Chapter 201: Chapter 199: Aunt Li, I Can’t Do It Without You

"Ah Xia, I quit my job," Li Weiya said with a smile.

Jiang Xia froze for a moment, then quickly recalled that Li Weiya had indeed told him she was planning to quit last month. But he’d been so busy lately that he’d forgotten to follow up. He never expected the good news to arrive so soon.

On a day like today, this was a double blessing.

"That’s fantastic news! Congrats on escaping the grind, Aunt Li!"

"And jump into your little pond, is that it?"

"It might be a little small now, but it’ll get bigger. Trust me, Aunt Li, I won’t let you down."

Li Weiya chuckled. She didn’t doubt Jiang Xia’s words. "So, what do you have planned for me?"

"Project Director. Ten thousand a month," Jiang Xia said without hesitation.

Right now, Qitian Animation Company only had the one *Cat and Mouse* project, so the project director would wield immense authority.

Hearing this number, Li Weiya was a little surprised. Back in 2009, the average salary in the country was only two or three thousand a month. Ten thousand was no small sum. Even at her previous company, her salary had only been about fifteen thousand.

’Looks like *Cat and Mouse* really made him a lot of money,’ she thought. ’Otherwise, he wouldn’t dare make an offer like this.’

"Such a high salary? There must be a catch, right?" Li Weiya asked.

"Heh heh, you figured it out," Jiang Xia said with a grin. "If you agree to come with me to develop the business in the Imperial Capital, Aunt Li, I’ll add another ten thousand to your salary."

The corner of Li Weiya’s mouth twitched. She knew it would be something like this.

’This kid. He’s had his eye on me for more than a day or two.’

It made sense when she thought about it. Once they got to the Imperial Capital, the company would need a new location, the studio would need to be restructured, and they’d have to hire new people. On top of that, there would be all sorts of miscellaneous issues to handle. Without her help, it would be incredibly difficult for Jiang Xia to manage it all on his own.

Plus, he still had classes to attend. That would leave him with even less time.

"Let me think about it."

She sighed. Honestly, she was thirty-eight, nearly forty. It wasn’t that she felt old, but she really didn’t want the hassle of starting over in a new city.

’But looking at it another way,’ she thought, ’joining a young company at thirty-eight... doesn’t that mean I’m supposed to go on one more crazy adventure with them?’

The truth was, Jiang Xia was always finding new ways to keep her busy, and to be honest, she sometimes quite enjoyed it.

She always felt that working with these young people made her feel much younger herself. At her old company, all she wanted to do was slack off every day.

Besides, if she went to the Imperial Capital, she could see her son more often. The crucial question, though, was what to do with her house here? Should she leave it vacant or rent it out?

She couldn’t figure it all out right now; there were too many things to consider. Ultimately, she’d have to find time to discuss it thoroughly with Ah Ming.

"Let’s talk about you. I heard from Ah Ming that the second season of *Cat and Mouse* is already finished?" she asked, abruptly changing the subject.

"Yep, it’s all done. We just need to finalize things with the TV station, and it should be on air soon," Jiang Xia said with a smile. "Aunt Li, in a couple of days, Ah Ming, Yanwan, and I have to head back to school. We’ll have to trouble you with signing the TV station contract."

Li Weiya felt a flash of exasperation. ’What was I just thinking a moment ago?’

’This kid really knows how to keep me busy, that’s for sure.’

"Alright. Leave the documents, the company seal, and all that with me. I’ll go negotiate with them," she agreed. "But you have to give me the bottom line on the price beforehand."

’After all, I’m about to join his team, so I’d better start producing results.’

’Besides, this kind of business negotiation is exactly what a project director should be doing.’

"I’ll also assign an operations manager to you. She’s the one currently coordinating with our partners, so if there’s anything you’re unsure about, you can ask her directly," Jiang Xia said with a smile.

"Okay."

"Oh, right. Aunt Li, there’s a celebration dinner tonight, and I’d like to invite you. Ah Ming will be there too," Jiang Xia said suddenly.

Li Weiya hesitated. "Me? Wouldn’t that be... inappropriate?"

"How could it be inappropriate? Aunt Li, please don’t say no. I’ve considered you a part of Qitian Animation for a long time. Your help has been indispensable to Qitian Animation’s journey. In my eyes, there’s no one who deserves to be there more than you."

Jiang Xia said earnestly, "Besides, I want to take this opportunity to formally introduce you to the team. If you don’t come, I’ll just have to come and drag you there myself."

Li Weiya felt a bit resigned. He had put it so strongly; it would be rude to refuse now.

’Still,’ she thought, ’it feels wonderful to hear my student place so much importance on me.’

"Alright then. What time and where is it?"

"Six o’clock at the Fenghua Hotel. Ah Ming knows the exact address."

"I’m still at my old office. I have a few last things to wrap up, so I won’t go with him. I’ll head over myself later," Li Weiya said.

"Alright."

Jiang Xia pressed his lips together. "By the way, Aunt Li, do you think I should invite the two temp workers to the celebration dinner?"

Li Weiya paused, then laughed. "You silly goose. They aren’t local, how could they come? Have I really not mentioned this to you before?"

"I... don’t think you did."

Jiang Xia said weakly. Even the outsourcing contract had been handled entirely by Li Weiya; he had only given it a quick look.

"Er... then how should I pay them?"

"Oh, that. Just give the money to me. I’ll wire it directly to their accounts."

"Sounds good."

"Anything else? If not, I’m going to hang up."

"Nope, that’s it! It’s just... Aunt Li, you have to come! I can’t do it without you!"

"Alright, alright, I get it," Li Weiya said, laughing. ’This kid. He’s a grown man, but he’s still whining at me like he’s my own son.’

Hanging up the phone, Jiang Xia let out a long sigh of relief. Now that he’d managed to coax Aunt Li into joining the company, he just had to figure out how to coax her into moving to the Imperial Capital.

There were two women who were essential to his entrepreneurial journey. Without Aunt Li’s help, he’d be lost.

But salary alone probably wouldn’t be enough to convince her. Looks like he’d have to go plant some ideas with Ah Ming and paint a grand picture for him. Then, with both her "sons" working their magic on her, the move to the Imperial Capital should be a sure thing.

’A godson is still a son, right?’

"How did your chat with your godmother go?" Lin Yanwan asked, walking in while holding Yuyuan.

"She agreed. And coincidentally, she happened to quit her job today. I offered her the project director position. When we go to the Imperial Capital, she can hold down the fort here," Jiang Xia said, stroking Yuyuan’s head.

Lin Yanwan nodded gently. Jiang Xia had discussed this with her before. The company really needed a strong pillar right now. Jiang Xia couldn’t personally handle everything; he just didn’t have the time or energy to manage it all.

That made Li Weiya the perfect choice.
