Seizing the opportunity, Godfrey Thatcher raised his voice. "We refused your help right from the start. You were the ones who insisted on coming over to kill the zombies. We even returned the Crystal Cores to you afterwards, but you used your numbers to forcefully abduct people. Is this how Falken Base operates? If you ask me, your base is nothing but a bandit’s lair. It’ll fall apart sooner or later!"

The more he spoke, the angrier he got, eventually pointing right at their noses and cursing them out.

Perhaps because Godfrey’s cursing was too harsh, Kael Dolan, who hadn’t shown his face until now, actually came out.

"Captain Pearson, aren’t you going a bit overboard?" Kael asked, his expression unfriendly. "Can City D Base really not tolerate a small base like ours?"

Chester Pearson also noticed the person following behind Kael was actually Michael Miller, who had been kicked out of the base a few days prior. The other person was Marcus Palmer. To think both of them had come to Falken Base.

"Don’t try to pin this on us," Chester said. "Release the prisoners, and we’ll mind our own business."

However, to their surprise, the other party actually agreed. Soon, Harlan and the others were brought out. They didn’t seem to be injured, but they looked incredibly weak, lacking even the strength to speak.

"Wait, what about Holly Morgan and Reginald Sutton? We’re missing two people!" Godfrey said.

Hearing this, Chester immediately demanded, "What is the meaning of this, Kael? Where are the other two?"

"They... they took Holly and Reginald away. We don’t know where they’re being kept." Since Irwing was a Healer, she was still able to speak a little.

Kael shook his head. "It’s like this: that woman named Holly killed someone. How about we notify your base once we interrogate her into confessing? As for Mr. Sutton, he has volunteered to stay at our base, but it’s not convenient for him to show up right now."

Godfrey grew anxious upon hearing this. Reginald and Cordelia had only just gotten together; how could he possibly abandon Tomorrow Base to stay here?

"You’re spouting nonsense!" Godfrey shouted. "You only forcefully detained them because you saw they were Intermediate Superpower Users!"

This guy’s intentions were way too obvious!

Seeing this, Chase Gallagher stepped forward as well. "Commander Donovan, we are from City D’s Stellarys Team. Both people you’ve detained without cause are friends of our captain. If there is some misunderstanding, we can explain it later, but we are absolutely taking them away today. Or... are you not afraid that this will spark a conflict between our bases, Commander Donovan?"

Chase’s tone was calm, yet laced with a hint of warning. If Kael didn’t release them, Nina Jacobs would definitely not let this slide.

Kael raised an eyebrow. "I stand by what I said. Out of respect for Commander Lawson, we let the others go. It is impossible for us to release the remaining two."

"Just drive them away, Kael," Irene Palmer said.

More and more people were gathering to watch.

Kael smiled reassuringly. "Why be so unreasonable? Am I right, Captain Pearson?"

He was certain that City D Base would be helpless in this matter. If they sparked a base conflict over just two people, City D Base’s reputation would be ruined.

Chester also hadn’t expected Kael to be so shameless.

Just as he was pondering how to respond, a commotion broke out outside the city gates behind them. It sounded like a megaphone, followed by a voice shouting, "Donovan! Get your ass out here and see Mr. Hale! Release our people, or you’re dead meat!"

Holding a megaphone that Nina had found from who-knows-where, Leo Hale stood outside the gates of Falken Base, hollering at the top of his lungs. Nina had only told him to freely improvise without worrying about phrasing, so he just yelled whatever came to mind.

"That voice... is that Leo?!" Chester recognized it, a hint of pleasant surprise in his eyes. Could it be that Nina had returned?

"Commander, someone is outside... making a huge racket outside!" At that moment, several people ran in frantically, and the leader reported.

The person yelling with the megaphone didn’t try to force his way into the base, so they couldn’t stop him even if they wanted to. However, he started cursing by name even more harshly.

"Kael Dolan, if you want Intermediate Superpower Users so badly, then become one yourself! Oh, wait, I almost forgot you don’t even have a Superpower. Not that I’m discriminating against you or anything, but hurry up and release our people!"

Leo’s words echoed clearly into the base, word by word, and Kael’s expression instantly turned incredibly ugly. He absolutely hated it when others used his lack of a Superpower against him!

Seeing Kael grab a gun and prepare to rush out, Chester stepped in front of him. "We’re not done talking yet, Commander Donovan," Chester said.

"Move! Or does Captain Pearson want to stay in my base forever, too?" Kael made a hand gesture, and sure enough, the group of base soldiers behind him aimed their guns at Chester and his group.

Chester smiled at the sight. It seemed Kael was truly enraged. Behind him, Holt Tate, Chase, and the others also assumed defensive stances.

Right then, an unexpected voice descended from the sky above the city gates.

"Are you still not going to release them, Commander Donovan?"

Chase and the others looked up to see Nina standing in midair, looking down at them from her lofty vantage point. She had directly bypassed the base’s outer walls and was walking down from the sky, step by step.

Her posture was light and steady. With every step she took, a stone step would materialize beneath her feet. One step, one stair. The stone steps she left behind turned into specks of quicksand and vanished into thin air.

"Wind... is this a Wind Element Superpower?!" Chester and the others’ eyes widened in shock.

Walking on air was something only a Wind Element Superpower User could achieve! Wasn’t Nina a Dual Element Superpower User? When did she awaken the Wind Element? Did that mean she was now a Three-Element Superpower User?!

Chase and the rest also watched with pleasant surprise as their captain, Nina, walked toward them. He had anticipated that she wouldn’t let this slide, but he hadn’t expected her to arrive so quickly, nor make such an entrance.

"N-Nina! That’s Nina Jacobs!" Michael yelled, pointing at her.

"What are you trying to do? How dare you trespass into this base?! Everyone, listen to my orders—" Kael had also snapped out of his daze, but his words were coldly cut off.

"Kael Dolan, in the name of a Tier Three Base, I order you to release our people completely unharmed. Otherwise, City D Base wouldn’t mind absorbing your Level One Base ahead of schedule," Nina declared, enunciating every word.

"Don’t even think about it," Kael spat. He had never seen someone so arrogant. The last time he saw Nina was at the City D Base Superpower User Tournament. He hadn’t expected her to be so bold as to infiltrate his base alone now. Falken Base’s walls were practically non-existent to her!

"The people you took away hold classified secrets of Drakonia. If they didn’t have urgent matters to report to Command Headquarters, they wouldn’t have traveled thousands of miles to get here. Kael Dolan, can you shoulder this responsibility?"

With a wave of Nina’s hand, the base walls behind her began to tremble and RUMBLE. Tiles and stone bricks were stripped from the wall one after another. The seemingly sturdy walls were now showing faint signs of twisting and deforming.

"Stop it!" Irene cried out.

"Or is Commander Donovan going to openly make an enemy of the Drakonian Command Headquarters over those two? Why don’t I temporarily take over this base today? Any survivor of Falken Base can be incorporated into City D Base at any time." Nina’s tone was sharp and unyielding, giving no ground.
