Chapter 383
The projection screen for the birthday celebration was located in the garden, where earlier images of Third Aunt Qin had been playing.
Now, since everyone was engrossed in the drama unfolding, no one noticed that the screen had gone dark.
Qin Xian was accompanying Ji Fei by the computer, tinkering with it and even handing over his own phone.
Ji Fei’s eyes immediately lit up with excitement.
Meanwhile, other members of the Qin Family were gathered around Qin Jiaxi.
Qin Jiaxi was in a state of complete shock, dumbfoundedly staring at the two men before her, then mechanically turning her head to look at her mother and brother.
Despite Third Uncle Qin’s rage, her mother and brother still attempted to justify their actions.
“It must have been… a mistake,” Third Aunt Qin recovered and quickly recalled the prepared excuse. “He’s indeed a young acquaintance of mine, and I asked him to rest upstairs.”
Qin Han, visibly nervous, nodded in agreement. “That’s right. As for what happened afterward, we had no idea.”
After saying this, Qin Han sent a harsh glare to the overweight man, signaling him.
“Who is he? Why did you introduce him to Jiaxi? What are you scheming?” Third Uncle Qin demanded.
Third Aunt Qin immediately retorted with false confidence, “What could I possibly be scheming? Do you think I’d harm my own daughter? I merely wanted her to make more friends.”
“Then how did they end up drugged and in Jiaxi’s room?! What were they trying to do?!” Third Uncle Qin roared.
Both Third Aunt Qin and Qin Han were now drenched in sweat.
Su Ze quickly interjected, “Uncle, this has nothing to do with me. I had intended to talk privately with Jiaxi, but I found a man hiding in the room. As soon as I entered, something sprayed water into my face, and then my body became weak and uncontrollable. This must be a conspiracy.”
Even though it was clear the overweight man might be connected to Qin Han, given their brotherhood, in times of crisis, each looks out for themselves.
“You’re no better,” Third Uncle Qin snapped, refusing to listen to Su Ze’s excuses. “Sneaking into my daughter’s room, do you really think you’re in the clear?”
However, Third Uncle Qin knew that the primary issue was this mysterious overweight man—no, not mysterious, clearly someone his wife had brought in, likely intended for his daughter…
Third Uncle Qin’s eyes grew increasingly red with anger. He stepped forward and kicked the overweight man to the ground, yelling, “Speak! Who put you up to this?!”
“I… I… I didn’t do anything! It wasn’t me! I…” The overweight man was already cowering, but with Qin Han signaling him, he dared not reveal anything.
At this moment, Qin Han stepped forward and proposed, “Dad, since this concern’s Xiao Mei’s (Little Sister’s) honor, let me handle it. We have many guests here right now.”
Third Aunt Qin quickly chimed in, “Yes, I’ll talk to his parents. You shouldn’t get involved in this.”
Suddenly, the microphone emitted a piercing screech that reverberated throughout the venue.
“Testing, testing. Hey, you two over there, mother and son, stop acting like you care so much about Jiaxi.”
Everyone turned to see Qin Xian and Ji Fei standing by the large screen, smiling and speaking into the microphone.
“You… This is our family’s internal affair. Please don’t interfere,” Qin Han immediately shouted.
“Oh, is that so?” Ji Fei replied with a smirk. “But I accidentally left my phone in Jiaxi’s room earlier, and even more accidentally, I had started recording before leaving.”
The crowd: …Accidentally?
Regardless, it seemed they were about to witness a juicy revelation.
As the video started to play, Qin Han’s face turned as pale as a ghost. He attempted to rush over but was kicked back by Third Uncle Qin.
Third Uncle Qin’s gaze was ice-cold as he stared down at the disheveled Qin Han, hoping that things weren’t as bad as he feared.
But his hopes were dashed. As Qin Han struggled to his feet, his voice echoed from the speakers:
“Stay hidden under the bed. Wait for my sister to arrive. Once she enters, the trap will trigger, spraying the drug above, affecting both of you. Seize the opportunity, and you’ll become the son-in-law of the Qin Family.”
Everyone was utterly shocked, staring in disbelief at this daylight act of depravity.
A brother, bringing a stranger into his own sister’s room, hiding him under the bed, and setting up a trap himself.
This shattered Qin Han’s image as a noble gentleman, exposing the sordid and repugnant truth beneath.
“Good heavens, how could there be such a brother?”
“Even if you don’t like your sister, you can’t drug and force her like this!”
“What kind of hatred is this? They’re not siblings; they’re enemies!”
“I used to wonder if the rumors in college were a misunderstanding, but now I have no doubts. It’s a heartless, treacherous brother!”
“Forget about being a brother; he’s not even fit to be called human.”
Third Uncle Qin and Qin Jiaxi were both pale, staring in horror at the scenes unfolding, witnessing Qin Han’s ruthless actions without a trace of conscience.
By this point, Qin Han had completely panicked and stopped struggling. He knew it was all over, and his life would forever be tainted.
It was only now that he seemed to regret, how could he have listened to his mother and Yu Xin, taking such a risky step? He felt his mind was clouded and unclear.
Third Aunt Qin’s lips turned bloodless, trembling faintly. Beside her, Yu Xin’s voice broke the silence, “Auntie, what do we do?”
Third Aunt Qin tried to remain composed, thinking of ways to salvage the situation.
But the video continued to play.
The overweight man, finally overcome by fear, stammered, “Is this really going to be okay? Once the drug wears off, won’t your sister be suicidal? Your dad won’t let it go easily. Is my safety guaranteed?”
“Don’t worry,” Qin Han reassured coldly. “The rest will be handled by my mother. When she came up with this plan, she already had it figured out. The drug can’t be detected after it wears off. Then you can claim you were both drunk. As long as you insist Jiaxi was willing, it’ll be fine. It’s a scandal, so if it gets out, it won’t be good for my sister. Dad won’t be so unreasonable, and Mom can feign worry and suffering, maybe even fake a stomachache. Dad definitely won’t push for an investigation, and Jiaxi won’t dare risk being blamed for causing Mom’s potential miscarriage. In the end, Mom can cry a bit, and you might even end up marrying my sister.”
“Will she agree? She didn’t seem willing today,” the overweight man questioned.
“Hmph, unwilling or not, she won’t have a choice. Then Mom can cry to the ladies in the social circle, letting everyone know my sister was ‘with’ you. Who would dare marry her for political alliance after that? Once you’re married, strictly control her. Don’t let her constantly oppose me and Yu Xin.” Qin Han spoke cruelly.
At this moment, the entire venue was so quiet that a pin drop could be heard, utterly silent.
Everyone stared at Third Aunt Qin, their minds filled with a single thought: The mother was actually involved in this too. The brother was disgusting enough, but the woman who had carried and given birth to the child wanted to offer her own daughter to a strange man. What kind of mind could conceive such a thing?!
Such a woman was still part of their elite social circle? Her former close friends now wanted to distance themselves as far as possible, even impulsively wanting to delete her contact information on the spot.
It was beyond the word “cruel” to describe her actions.
