Chapter 126: Chapter 125: Feeding My Wife

After hanging up, Jiang Xia felt invigorated and radiant. He got out of bed, changed into clean clothes, and sprayed some gel in his hair, styling it to look sharp. He checked himself in the mirror, certain his wife would plant a kiss on him the moment she saw him.

After he finished washing up, he saw no one else at home. As usual, a concise note was left on the table.

Son:

I have some things to take care of at school. For lunch, buy some groceries and go have a meal at your mother-in-law’s. Don’t worry about your dad.

Mom

Seeing the 200 yuan on the table, held down by a small box, Jiang Xia’s lip twitched. His entire weekly allowance used to be less than this. Now that he had a girlfriend, it felt like he was never short on cash.

’Besides, how can she call it freeloading? That’s my own wife! Isn’t it perfectly normal for a married couple to eat together?’

He nonchalantly pocketed the two hundred yuan of spending money and pulled out his phone to send a message to the company group chat.

[Jiang Xia - Boss]: @everyone, meet at the Ionia Internet Cafe at 6:30 tonight. We’re celebrating the premiere of Cat and Mouse!

[Lin Yanwan - Lady Boss]: The Ionia Internet Cafe? I think... Chen Yao works there, right? smile.jpg

[Wang Ming - Artist]: Holy shit! Is something going on?! I never would’ve guessed, Old Jiang! So you’re that kind of guy!

[Shen Ying - Operations Director]: Boss, no way, no way... You aren’t actually cheating on our lady boss, are you?

[Jiang Xia - Boss]: What’s with all this nonsense? It’s just easier to arrange things when you know someone there. How else are we supposed to book a private room in advance? Are you all going to go there early and save us seats? Anyway, that’s all. Meeting dismissed!

After the "morning meeting," Jiang Xia left the house humming a tune. He gave his darling wife a call, thinking he needed to hurry up and make last night’s dream a reality.

"My dearest wife, good morning."

"You’re coming over? Mmm... then pick up some breakfast. Xiao Man wants soy milk and fried dough sticks."

"And you?"

"Just bring me a flower roll. Only one. It’s a waste to buy more if I can’t finish it."

"You got it."

After buying breakfast at the bun shop downstairs, Jiang Xia hailed a cab and headed straight to his wife’s house.

When he got there, he saw the door wasn’t locked, just propped open with a small stool.

It reminded him of how she used to say she wouldn’t let him sleep in her bed, but would still leave the door cracked open for him at night.

He gently pushed the door open and stepped inside. He saw his wife combing his little sister-in-law’s hair. She was wearing a white T-shirt under a denim jumper, revealing a pair of long, slender, fair legs that were absolutely captivating.

"Brother-in-law, good morning!" Xiao Man’s little face lit up when she saw him.

"Good morning, Xiao Man." Jiang Xia smiled slightly, walked into the kitchen, cut the fried dough sticks into sections, and reheated the soy milk.

Then he brought the flower roll close to his wife’s mouth and said, "Let me feed you."

"It’s not like I don’t have hands," Lin Yanwan couldn’t help but roll her eyes at him.

"I just want to feed you. What are you gonna do about it? Hurry up and open your mouth. Ahh~"

"Ahhh~~~"

That came from Lin Xiaoman, who had her mouth wide open, staring eagerly at the flower roll in her brother-in-law’s hand.

"This isn’t for you. It’s your sister’s. Your breakfast is the soy milk and fried dough sticks," he chuckled.

So, Lin Yanwan opened her mouth and took a small bite, then smugly shook her head in front of her sister. ’So what if you call him brother-in-law so sweetly? He’s still *my* darling husband, isn’t he?’

"Hmph. All you do all day is show off how in love you are. I’m still a kid, you know," Xiao Man pouted.

Jiang Xia smiled without a word, feeding his wife one bite at a time. A bite of the flower roll, a sip of milk... He just happened to push a little too hard, and the milky white liquid spilled from the corners of her mouth.

