After the Divorce, My Wife and I Were Both Reborn
Chapter 240 - 238: The Mobile Barber Shop of Building 6
Chapter 240: Chapter 238: The Mobile Barber Shop of Building 6
"So? How is it?"
Jiang Xia untied the cape, stood up, and walked over to Lin Yanwan, a brilliant smile on his face.
Seeing her boyfriend’s smug look, it was clear he was fishing for compliments on how handsome he was. Lin Yanwan gently brushed the stray hairs from his neck and said with a helpless laugh, "Alright, stop being so vain. Hurry up and go wash up."
She raised her hand and felt Jiang Xia’s new buzz cut. The hair was prickly and stubbly to the touch, which was actually kind of fun.
"Okay."
Jiang Xia nodded with a smile, then turned to look at Su Qing, seeing that he was already sitting in the chair with the cape tied around him.
"Qiuting, you see? With a face like his, he’ll look handsome no matter how you cut it. Don’t hesitate at all. One snip right here, and I guarantee he won’t have any ’idol baggage’ left."
He waggled his eyebrows and playfully messed with Su Qing’s hair, parting the long bangs down the middle. If he’d just been wearing a pair of gray overalls, the uncanny resemblance would have been overwhelming.
"Whoa, whoa, Old Jiang, don’t mess with me," Su Qing said, shaking his head to get his hand off.
He was completely at ease entrusting his haircut to Qiuting, but if it were Jiang Xia, he was 100% sure it would be a disaster.
"Ha, you get your cut. I’m going to take a shower."
Jiang Xia rubbed his head and returned to his dorm room. Tang Qiuting calmed herself and carefully studied the contours of Su Qing’s head, asking in a low voice, "Brother Su, do you have any requests for your hairstyle?"
"No requests. Just cut it however you see fit." Su Qing took off his glasses and smiled faintly.
"Oh."
Qiuting gave a soft acknowledgment and slowly picked up the clippers, guiding them along a comb to trim the excess hair. About seven or eight minutes later, Su Qing had a completely new hairstyle.
He put his glasses back on and looked at himself in the mirror from side to side. He looked different from his usual self. The hair, just a few millimeters long, hugged the shape of his head, giving him a well-rounded look that was bright, capable, gentle, and natural all at once.
After wiping away the cut hair with a sponge a few times, Qiuting helped him untie the cape.
"Brother Su, what do you think?" she asked quietly.
Su Qing smiled. "It’s great. Your haircutting skills are excellent."
He then took ten yuan out of his pants pocket and handed it to her, saying, "Next time I need a haircut, I’ll come to you again."
With that, he nodded to the others and went straight back to his dorm room.
Tang Qiuting stared blankly at the ten yuan in her hand for a moment. She had only intended to help a friend and had never thought about getting paid.
Just as she was about to pack up her tools and head back to the girls’ dorm, a boy nearby hesitantly spoke up. "Excuse me, do you think you could help me with a cut too? The barbershops outside must be packed right now. I’m not picky, any kind of flattop is fine."
"If it’s okay, I’d like you to cut my hair too. I’ll pay!" another student said.
"Yeah, yeah! Please, help us out!"
’Ah, this...’
Seeing so many people asking for her help, Tang Qiuting froze, unsure what to do. Dealing with this many strangers at once was beyond her comfort zone.
Helplessly, she turned to look at Sister Yanwan. Lin Yanwan said gently, "Qiuting, follow your heart. No matter what you decide, I’ll be here with you."
Tang Qiuting nodded slightly. She pressed her lips together, gripped the wooden comb in her hand tightly, and looked at the other boys. Her voice was faint. "O-Okay... But I’m not... not a professional. Students who want a haircut can... can form a line first."
The moment she finished speaking, a crowd of boys scrambled to form a line. After all, they had just witnessed Jiang Xia’s and Su Qing’s haircuts, and both of their buzz cuts looked great.
Cui Jiaying and the others watched, stunned. There were more than twenty people in line. Even if Qiuting took five minutes per person, it would still take an hour and a half.
"This is too many... I... I can’t finish all of them," the young woman said, waving her hands in a fluster.
Yet, not a single person left. In fact, two more got in line.
Tang Qiuting pushed up her glasses, a look of pure helplessness on her small face. "Then I’ll try to be faster... But, I’m really not accepting money."
Lin Yanwan couldn’t help but laugh to herself. ’At first, we just agreed to cut Jiang Xia’s and Su Qing’s hair. How did this turn into running a pop-up barbershop in Dorm Six?’
The main reason was that Qiuting’s skills were genuinely good. Otherwise, these boys probably wouldn’t be willing to get their hair cut here.
A little over half an hour later, Jiang Xia and Su Qing came downstairs, both dressed in their military training uniforms. Jiang Xia had originally planned to rest for a while at noon to have enough energy for the afternoon’s training.
But his girlfriend didn’t reply to his messages, and when he called, she only picked up after a long while. When Lin Yanwan told him that Qiuting was cutting other people’s hair, he was stunned.
It seemed events had exceeded expectations and were veering off in an unexpected direction.
When he got downstairs, he saw Si Si carrying several bottles of water, Lin Yanwan holding the tools and handing Qiuting whatever she needed, and Cui Jiaying clutching a wad of cash.
Jiang Xia and Su Qing exchanged a glance, both unable to hold back a chuckle. The girls had actually turned it into a real barbershop. With a line of a dozen or more people, business was booming.
If nothing else, the gimmick of girls giving haircuts in a boys’ dorm was certainly a spectacle.
The two of them stood by and watched for a while. As she became more practiced at cutting the boys’ hair, Tang Qiuting’s efficiency had increased significantly. With a few quick moves of the clippers, she could finish a flattop in about three minutes.
Jiang Xia walked over to his girlfriend’s side. Seeing the faint beads of sweat on her forehead, he took out a tissue and gently wiped them away.
"Let me take over. You rest for a bit."
Lin Yanwan shook her head, refusing. After all, the four of them were sisters from the same dorm room. And besides, she wasn’t about to let her man attend to other girls.
She looked at Jiang Xia in his military uniform, a ripple of emotion in her beautiful eyes. In her past life, military training had long been over by the time they met.
’So this is how handsome he can be!’
’It’s like his entire aura has changed!’
’Looks like I’ll have to buy him a set of these austere-looking uniforms. Not for any particular reason, of course. Just because they’re easy on the eyes.’
Lin Yanwan’s thoughts took a turn, and for some reason—perhaps imagining a certain scenario—her face grew a little red.
Since he couldn’t help, Jiang Xia had no choice but to stand at the end of the line and inform any new students who wanted to join that due to time constraints, Qiuting wouldn’t be cutting any more hair after finishing the current queue.
Su Qing went to find the dorm manager to borrow a broom and swept the scattered hair on the floor into a pile.
Finally, around one-thirty, Qiuting successfully gave everyone in line a regulation flattop. Then, some of them cleaned, others packed up, and they quickly restored the lobby to its original state.
"We’re going to head back to our room now," Lin Yanwan said to Jiang Xia.
"Go on. I’ll come get you later."
The girls returned to their dorm room to change into their military training uniforms. Cui Jiaying smiled as she handed the haircut money they had collected to Qiuting.
"Here, all the money is here. 240 yuan in total."
