After the Divorce, I Unlocked a Perfect Life

Chapter 435 - 265: Qin Yangyang Meets Her Mother-in-law

The group arrived at a private room in Champion Scholar Tower.

The six of them split into three groups.

Li Yueting, Li Rongjun, and Meng Hongqin formed one group, chatting about academics.

Shen Qingqiu and Li Xiaoping were another, making small talk.

Lin Jiang was left out on his own, with no one paying him any mind.

’This is the kind of treatment a billionaire gets? It’s completely backward!’

After all the dishes were served, the situation remained the same.

Li Xiaoping was beaming, constantly putting food on Shen Qingqiu’s plate. Anyone who didn’t know better would have thought they were already mother and daughter-in-law.

"COUGH COUGH COUGH..."

"Auntie, have some water."

Having choked on a chili pepper, Li Xiaoping coughed a few times.

Shen Qingqiu immediately poured her a glass of water, acting gentle and considerate.

Li Xiaoping took the glass, her smile one of pure gratification.

The meal didn’t last long, ending in just over an hour.

"Dear, once you’re on break, you should come visit us. The scenery back home is lovely, too."

Li Xiaoping grasped Shen Qingqiu’s hands, reluctant to let go.

During the meal, Li Xiaoping had learned that Shen Qingqiu had been a good student since she was little and had even studied abroad. She wished the two of them could go get their marriage license right now.

Smart, a good cook, beautiful, a university teacher, gentle and virtuous—

Shen Qingqiu had maxed out all the daughter-in-law buffs.

"I know. We’ll go back once the break starts."

Shen Qingqiu had also gotten used to this kind of conversation.

The most important thing was to keep the elder happy; she couldn’t be a wet blanket.

That’s what Lin Jiang had done in the past, too.

Li Xiaoping looked at Lin Jiang.

"You take her back for a visit during the summer break. I’m giving you this task."

"She still has to tutor Tongtong. How could she have the time?"

"Well, she can’t be studying every single day. There’s always time for a break. You can go and come back on the same day. Just think of it as a little getaway."

"The timing is too tight, and besides..."

Halfway through his sentence, Lin Jiang noticed his mother shooting daggers at him with her eyes.

"Fine, fine, whatever you say."

After "knifing" Lin Jiang with her glare, Li Xiaoping turned back to Shen Qingqiu, her expression once again becoming a brilliant smile.

She grabbed her hands, stroking them back and forth without stopping.

"Dear, it’s settled then. You two will come back during the break, and Auntie will make you something delicious."

"Okay, I understand, Auntie."

They stood at the entrance, exchanging pleasantries for quite a while.

If Lin Jiang hadn’t interrupted them,

Comrade Li could have kept Shen Qingqiu there chatting for an hour without repeating herself once.

Because time was tight and their task was important, Shen Qingqiu took Li Yueting back for tutoring right after the meal.

What’s more, Li Xiaoping even made Shen Qingqiu take all the fruit she had originally prepared for Lin Jiang, not even giving her a chance to refuse.

That afternoon, the four of them didn’t go anywhere else.

Lin Jiang took them clothes shopping at Henglong Square.

They had originally planned to go to Berkeley, but many of the tenants there had moved out, so the selection wasn’t as good as other places. Consequently, they went to Henglong Square instead, with Lin Jiang paying for everything.

Around seven in the evening, the four of them finished dinner at the mall.

"Let’s go. You can stay at my place tonight," Lin Jiang said to the other three.

"We won’t go. We should be heading back. There’s nothing for us to do here," Li Rongjun said.

With her heavy tutoring schedule, Li Yueting had no time to come out and spend time with them, so naturally, they didn’t plan to stay any longer.

"You came all this way. It wouldn’t be right for you not to even visit my home. Don’t worry, for my aunt’s sake, I won’t charge you."

"I don’t have any money even if you were to charge me. I have other things to do tomorrow. I’ll come visit again in the future," Li Rongjun said.

"If she hadn’t kept saying how tiring her studies were, we wouldn’t have even come today. Seeing her today, she seems to be doing fine, so we’re not worried anymore."

"I’m here. Even if she doesn’t get into grad school, she won’t starve in the future. You two don’t need to worry."

"That’s my great nephew for you."

Laughing heartily, Li Rongjun clapped Lin Jiang on the shoulder and left with Meng Hongqin.

As was to be expected, Lin Jiang took Li Xiaoping back to Century Triumph.

Seeing the 681-square-meter apartment, Li Xiaoping stood frozen at the entrance for a long moment.

"Son, isn’t this apartment you bought a little too big? How much did this cost?"

"It wasn’t that much. Don’t worry about the size, as long as it’s comfortable to live in."

Once inside, Li Xiaoping looked all around, sighing with emotion for a while.

An apartment this big... Forget about in the city, she hadn’t even seen many houses this large back in their village.

"Go have a seat. I’ll get you some fruit."

After settling Li Xiaoping in the living room, Lin Jiang went to the kitchen.

Just then, the doorbell rang. When he opened the door, he saw Qin Yangyang standing outside.

She was wearing a pink T-shirt with a pixelated graphic that obscured her impressive figure.

"Just getting off work now?"

"No, I was just cleaning my place. Hug me, I’m exhausted."

Qin Yangyang whined, stretching out her arms to hug Lin Jiang.

"Are you sure you want a hug?"

"Of course I’m sure. And it has to be a hug. Nothing else will do."

Forcefully, Qin Yangyang launched herself at Lin Jiang, wrapping her arms around his neck and her legs around his waist, clinging to him like a koala.

And just like that, Lin Jiang walked into the living room, supporting Qin Yangyang’s bottom.

In Lin Jiang’s arms, Qin Yangyang and Li Xiaoping’s eyes met. The air seemed to freeze in that instant.

Seeing Li Xiaoping’s age and then her appearance, Qin Yangyang realized something was wrong.

She scrambled down from Lin Jiang, so nervous she couldn’t even speak.

"Th-This wouldn’t be Auntie, would it?"

"You got it."

Upon confirming Li Xiaoping’s identity, Qin Yangyang’s heart nearly leaped out of her throat.

Thinking about her tone and attitude with Lin Jiang just moments ago, she wished she could find a hole to crawl into and hide.

"Auntie, I’m Lin Jiang’s girlfriend. My name is Qin Yangyang..."
