Chapter 1627 Let Her Go

Seventh Brother saw the way Mengyu was saving, and wanted to learn from Mengyu.

However, the Lei Family’s funds were excessively drained, constantly robbing Peter to pay Paul, leading the family’s business ventures into a financial crisis five years later.

It wasn’t until this moment that he confessed to the family that years ago Mengyu had charged four hundred million less, and he used that money to follow Mengyu in stock trading in Country R, earning more than sixty billion US dollars.

Lei Qi earning more than sixty billion US dollars for the family was an unprecedented achievement for the Lei Family. Additionally, with Eldest Miss Nan as his backing, the previously precarious position of Young Master Lei was now solidified, eventually leading him to become the Family Head, but that’s a story for another time.

At this time, Mengyu gave eighty billion to Seventh Brother, allowing him to invest in stocks. Just like that, Mengyu once again acted as the hands-free Shopkeeper.

She suddenly remembered seeing Nan Mengyu in the hall and asked, "I think I just saw Nan Mengyu."

Lei Qi frowned, "Nan Mingzhu? There’s no such person."

Mengyu realized that if she was working as a hostess in the nightclub, she must have changed her name.

"The person you were yelling at in the hall earlier, she was Nan Mingzhu."

"Oh her, her surname is Ming, given name Zhu." Lei Qi’s face suddenly changed, "She wouldn’t be from your Nan Family, would she?"

Mengyu nodded, "That’s right, her surname isn’t Ming, it’s Nan, and she is called Nan Mingzhu!"

"Nan Mingzhu? The Nan Mingzhu who took your identity?" Lei Qi said this, immediately feeling awkward.

The incident of the Eldest Lady being impersonated from childhood and growing up in the Southern countryside was not a secret, but not everyone knew about it.

By saying this, it was as if he admitted to Nan Mengyu that he had investigated her.

Nan Mengyu, however, didn’t mind, considering the billions worth of business they did together, how could there not be some investigation?

She nodded, "Yes, the same Nan Mingzhu. Although she did assume my identity, she is indeed of Nan Family blood. So, let her go."

Mengyu didn’t intend to help her, but having someone of Nan Family blood as a hostess would tarnish the Nan Family’s reputation.

Lei Qi chuckled bitterly, "Eldest Lady, you did say not to force women, and I have always adhered to that. This Mingzhu was indeed sold in by someone, but from the start, I made it clear to her that I was only lending her money to settle things with the human traffickers. Since, after all, we can’t catch human traffickers, and certainly can’t just buy someone’s freedom without reason.

They borrow money from me, and work here to pay it back. But my place is clean, a legal place, absolutely prohibiting the harboring of women to sell themselves. Of course, we can’t manage if hostesses leave with customers.

So, I really didn’t force this Mingzhu; rather, we even punish her concerning what she chooses to do in the private rooms."

Having previously heard Lei Qi scold Nan Mingzhu, Mengyu naturally understood she had misjudged him earlier.

She pondered a bit before asking, "How much does she owe you?"

Lei Qi: "I paid the trafficker twenty thousand for her freedom. Then, expenses for training and accommodation aren’t counted."

Mengyu thought for a moment and said, "I’ll pay off her debt for you, and you let her go."

The grudges between them had ended after punishing Nan Ming, confiscating all of Nan Mingzhu’s wealth, and seeing her being sold to Dream Sky in such a dire situation.

Unless she crosses Mengyu again in the future, she doesn’t plan to deal with Nan Mengyu anymore.

But Lei Qi said, "Eldest Lady, there’s no need for you to pay her debt. What’s ten thousand yuan anyway? I’ll waive it for her, let her leave. It’s just that she might not want to leave herself."

Nan Mingzhu’s behavior was undeniably disappointing to Lei Qi.
