After I Died, the Scumbag Went Mad
Chapter 236 - 235: Should Have Let Erin Whittaker Die Down There
Chapter 236: Chapter 235: Should Have Let Erin Whittaker Die Down There
Zeke Shaw bit into the apple with almost no hesitation.
After a moment, Zeke Shaw felt no reaction. Clearly, he had chosen correctly too.
"Pfft." The strange, distorted voice sounded like it was trying to hold back a laugh.
All of us looked suspiciously at this floor’s security camera. ’The person behind this is a little weird,’ I thought.
"So, Mr. Lucas Grant, do you have a wish?" the voice mentioned Lucas Grant again.
Lucas Grant pointed at himself. "Huh? Me? A wish? Then bring Felix Foster back in one piece."
The voice sounded like it was stifling a laugh. "Then may I ask, does Mr. Lucas Grant dare to eat the remaining food on the table for Felix Foster’s sake? From what I know, the probability of the remaining food being poisoned is getting higher and higher, you know."
Lucas Grant furrowed his brow, looking back at Asher and me to mutter, "Is the person behind this a psycho? Are they mocking me?"
Asher nodded seriously. "Yes. They’re looking down on you. If it were me, I wouldn’t stand for it."
He was so serious even when he was goading someone.
I couldn’t help but let out a laugh.
But Asher looked at me with curiosity, not taking his eyes off me for a long moment.
Lucas Grant was successfully provoked. He angrily picked up a bottle of milk from the table. "If I die, I die! Death comes for us all... but I really don’t want to die."
And so, Lucas Grant stuck a straw in and took a sip.
Huh. He didn’t die.
Asher looked at him as if he were an idiot, shook his head, and whispered to me, "See that, sweetheart? We’re both from the genius class, but there’s a pretty big gap between him and me."
I nodded seriously as well.
Just as the person behind the scenes was about to speak again, Tim Zane, who had "died" on the floor, slowly came to and weakly croaked, "Water..."
"?" Claire Lawson hid behind Zeke Shaw in fear. "He... he’s not dead!"
"HAHAHAHA..." The voice from behind finally couldn’t hold it in and burst out laughing. Because it was a voice changer, the laugh was extremely bizarre. "He just got greedy and almost choked himself to death. None of this food is poisoned."
Zeke Shaw’s brow furrowed. Only then did he realize something was wrong.
He looked warily at the camera.
CREAK. Suddenly, the ceiling above opened, and Madeline Quinn’s head poked through. "HAHAHAHA... You guys are killing me!"
Zeke Shaw looked at Madeline Quinn in shock. "Madeline Quinn..."
Felix Foster’s head also popped out. He looked mockingly at Lucas Grant. "Still as dumb as ever."
Lucas Grant nearly choked on his milk. "What the—? What’s going on with you?"
"That trap... after we fell, we were dragged away. I passed out, but Felix here is young and held his breath, so he wasn’t knocked out. He took care of the people down there, and when I woke up, I found out this floor is the control room, HAHAHAHA..." Madeline Quinn was still laughing.
Zeke Shaw’s face darkened. "Get down from there, now. It’s not safe."
Madeline Quinn sat on the edge, swinging her legs. "Mr. Zeke Shaw, are you worried about me? HAHAHAHA..."
Zeke Shaw grunted and said nothing.
"Don’t you want to come up and see? There’s a passage up here that leads directly to the first floor, you know," Madeline Quinn asked, holding back her laughter.
"How do we get up there?" Claire Lawson asked nervously. "It’s so high."
"I found a rope. We’ll pull you up," Felix Foster said, throwing the rope down.
Because Tim Zane had run away earlier, he felt guilty and hid in the back, not daring to make a sound.
"Hold on, let’s eat something first." Asher picked up a piece of bread from the table and took a bite. "We need to replenish our energy."
The others, relieved, also walked over and began to eat.
"Zeke, I want an apple. Toss one up to me," Madeline Quinn said with a smile, ordering Zeke Shaw around.
