was easier to comprehend.

There were generally two ways to comprehend a Rule.

The first was to find a place rich in the Power of a specific Rule and study it there.

To comprehend the Rule of Elements, for instance, the best method was to go to the core of one of the Elemental Planes.

The second method was to choose an item that contained the Power of a Rule and analyze it, thereby increasing one’s comprehension.

The Cyan Flame of the God of Decay and Death, for example, was an excellent choice for comprehending the Rule of Death.

And regardless of which method one chose, comprehending the Rule of Space was simpler than comprehending the Rule of Time.

After all, while places in the Multiverse containing the Power of Spatial Rules were rare, they did exist—such as the Abyss, with its chaotic space.

A Wizard confident enough in their own power could even forcibly tear open space, creating artificial spatial turbulence to analyze.

However, places containing the Power of the Rule of Time were virtually nonexistent.

Legend told of a Tower of Time in some hidden corner of the Multiverse, where time flowed hundreds of times faster than in the outside world.

But this was only a legend; to this day, no one had ever found the Tower of Time.

As for the second method, although wondrous items containing the Rule of Space were rare, they could still be found.

Many of the materials used to construct Plane Teleportation Arrays, for example, contained the Rule of Space.

Wondrous items containing the Rule of Time, on the other hand, were exceedingly rare.

Therefore, given that the two Rules were comparable in power, Pei Ze naturally chose the Rule of Space for its lower difficulty of comprehension.

CRACKLE!

Pei Ze extended his right hand. His palm was instantly covered in incandescent white lightning, so dense it looked like liquid. He then chopped downward with his hand. In that instant, the void tore apart, and a half-meter-long spatial rift materialized out of thin air.

Pei Ze reached his hand into the spatial rift and silently commanded,

’Omniscience, analyze the Rule of Space.’

[Task created. Beginning analysis of the Rule of Space.]

Unlike before, this time the Eye of Omniscience didn’t provide an estimated cost, only a progress bar for his comprehension.

[Rule of Space: 0.01%]

Pei Ze withdrew his hand, allowing the spatial rift to slowly fade away.

’Even though the Eye of Omniscience is analyzing the Rule of Space for me, I can’t slack off myself.’

’The Travelers’ Association should have some wondrous items containing the Rule of Space. If I buy one, I can study it as well.’

’With a two-pronged approach, my progress would be even faster.’

Having decided on his plan, Pei Ze felt much more relaxed.

He stretched, then rose and left the Meditation Room.

Just as he stepped out of the room, a black shadow flew silently toward him.

Soundlessly, Wuyu landed on Pei Ze.

After more than three months of stabilization, the overflow of Wuyu’s power had significantly subsided.

"I’ll let you complete your evolution in a few days."

Pei Ze stroked Wuyu’s head.

’Once the little one evolves to the Sixth Level, I can have it fuse with the Cyan Flame to increase its power.’

Next, Pei Ze went to the Dragon Hall.

He hadn’t seen Mo Ying in nearly five years. The dragon had grown another size larger, and its draconic aura was more condensed and powerful.

According to the Eye of Omniscience, Mo Ying had now reached Level 4 Peak, making it a proper young adult Shadow Giant Dragon.

Once it reached its adult stage, its power would rise to the Sixth Level.

"Looks like you haven’t been slacking off."

Pei Ze patted Mo Ying’s head.

The giant dragon gave a low rumble, lowering its head to nuzzle Pei Ze, its eyes filled with a trace of reverence.

The Dragon Race’s keen senses allowed it to perceive that its master had grown even stronger; he now emanated a suppressive aura that made it tremble.

Pei Ze paid it no mind. After checking on Mo Ying’s growth and seeing that all was well, he departed.

After that, Pei Ze made his way to the Ancient Tree Courtyard.

The moment he entered the Ancient Tree Courtyard, Tining and Leiot immediately sensed his arrival.

An invisible wave of energy swept over him, only retracting after identifying him as Pei Ze.

Pei Ze smiled faintly, took a step forward, and vanished.

When he reappeared, he was standing before Leiot.

Tining happened to be there as well, and her eyes lit up when she saw Pei Ze.

"Pei Ze, when did you get back?"

"I’ve been back for a little while," Pei Ze replied with a small smile. "I was going into seclusion, so I didn’t let you know."

"Seclusion?"

Tining froze for a moment, her eyes scanning Pei Ze up and down as an expression of shock slowly crept onto her face.

"You... broke through?"

Pei Ze chuckled and nodded.

Tining stood rooted to the spot, her eyes wide and her mouth slightly agape in disbelief.

’When he left for the Abyss, Pei Ze had only just become a Level 5 Wizard. It’s only been five years, and he’s already broken through to become a Sixth-level Wizard!’

’This is insane!’

Leiot had noticed the change in Pei Ze even before Tining did.

The instant Pei Ze appeared, Leiot had sensed the dense Soul Power emanating from him.

That was the mark of a Sixth-level Wizard.

Realizing this, Leiot couldn’t help but feel a wave of emotion.

’The young Wizard who was weaker than me when we first met has now surpassed me.’

’In all my long years, I’ve never seen a Wizard like Pei Ze.’

’The speed of his advancement is simply unheard of!’
