The assistant drove the car back into the city and stopped directly near Lei’s Nightclub.

Shangguan Feng just glanced at the nightclub across the street, then immediately ordered his assistant to go find out whether Lei Qingqing was there.

"If they ask, just say I have a few friends coming in from abroad and I want to consult Miss Ray about hotel arrangements."

The assistant agreed, got out of the car, crossed the road, and walked into the nightclub. He made a round inside, then went up to the bar and found someone to ask.

"Is Miss Ray here?"

Hearing someone asking about Lei Qingqing, one of Lei’s men standing to the side immediately walked over, giving Shangguan Feng’s assistant a once-over from head to toe. "Who are you, and what do you want with her?"

The assistant smiled. "I’m Randy, assistant to Mr. Shangguan Feng. There are some things I’d like to ask Miss Ray about."

When he heard the name Shangguan Feng, that underling’s expression eased at once.

In Rome City, they had of course heard of the Shangguan Family’s methods. They knew Shangguan Feng’s father had close ties with their own boss, so they were naturally quite polite to Shangguan Feng’s assistant as well. "The lady stepped out on some business, she’s not here."

"I see. Then I’ll have my boss get in touch with her again." Assistant Randy thanked him, walked out of the nightclub, crossed the street, got back into the car, and reported what he’d learned to Shangguan Feng. "Miss Ray isn’t at the nightclub. They said she went out on business."

Shangguan Feng raised his eyebrows, then took out his phone and dialed Lei Qingqing’s number.

The call connected quickly.

"Young Master Shangguan, is something the matter?" Lei Qingqing’s tone was polite and courteous.

Shangguan Feng made an effort to keep his voice casual and calm. "Nothing much. I just have a few friends coming in from abroad, and I want to book a few rooms for them at Miss Ray’s hotel. I’m not sure if you’re at the hotel right now?"

"Young Master Shangguan, you really are too polite. For a small matter like this, just have your assistant make a call; there’s no need for you to inquire personally." Lei Qingqing chuckled on the other end of the line. "I’m not at the hotel at the moment, but it’s fine. I’ll have someone call you back in a while. I’m a bit busy these days, I probably won’t be going to the hotel. But don’t worry, I’ll instruct them to take good care of your friends."

"Then I’ll trouble you with it. When you’re less busy, I’ll thank you in person." Shangguan Feng exchanged a few more pleasantries with her, then hung up. "To the Lei Family Restaurant."

Lei’s had countless businesses under its banner. The places Lei Qingqing usually frequented were the hotel, nightclub, and restaurant. Shangguan Feng’s assistant had already checked all this thoroughly. Now that she wasn’t at the first two, she had to be at the Lei Family Restaurant.

The assistant didn’t dare slack off. He quickly started the car and drove to the Lei Family Restaurant.

The Lei Family Restaurant wasn’t very far from the nightclub, so they arrived shortly. It was already evening; there weren’t many cars outside the restaurant. Shangguan Feng ordered his assistant to park where they could see the main entrance, then took the binoculars and watched the direction of the door.

"Sir, let me do it?" Assistant Randy volunteered.

"It’s fine, I can hold out a while longer. You go buy two iced coffees and some snacks. We’re staking out here tonight." Shangguan Feng said as he stared at the restaurant in the distance.

"Alright." Assistant Randy pushed the car door open and got out.

A short while later, he came back with coffee and food and handed them to Shangguan Feng.

Shangguan Feng took the coffee and drank, his gaze still drifting toward the opposite side from time to time.

"Sir..." Assistant Randy ate as well. "Have you fallen in love with Miss Xu?"
