Chapter 1642: Chapter 1641: How to Explain

Chapter 1641 How Do You Explain This

Nan Mengyu immediately followed up: "Yeah, Gu Ouyang, how do you explain this kid looking so much like you? And don’t start with ’the kid had plastic surgery.’ Our country doesn’t have that kind of tech yet, that can make such a little kid look this much like you."

"So even if this child wasn’t born by you and Ye Rushui, he was still born by you and some other woman!"

Everyone listening felt this sounded awfully familiar.

Thinking back, wasn’t this exactly what Gu Ouyang said to Gu Dongxing? Only the three characters Gu Dongxing were swapped out for the four characters Gu Ouyang.

Everyone burst into knowing laughter.

But then, remembering how just now Gu Ouyang had been desperate to dump this bucket of shit on Gu Dongxing’s head, everyone suddenly understood: this Gu Ouyang is really disgusting—he lives a messy private life, has an illegitimate son, and yet just to take down Gu Dongxing, he tries to pin his own bastard kid on Gu Dongxing.

If that worked, the Gu Group would eventually end up in his hands.

Gu Ouyang’s face was flushed scarlet, but he couldn’t get a single word out.

Seeing that Gu Ouyang didn’t answer, Chairman Ma asked again: "Gu Ouyang, answer my question!"

Sweat beaded on Gu Ouyang’s forehead: "Reporting to the leaders, this child isn’t mine. As for why he looks like me, I don’t know either!"

With this kid who looks like him, and the fact that he’d just used the child’s resemblance to Gu Dongxing to pin a label on him, he really couldn’t talk his way out of it now.

Chairman Ma snorted: "You don’t know? I think you know perfectly well. And you still want to be CEO and run the company? In my opinion, you’re not even fit to be a department manager. You’re suspended for reflection; your position will be temporarily handed over to someone else."

Then he turned to Gu Dongxing: "Gu Dongxing, your appointment letter went out yesterday—you’re already the Vice President of the Folklore and Cultural Research Association. We didn’t tell you before because we wanted to save it for your big happy day today—looks like you’ve got double happiness at your door."

Although Gu Dongxing was already a Golden Core cultivator, he’d always been in the mortal world, so he didn’t have that typical cultivator mindset of treating fame and fortune as nothing. Besides, the job he actually did was with the Folklore and Cultural Research Association—this ’hanging a sheep’s head while selling dog meat’ top-level grassroots cultivator organization.

So when he heard he’d become Vice President, he was genuinely happy, and immediately snapped off a salute: "Thank you, Secretary! I’ll definitely work hard and won’t let the organization down!"

Gu Ouyang hadn’t expected that after all the trouble he’d just stirred up, not only was the other side unaffected, he’d even become Vice President of the Folklore and Cultural Research Association.

Don’t underestimate that civilian organization. He’s never been there himself, but he’s heard that everyone who gets in is someone with very high prestige.

If he’d known yesterday that Gu Dongxing had already been appointed Vice President, why would he have pulled this stunt today? Not only did he fail to drag Gu Dongxing down, he ended up burying himself.

Seeing the look on Gu Ouyang’s face, Nan Mengyu knew he’d actually fallen for Jiang Huaiyu’s setup.

Her Divine Sense picked up that Ye Rushui, seeing everyone’s attention off her, was trying to sneak away. How could she possibly let Ye Rushui off?

She said to Gu Dongxing, "Hubby, I remember that at the start just now, it was Ye Rushui who dragged this kid in, stopped our wedding, and claimed this child was born by you and her. She even said I was the third party who cut in between you and her, and that you should marry her.

Now it’s been proven this child isn’t yours at all. It was all her slander, aimed purely at sabotaging our marriage. We already went and got our marriage certificate a month ago.

Hubby, does what Ye Rushui did count as the crime of interfering with marriage and family?"