"Mmph... That’s too much."

Lin Yanwan’s cheeks puffed out as she struggled to swallow. Slowly, she licked the milk from her lips and shot him a glare, a mixture of shame and annoyance. ’Can’t he be more careful?’

"Sorry, sorry. I couldn’t help it," Jiang Xia said sheepishly as he took the straw from her mouth. For some reason, he found the way his wife looked just now to be incredibly hot.

"Just put it on the table. I’ll eat it myself," she said.

"Mmm..."

Two minutes later, Lin Yanwan finished tying up her sister’s hair, clapped her hands, and said, "Alright, go wash your hands and eat."

While the sisters ate breakfast, Jiang Xia sat on a floor cushion, holding Yuyuan and petting him. ’This little cat... All it ever does is sleep. How can it be so drowsy all the time?’

"Why don’t you go scoop Yuyuan’s litter box? It looks like his food bowl is empty, and his water needs to be changed, too," Lin Yanwan said, glancing at him as she ate her roll.

"Alright."

After he finished the trifecta of scooping the litter, filling the food bowl, and changing the water, Lin Yanwan was almost done eating. His little sister-in-law was hugging the cat and watching TV.

"I got a call from Chief Zhou this morning. The contract payment should be transferred to our account today," Jiang Xia said suddenly.

"Really? But I haven’t gotten a text message yet."

"They have text alerts in this era?" he asked, puzzled.

"They should. When I opened the account, the bank teller specifically mentioned it to me." Lin Yanwan pursed her lips, also unsure. "If we don’t get a text, we can just go to the bank this afternoon and check."

"Yeah, and while we’re there, let’s take out the salaries for those two. We’ll pay them today," Jiang Xia said with a smile.

"How much should we withdraw? 700?"

"Let’s make it 1,000 each. The extra is a bonus for all the overtime they’ve been putting in."

As he spoke, a devious grin appeared on his face. "Bonuses are always the best motivation to make employees work hard. Summer vacation is still two months long. After the break, they’ll all have to work insane overtime for me! Twelve episodes in two months—even if it means working 996 or 007, they’re gonna have to grind it out!"

"You’d make a Wall Street capitalist weep," Lin Yanwan said, exasperated.

After lunch, she received a text from the bank: a successful deposit of 48,000. Now, Jiang Xia could finally relax.

The afternoon sun blazed high in the sky, and waves of heat radiated from the pavement. It was the kind of day where a single walk outside would leave you drenched in sweat.

The three of them stayed at home with the AC on, eating ice cream and watching TV. Partway through, his little sister-in-law went to her room for a nap, and Jiang Xia seized the opportunity to have some alone time with his wife.

He didn’t do anything too drastic—just pulled her onto his lap and secretly caressed her smooth legs. Even so, she nearly crushed his thigh with her weight.

Lin Yanwan bit him hard, then stood up, her face flushed as she straightened her clothes. Lingering, heated kiss marks remained on her fair neck, and little hickeys were hidden beneath her shoulder strap. If not for the firm will she’d gained after her rebirth, she might have let him grope her all over in a daze.

"If you do that again, I’m telling Mom!" she threatened.

"Ahem, Mrs. Xia," he coughed. "You wouldn’t want to spend the rest of your life in a sexless marriage, would you?"

"Pah!"

She raised her foot to stomp down between his legs, but Jiang Xia caught her by her smooth ankle. Her toes were like polished jade, and the arch of her foot was exquisitely shaped. Before he could properly admire it, Lin Yanwan lost her balance and tumbled into his arms.

Jiang Xia hastily let go of her ankle to catch her, and the two of them tumbled onto the sofa in a heap.

And just at that moment, the sound of a key turning in the lock suddenly came from the door. The next second, the door swung open, and his father-in-law, Lin Gaoyuan, appeared in the doorway.
