After the Divorce, My Wife and I Were Both Reborn
Chapter 115 - 114: A Man Can Bend and Stretch
Chapter 115: Chapter 114: A Man Can Bend and Stretch
Jiang Xia browsed the official website for Tongji University, feeling Lin Yanwan slowly slide down his lap. His mischievous hands cupped her bottom, adjusting her into a much more comfortable position for himself.
The summer clothes were thin, and Lin Yanwan could clearly feel something hard poking her. Blushing, she pinched Jiang Xia’s arm forcefully and chided, "Don’t move."
"Ahem, that... it’s purely a natural, physical reaction." Jiang Xia looked sheepish. "I’m being good."
"Good, my ass!" Lin Yanwan feigned anger and slapped away his restless hand from her rear. It had been subtly grinding against her this whole time. ’Did he really think I wouldn’t notice?’
"No, let me up. I’ll grab a stool for myself, lest you let your mind wander and start thinking dirty thoughts."
"I’m your stool, and a soft one at that. Don’t just sit on me—you can straddle me if you want."
Jiang Xia shamelessly wrapped his arms around her waist and firmly pulled her back onto his lap. His body went rigid, and he had to instinctively practice his self-control. Lin Yanwan, meanwhile, let out a soft, red-faced gasp and clamped her legs shut.
"You... My mom’s right outside!"
She shot Jiang Xia a flustered glare, her face flushed a deep, alluring crimson. She went still on his lap, but her heart was pounding in her throat.
Inhaling her fragrance, Jiang Xia took a deep breath. His thoughts had almost gotten away from him; he didn’t dare let them run wild again.
After all, he was a young man, full of vigor. At this age, brimming with enough testosterone to drill through a steel plate, the slightest lapse in concentration could mean a trip to do laundry.
"Right, anyway, let’s get back to business."
Jiang Xia pointed to the Tongji University website and, in a slightly stiff tone, continued, "Tongji University, like Peking University, is a Double First-Class key university directly administered by the Ministry of Education. A degree from there carries a lot of weight. But the drawbacks are obvious, too. Even though their cutoff score for liberal arts isn’t low, it’s a bona fide engineering school. The liberal arts programs don’t get much attention. With your scores, honestly, you’d be better off at Peking University. Going to Tongji would be something of a waste."
"You have to consider us," Lin Yanwan said.
"Let’s go to Peking University together." Jiang Xia smiled. "No matter what you say, the Imperial Capital is still the Imperial Capital. You can’t go wrong there."
"But Qitian Animation Company..."
"Don’t worry, I have it all figured out." Jiang Xia gently squeezed her hand. "The next few years are the age of the internet. As long as our animation is good, the name Qitian Animation will be famous, even across the ocean."
Lin Yanwan frowned and didn’t answer. Her fingers flew across the keyboard. A quick search revealed that Peking University did not offer an art and design major for undergraduates; it was only available as a graduate program.
Jiang Xia stared at the admissions information on the screen, dumbfounded. ’They actually do that?’
"See? Now we can only go to Tongji."
Lin Yanwan felt a strange sense of happiness. It didn’t matter if Tongji’s liberal arts programs weren’t great. As long as the two of them could stay together, it was better than going their separate ways.
"But..." Jiang Xia pursed his lips, still wanting to list Tongji’s other shortcomings.
"There are no buts. It’s decided. Tongji is a century-old university, after all. It has a rich heritage. Even if its liberal arts aren’t the best, how bad can they be? Besides... have you forgotten what I studied in my past life? Financial management. And what was the result? I graduated into a job that had nothing to do with my major and ended up as a music teacher."
Jiang Xia was left speechless by her retort.
It made sense when he thought about it. Even if he had gotten into the Central Academy of Fine Arts, he probably wouldn’t have just stuck to the curriculum. He’d spend most of his time working on his animation company anyway.
"Hmm, this... let me think it over a little more."
Jiang Xia couldn’t make a decision right away. In any case, they had three days to submit their choices. He could think it over more when he got back. There was no need to rush.
Just then, Lin Xiaoman’s voice called out, "Sister! Sister!" as she suddenly pushed the door open. Lin Yanwan’s heart skipped a beat, and she reflexively shot up from his lap.
She glanced out of the corner of her eye at the obvious tent in Jiang Xia’s gray pants, her face flushing. ’This guy is completely shameless!’
"Sister, Brother Jiang Xia, what are you two...?"
Lin Xiaoman blinked, her gaze darting between her sister and her brother-in-law. Her sister’s face was bright red, and her brother-in-law suddenly had a thick book on his lap. The air in the room felt strange, too, in a way she couldn’t quite describe.
Her eyes lit up as she stared at her sister’s stomach. ’Could they be secretly making a baby?’
"Um, your Brother Jiang Xia and I were having a heated discussion about our college applications. Xiao Man, did you need us for something?" Lin Yanwan tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, trying to act calm.
"Mommy was just quizzing me on my lessons and vocabulary, and I got everything right! So now I’m going out to play with her. Teacher Xia said it’s called pre-exam relaxation, and that you can only do well on a test if you have a good mindset," his little sister-in-law said earnestly.
"Master Xiao Man is right," Jiang Xia said, nodding with a smile.
"Hehe~"
Xiao Man gave her sister’s sleeve a conspiratorial tug. When Lin Yanwan crouched down, she leaned in and whispered in her ear, "Sister, I’ll try to keep Mom busy outside for as long as possible. That way, you and Brother-in-law can have some quality time alone~"
Lin Yanwan’s face instantly flushed crimson. ’Where on earth does she learn these things?’
’Quality time alone with Jiang Xia? Does she want him to eat me all up?’
Ji Wanqiu stood outside the door, smiling at the two of them. "Have you two reached a decision?"
"We’re still looking, Aunt Ji."
"Well, you two keep discussing it. I’m taking Xiao Man out for a bit. She wants ice cream."
Lin Xiaoman made a face. "Sister, Brother Jiang Xia, I’ll bring you back something yummy!"
With that, she skipped out of the room and gently closed the door.
Lin Yanwan let out a sigh of relief and glared at Jiang Xia, her cheeks puffed out. That was close. They were almost discovered.
"All you know how to do is grind, grind, grind. Control your little monster! If you don’t, I’m telling Mom you’re bullying me."
"Ah... Spare me, milady!"
A wise man knows when to bend the knee. Jiang Xia immediately begged for mercy in embarrassment. He felt wronged, too. He had a beauty in his arms, and he wasn’t a saint. Getting a reaction was only natural.
For his wife’s sake, he hadn’t spent any quality time with his five best friends in ages. His pent-up energy was like a dormant volcano, ready to erupt at the slightest provocation.
"Hmph! I’m going to get some water. You stay here and figure it out yourself."
Lin Yanwan snorted softly. She knew exactly what state he was in. If this were their previous life when they were married, all she’d have to do was crook a finger, and he would have eagerly pulled the curtains to tumble in the sheets with her all day.
’But now... I’m going to make him suffer. It’s his own fault for holding it all in.’
’Serves him right!’
...
(I’ve had a headache all day and am not feeling well. It actually took me over five hours of writing on and off to finish this one Chapter... Everyone, go to bed early.)