Zeke Shaw grunted, picking up an apple to toss to her.
"Not that one. It doesn’t look sweet," Madeline Quinn said haughtily.
"You can tell just by looking?" Zeke Shaw was puzzled.
"I want the one in your hand. You’ve already taken a bite, so you must know if it’s sweet or not," Madeline Quinn said with a grin.
Zeke Shaw froze for a second, the tips of his ears turning red. He was actually getting flustered by Madeline Quinn...
"Asher, toss me an apple." Felix Foster couldn’t stand to watch anymore and asked Asher to throw him something to eat.
But Asher had no time for him.
Asher was seriously taking a bite of every single food item to make sure it was okay before giving it to me.
"Lovesick fool..." Felix Foster rolled his eyes and threw something at Lucas Grant, who was below drinking milk and eating bread. "You, get me something to eat."
Lucas Grant glanced at Felix Foster and tossed a piece of bread up to him.
Felix Foster raised an eyebrow. "Seeing as you were about to be my hero just now, I’ll pull you up first."
Lucas Grant gave Felix Foster a look of disdain. ’Are all high schoolers like this now?’ "Hurry up and get out of here. Don’t let this mess up your college entrance exams."
At the mention of the college entrance exams, Felix Foster’s face darkened. "Hmph..."
Once they had eaten their fill, Felix Foster lowered the rope for Lucas Grant to climb up.
At least he had professional fitness training; he could climb a rope.
Zeke Shaw also climbed up nimbly.
After they were up, we had them pull Claire Lawson up first.
"Cece, you go," Asher told me to go first.
I didn’t refuse. I wrapped the rope around my wrist and climbed up.
"Pretty agile, huh," Lucas Grant teased.
I looked back at Asher.
He and Julian Fletcher were at it again, looking like they were about to start a fight.
"Are you two coming up or not?" I asked. "The twelfth-floor control panel is on the thirteenth floor. We’ve only temporarily escaped the control of the person behind this. If we’re discovered, we won’t be able to get out."
Asher understood and tossed the rope to Julian Fletcher.
Julian Fletcher hadn’t expected Asher to let him go first. His arm was injured, so he could only use one arm to pull himself up as the others helped.
When Julian Fletcher came up, I really only helped him out of a sense of camaraderie.
Everyone was pulling him up, it wasn’t just me...
But Julian Fletcher just had to look provocatively at Asher, grabbing my hand and refusing to let go.
’These two are so childish,’ I thought, shaking his hand off and looking at the resentful expression on Asher’s face. "Come on up."
Asher grabbed the rope with one hand and climbed up with a flourish. But just as his hand reached the edge of the ceiling, he intentionally let only half his head show, looked at me, and said pitifully, "Cece, my wound hurts..."
He just had to remind me that his arm was injured too.
I smiled and reached out my hand to him.
He obediently gave me his hand, letting me pull him up.
Lucas Grant and Felix Foster reached out to help, but he ignored them.
He clearly got up here using his own arm strength, but he still had to pretend to be weak and practically drape himself over me, then shoot a provocative look at Julian Fletcher.
I knew all his childish little tricks, but I didn’t call him out on them.
Down below, Erin Whittaker started to panic. "Julian..." she called out nervously.
She was afraid no one would save her.
Because, sure enough... Madeline Quinn had pulled the rope up.
Madeline Quinn rolled her eyes. "She deserves to die the most. Let’s just leave her to fend for herself."
"Julian..." Erin Whittaker’s face was pale as she looked nervously at Julian Fletcher.
Right now, the only person who could decide her fate was Julian Fletcher.
Behind Erin Whittaker, Tim Zane also stood to the side, his head perpetually lowered in despair.
He had bought his chance to escape on the fourteenth floor with everyone else’s lives. These people... they definitely wouldn’t save him.
"Let’s pull him up," Zeke Shaw said, pointing at Tim Zane.
It wasn’t that he had a bleeding heart; he just couldn’t stand by and do nothing.
In his eyes, every life had to be treated as equal.
