After the Divorce, My Wife and I Were Both Reborn
Chapter 137 - 136: Bullying a Drunk Wife
Chapter 137: Chapter 136: Bullying a Drunk Wife
The river breeze blew, the waves lapped gently, and the dappled moonlight was sparse. A strand of black hair swept across her eyes, and Jiang Xia raised his hand, gently tucking it behind her ear.
Then, they linked arms and drank, their glasses crossing in the air. Lin Yanwan tilted her head back and downed the drink. Perhaps she drank too quickly, as a faint white foam from the beer trickled from the corner of her mouth, leaving a light trail along her exquisite, snow-white jawline.
Jiang Xia smiled and raised his hand, using the back of it to wipe her mouth. "That’s enough, baby. We’re not drinking anymore."
"Mmm..."
Lin Yanwan nodded, her face flushed. She wasn’t a big drinker; after two bottles, she was already getting dizzy. Her drunken eyes were captivating, exuding an indescribable charm.
Wang Ming was dying of envy as he watched them. He grabbed a beer bottle and kept chugging. ’The boss’s wife is truly the best woman I’ve ever met.’
"You guys keep eating. I’m going to take Yanwan home first," Jiang Xia said, helping his wobbly wife to her feet. "Remember to have the owner print an invoice. The company will reimburse it tomorrow."
Shen Ying wolfed down her meat skewer and quickly stood up. "Mmph, I’m pretty much done. Why don’t I take Yanwan home, Boss? You two can stay and eat."
’Her best friend is obviously drunk,’ she thought. ’What if Jiang Xia has ulterior motives and takes her to a hotel? Wouldn’t he take advantage of her?’
’Even though they’re a couple, isn’t it a bit too early for them to go all the way? I wonder if they’ve already...’
"It’s... It’s fine, Yingying. He can take me home," Lin Yanwan said, gently shaking her head. Her flushed little face was adorable.
"Then I’ll take you to the restroom first."
Shen Ying immediately went up, linked arms with her, and led her toward the restroom. She whispered in her ear, "Yanwan, aren’t you afraid he’ll... you know... with you?"
"H-He wouldn’t dare." Lin Yanwan secretly glanced at Jiang Xia, but in her heart, she was thinking, ’Things between us crossed the line a long time ago.’
’He’ll just use my being drunk as an excuse to kiss and touch me, taking a little advantage. We’ve already tried every position imaginable, countless times. The only regret is not having a child.’
"Forget it. I’m done worrying about you," Shen Ying said with a pout. "You’re just a little girl head over heels in love, with him on your mind all the time. I really don’t know what kind of love potion the boss fed you to make you trust him so much."
Lin Yanwan just smiled without explaining. ’We’re like an old married couple,’ she thought. ’It’d be a problem if we *didn’t* trust each other.’
She pushed open the restroom door and went in. A moment later, the sound of a toilet flushing was heard. When she came out, Jiang Xia was waiting for her.
"Are you okay?" He took his wife’s hand, led her to the sink, squeezed some soap for her to wash them clean, and then dried them with a paper towel.
Lin Yanwan squinted, letting him take care of her. "Mmm, I just feel a little light-headed when I walk. I’m fine otherwise."
"Do you want to walk around outside a bit to sober up, or should we just get a taxi home?"
"Let’s get some air," she said.
He put an arm around his wife’s shoulders, and they walked out of the open-air diner, leaving Wang Ming and Shen Ying to awkwardly finish the grilled fish.
"When you get to the Central Academy of Fine Arts, you need to study hard, you hear?"
"Uh-huh."
"I hear the girls in the Imperial Capital are all very pretty. You should find a gentle and kind girl to be your girlfriend. Don’t let any bad girls trick you."
"Uh-huh."
"Also, stay in touch with Jiang Xia and Yanwan. If you’re ever unsure about something, ask them. They’re more mature than you."
"Uh-huh."
"Is ’uh-huh’ all you can say? I’m being serious with you. You better take this to heart, you know," Shen Ying said, annoyed, as she poked his face with the end of her chopstick.
"You’re not my sister," Wang Ming mumbled. "Besides, I might even be older than you."
"No way. I’m two months older than you," Shen Ying said with a grin.
"How do you know that?"
"I saw it when we signed our contracts. Your birthday is in October, and mine is in August." Shen Ying chuckled. "See? I was right, wasn’t I? Now, call me ’Big Sis’!"
"No way!"
"It’s fine if you don’t. I’ve already accepted you as my little brother anyway!" Shen Ying nonchalantly patted Wang Ming’s shoulder. "If you have time in the future, come visit me at Gongshang University. Big Sis will have your back!"
Wang Ming’s mouth twitched violently. He remembered joking with Old Jiang before, wishing that all lovers in the world would turn out to be long-lost siblings. He never thought it would actually come true for him.
’What a cruel twist of fate!’
「◇」
After Jiang Xia and Lin Yanwan left the open-air diner, she staggered, unable to walk steadily. It was only because Jiang Xia was supporting her that she didn’t fall.
"Let’s go sit on the steps by the river?" he said.
"Mmm..."
Lin Yanwan answered dazedly, leaning almost her entire body against Jiang Xia, her loose hair messily covering her flushed cheeks.
Jiang Xia breathed in the scent of alcohol on her, held her slender waist tightly, and carefully sat down in the middle of the steps.
The moon was full tonight. Its soft glow scattered across the river, creating a shimmering, sparkling surface.
Lin Yanwan closed her eyes and rested on his shoulder. For some reason, she always felt a strange sense of peace whenever she was by his side.
"Yingying secretly told me just now that she was afraid you’d take me to a hotel and get a room," she giggled.
"Oh? How did I not think of that? She just gave me the idea. I’ll take you to a hotel and get a room right now," Jiang Xia said with a laugh, holding her hand.
"Go ahead if you have the guts. My head’s all fuzzy right now, and I don’t have any strength in my body. You can do whatever you want with me anyway. It’s not like I can resist~"
She looked at Jiang Xia, her eyes full of seductive charm. After drinking, she was even more alluring than usual, showing a hint of the captivating demeanor she had after they were married in their past life.
’What a headache.’
"You think I don’t dare, don’t you?"
Jiang Xia playfully lifted her chin. She closed her eyes and parted her lips slightly. The scent of wine from her lips was like a shot of dopamine, igniting his inner desires and making him kiss her without a second thought.
Lin Yanwan wrapped her arms around his neck and responded. After a long while, the fierce dance of their lips and tongues slowly came to a halt.
Jiang Xia gently caressed her beautiful cheek and whispered, "Baby, you’re so beautiful today. I so want to bully you."
"You’re already bullying me," she whispered back. "You kissed my lips until they’re swollen."
Jiang Xia chuckled and playfully pinched his wife’s delicate nose. He remembered how, in his memories, she would become clingy and cute like a little girl whenever she got drunk, exactly like she was now.
"Actually, my current ambitions aren’t nearly as grand as what I told Old Wang and the others," Jiang Xia said suddenly, his gaze fixed on a ship slowly passing on the river. He could vaguely make out people on the deck looking toward the city.
"Oh?"
"I just want you to live a good life, and for our parents to live a good life. That’s all." His tone became very serious.
"Me too..."
She closed her eyes again, relaxing into Jiang Xia’s embrace and holding him tight. ’I wasn’t wrong to love this man.’
"Hubby, I just want to build a good home with you. Don’t chase me away like you did before. Even if life gets hard and exhausting, I’m willing to stay."
Suddenly, the sound of a ship’s horn carried on the wind, mingling with her murmurs as it all gradually drifted away.
...
(Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day. I’m going to get our marriage certificate with my wife~)
