After the Divorce, My Wife and I Were Both Reborn
Chapter 344 - 341: Guidance from Jiang ’Love Sage’ Xia
Chapter 344: Chapter 341: Guidance from Jiang ’Love Sage’ Xia
After being out for half the day, Jiang Xia returned with a pile of fireworks and firecrackers to find that his godmother and Wang Ming had already arrived.
The adults had the TV on, but no one was watching it; they were just listening to the sound while chatting about Jiang Xia and Lin Yanwan’s wedding plans. Meanwhile, Wang Ming sat off to the side, a smile occasionally gracing his lips as he fiddled with his phone.
Jiang Xia walked over to greet his godmother, then grabbed a stool and sat down next to Old Wang. He leaned over, trying to sneak a peek at what he was doing that was making him smile so sleazily.
Wang Ming abruptly snatched his phone back, clutching it to his chest as he eyed Jiang Xia warily. "What are you looking at?"
Jiang Xia chuckled. ’That reaction... he’s definitely chatting with Shen Ying.’
"Try to tone it down. You’re grinning from ear to ear," Jiang Xia said with a light chuckle.
"Is it that obvious?"
Wang Ming touched his face. ’I’m not really doing anything, am I? Just chatting with Shen Ying. He’s exaggerating.’
"Yes. The sickeningly sweet stench of love is all over you. Anyone with eyes can see you’re in a relationship," Jiang Xia said with a teasing nod.
Wang Ming’s face flushed. "No, I’m not!"
’He wished he was dating Shen Ying, but he hadn’t even confessed yet.’
Jiang Xia raised an eyebrow. "Didn’t you go on a date with Shen Ying at the amusement park? A Ferris wheel is the perfect spot for a date. They say the success rate for confessions is super high. So? Don’t tell me it didn’t work out?"
Wang Ming scratched his head. "I wasn’t prepared at all that day, so I didn’t dare to confess."
Jiang Xia rolled his eyes, speechless. "She went on a Ferris wheel with you. What more preparation do you need? Just pour your heart out. It’s not like she can run away up there. It’s obvious Shen Ying likes you."
"I... I know, but..." Wang Ming pursed his lips, hesitating for a few seconds before adding, "I just can’t get the words out."
"Old Wang, you missed a golden opportunity to confess."
Jiang Xia patted Wang Ming’s shoulder and sighed softly. "But it’s not a huge deal. With feelings, it’s all about letting them build up before you let them out. The more you build, the greater your chance of success when you confess."
Wang Ming nodded, silently committing the love guru’s words to memory.
"Does Godmother know about you and Shen Ying?" Jiang Xia asked.
Wang Ming thought about it carefully, then shook his head. "Probably not. I’ve never mentioned it in front of her."
He and Shen Ying communicated almost exclusively through QQ. Even when they went out, the two of them would just arrange to meet somewhere.
Jiang Xia suddenly said in a meaningful tone, "I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but Godmother seems to really like Shen Ying. If you step up your game and win her over, I bet your mom would be thrilled."
"Umm... do you have any ideas?" Wang Ming asked hesitantly.
"Are you kidding me? You even have to ask? Opportunities are everywhere, man."
"I know you’re the pro here, so spill it! What’s the plan?" Wang Ming pressed.
’They had to head north to the Imperial Capital on the sixth day of the new year. There were only a few days left with Shen Ying. If he didn’t confess now, while her affection for him was at its peak, their relationship might cool off once they were in different cities, reverting to how it used to be.’
That was why Old Wang was secretly panicking.
"Let me ask you, what day is it today?" Jiang Xia asked.
"New Year’s Eve."
"And what happens on New Year’s Eve?"
"Watch the Spring Festival Gala?"
"...You’re fucking hopeless." Jiang Xia nearly choked. ’Watch the Spring Festival Gala, my ass.’ "Do you really think it’s romantic to confess to Shen Ying in the middle of a comedy sketch?"
Wang Ming covered his face. "Hey, calm down. It was just a reflex. So, what else is there to do on New Year’s Eve?"
"What did I go out and buy today?" Jiang Xia said, his voice laced with exasperation.
Wang Ming glanced over at the corner of the room, where fireworks of all sizes were piled up.
His eyes lit up. "Fireworks?"
"Duh."
Jiang "Romance Coach" Xia, now offering live support: "Women are creatures driven more by emotion than logic. When faced with something romantic and beautiful, their defenses weaken. You have to seize any opportunity to move them, wait for the perfect moment, and strike. One-hit knockout!"
’Brilliant!’ Wang Ming had to physically stop himself from applauding. ’A love guru who won over his goddess so easily is just on another level. His rank is way higher than a complete romance-idiot like me.’
"Old Wang, tonight is pretty much your last chance during the holiday. If you miss it, you’ll probably have to wait until this time next year."
Jiang Xia cheered on his good friend. "You’ve got this. Find a way to get her to come out tonight. Go to the square where the most people are setting off fireworks. Then, when she’s at her happiest, tell her everything that’s in your heart."
Wang Ming nodded emphatically.
’With a love guru devising the plan for him tonight, how could he possibly lose?’
"So... can I borrow some of your fireworks tonight?"
"Go buy your own. These are for Xiao Man," Jiang Xia said with a laugh. "And remember, don’t buy any of those big, loud, single-shot firecrackers. You’re trying to confess, not scare her to death. Just buy whatever looks pretty. Especially sparklers—the kind you can hold and wave around. Get a lot of those."
"Got it." Wang Ming nodded in agreement.
"Oh, right. I heard from your parents that you and Lin Yanwan are planning on getting engaged?"
"Yeah, getting engaged first," Jiang Xia said.
"That’s so fast..."
Wang Ming couldn’t help but sigh. ’If I remember right, they’ve only been together for a little over half a year, and they’re already getting engaged. And here I am, still unable to even confess to Shen Ying.’
’He even suspected that if they were both old enough to legally marry, they’d be talking about a wedding right now, not an engagement.’
"So slow... why aren’t I 22 yet?" Jiang Xia sighed in turn.
Old Wang’s eye twitched. ’This bastard. He’s flexing again.’
"I’m seriously tempted to punch you."
"Sigh. You wouldn’t understand."
’His love for Lin Yanwan spanned two lifetimes. Their feelings now were even deeper than in their past life, but because of their age, they couldn’t live the ideal married life they wanted. It was draining for both of them sometimes.’
’The restraint was agonizing.’
"Fuck you!" Wang Ming shot him the middle finger.
This New Year’s Eve dinner was probably the happiest the three families had ever shared. For Wang Ming and Li Weiya in particular—who as mother and son had always relied solely on each other—they now found themselves as god-relatives with the Jiangs, all thanks to Jiang Xia. They were once again experiencing the warmth of a large family.
"To the new year! I hope that our three families will have smooth sailing, live in harmony and happiness, be blessed by good fortune, and enjoy prosperous business!" Lin Gaoyuan raised his glass and laughed heartily.
"And I wish for Xiaxia and Yanwan to be of one heart and mind, and to walk forward together, hand in hand," Xia Shanshan added with a smile.
"And I wish everyone good health and that all your dreams may come true," Li Weiya chimed in, also raising her glass.
"Happy New Year!"
"Cheers!"
