Chapter 366: Chapter 363: The Villain in Every Rebirth Novel

Just like that, a week passed, and the new semester at Tsinghua University began.

However, starting from the second semester, Jiang Xia’s schedule was packed with practical courses. Unlike the previous semester, where he could easily skip the large, combined-class theory lectures, these smaller classes made playing hooky difficult.

For one, the classes were small. Plus, with three of the students working at Qitian Animation, skipping was a surefire way to get caught by the professor.

This meant that whenever an urgent task required them to work overtime, they had to go through the official channels to request time off.

Of course, Jiang Xia’s life remained much the same: classes, work, and spending time with his wife. But after taking the next step in their relationship, the two had moved out of the dorms completely. Outside of class, they spent nearly all their time at the company.

After passing their interviews, Cui Jiaying and Si Si also started working at D Station. One was responsible for community operations, and the other handled content partnerships.

The former’s duties mainly involved communicating with creators, scouting for and retaining core talent, and fostering a healthy content ecosystem. This also included rolling out and managing key community features like tags, reviews, and topic discussions to encourage the production of high-quality content.

The latter, meanwhile, was tasked with scouting and acquiring outstanding domestic and international content, liaising with advertisers, and actively pursuing rapid user growth and commercialization.

The two learned the ropes quickly and worked diligently, just as they had promised; they wouldn’t let the boss and the boss’s wife down.

While on the job, they conscientiously studied D Station’s business model and the process for cultivating successful creators, accumulating experience for their own future channels.

Before long, a month had passed. The company’s restructuring was complete. Jiang Xia had established Qitian Entertainment Co., Ltd., with himself as president. Under it were two subsidiaries, Qitian Animation and Dili Dili, marking the first official step toward becoming a group.

To make work more convenient, Li Weiya rented out the rest of the office space on the fifteenth floor for Dili Dili’s new offices.

By now, the D Station team was almost fully assembled. Thanks to the development plan Jiang Xia had drafted earlier, everything was proceeding in an orderly fashion.

Slam Dunk, meanwhile, was now up to its seventh episode. As the plot unfolded, the number of people following the series on D Station had nearly tripled since it first premiered.

Even those who had previously complained that Qitian Animation Company could only produce children’s shows were won over by *Slam Dunk*’s outstanding quality. Now, they found themselves eagerly waiting for the new episode to drop each week.

A new trend even swept the internet: learning to play basketball like Duanmu Huadao. After all, didn’t the beautiful Haruko only have eyes for basketball players? It got to the point where guys felt too embarrassed to confess their feelings to a girl if they couldn’t play.

At this point, *Slam Dunk* had cemented its status as the blockbuster hit among domestic new series for the year. Its rating had climbed from an initial 7.6 to 8.8, and it was still steadily rising.

Numerous TV stations were blowing up Qitian Animation’s phone, but to their dismay, *Slam Dunk* was a D Station exclusive. As a result, D Station’s new user sign-ups skyrocketed, and its daily active users had already surpassed the five million mark.

Creators from all walks of life began joining the platform. While the video quality couldn’t compare to what it would become in later years, it was still the most crucial first step.

One thing that utterly amazed Si Si and Cui Jiaying was one particular creator. This person uploaded a video each day of themselves foraging for various types of seafood on the beach. Their subscriber count was growing at an incredible rate, with each video racking up tens of thousands of views.

This just went to prove what Jiang Xia had said before: being a D Station creator was a new and very promising career path.

But this peaceful routine was shattered by one annoying guy.

The class monitor, Song Qingshu, found Jiang Xia in dorm room 620B and spoke with a distinctly rude tone. "Jiang Xia, if you don’t want to be a student, you can just drop out. What’s with you asking for leave every other day? The major-course professor has asked me about you multiple times. You’re absent every time he takes roll. You think you can graduate from Tsinghua like this? In my opinion, you should just hurry up and go back to high school and repeat a grade!"

His gaze was filled with scorn. He’d disliked Jiang Xia ever since their military training. It was hard to say whether it was because of Jiang Xia’s beautiful girlfriend or the way the guy always ignored him.

In any case, he had meticulously logged Jiang Xia’s many absences, planning to wait for the right moment to report them all at once to the academic advisor.

Song Qingshu’s gaze shifted to Su Qing. He knew this guy also skipped class often, but Su Qing was a young master from the Imperial Capital, someone he had no intention of offending for the time being. On the contrary, he hoped to put Su Qing in his debt; gaining his friendship would be even better.

Jiang Xia shot him a sidelong glance. "Wow, being class monitor has really gone to your head. Whether I take time off or not is none of your damn business. Get the hell out of my sight."

’I’ve never been able to stand the guy,’ Jiang Xia thought. ’He’d been insufferably arrogant during his self-introduction last semester, and he always acted high and mighty, banking on his status as a rich kid from Shanghai. Plenty of classmates were always sucking up to him.’

’He was probably spoiled rotten growing up and loved ordering people around. I heard he even made a short animated film, getting a few of his lackeys to do the work for him.’

’As long as we stayed out of each other’s way, it was fine. But now this guy was actively looking for trouble. Was I supposed to just take that?’

Song Qingshu was furious. If this weren’t Jiang Xia’s dorm, he would’ve had someone beat the hell out of him. He was just some country bumpkin from the mainland; beating him up was no big deal.

He clenched his fists, fighting the urge to throw a punch. Instead, he spat out a threat. "So you don’t want to graduate, huh? Fine. Just you wait." ℯℯ𝘭.

Jiang Xia softly uttered two words: "Dumb ass."

’Does he really think his family owns the university? That he can get anyone he wants expelled? Who the hell does this guy think he is?’

Song Qingshu was seething. No one in his entire life had ever dared to speak to him that way. He silently vowed to himself that he would find a way to make sure this guy never graduated.

But more important than beating him up right now was reporting him to the academic advisor.

"Fine! You just wait!"

Song Qingshu tossed out one last threat and left. He didn’t want any physical confrontation with Jiang Xia; it would tarnish his reputation. Getting a demerit for fighting would be a foolish, self-defeating move.

Su Qing watched Song Qingshu leave, then turned to Jiang Xia with a serious expression. "He’s probably gone to report you to Teacher Zeng. I bet he’ll exaggerate and add a bunch of lies, too."

Jiang Xia shrugged. "Let him. That idiot’s a clown. Does he really think the world revolves around him?"

Su Qing nodded. ’He was right,’ he thought. ’With Jiang Xia’s current status, he really didn’t need to worry about being reported. The moment the university found out he was the president of Qitian Group, the entire School of Fine Arts would roll out the red carpet for him. It was only because he kept such a low profile that he hadn’t already become a campus celebrity.’

’Come to think of it, Song Qingshu is actually pretty pathetic. He marched in here all high and mighty to cause trouble, only to be ignored and then brutally chewed out. I’d love to see the look on his face when he finally realizes he picked a fight with someone he can’t afford to offend.’
