After Gender Transformation, I Was Adjusted by the System into the Demon Queen’s Strongest Maid
Chapter 152 : Funeral One-Stop Service
“The foundation over at the basin has basically been leveled.”
Hera set down the teacup of black tea in her hand.
“Not bad efficiency. I think construction can start this week.”
Hearing this, Lilia’s hands froze mid-motion.
She swallowed and carefully raised her head, cautiously observing Hera’s expression.
There wasn’t the slightest hint of a joke on Her Majesty’s face.
She was serious.
She truly intended to build a new landmark on that ruin that had been blasted into vitrified debris by a Forbidden Spell.
“Um… Master.”
Lilia carefully chose her words, afraid that one wrong sentence would get her dragged off for another “inspection.”
“When you say start construction, do you really mean building… an Arena there?”
“Otherwise?”
Hera raised an eyebrow and asked matter-of-factly, “Did you think I was just spouting nonsense?”
Lilia gave an awkward laugh.
This wasn’t about whether it was nonsense or not.
“Since you made that crater, you have priority to speak.”
Hera suddenly asked Lilia,
“Tell me, what style do you think that Arena should be built in?”
“Should it be that kind of retro circular stepped style, or a fully enclosed one like what’s popular on the human side?”
Lilia was dumbfounded.
Talking to her about architectural design?
And even asking for style?
“Um…”
Sweat began forming on Lilia’s forehead.
“I think… as long as it’s what Master likes, then it’s the best.”
“Since it’s meant to showcase the authority of the Palace of Eternal Night, then it must be big! Grand! The kind that makes people’s knees go weak at a single glance!”
Lilia brought out the universal workplace nonsense speech.
Perfect attitude, empty content.
Hera looked at her shameless sycophantic act of pretending to be loyal despite clearly knowing nothing, and the corner of her lips curved into an amused smile.
“Big? Grand?”
Her Majesty let out a light snort, clearly dissatisfied with this perfunctory answer.
“Looks like your imagination is limited to the word ‘big.’”
Lilia immediately lowered her head and admitted fault. “Master is right. I lack insight and have embarrassed you.”
As long as she surrendered fast enough, punishment couldn’t catch up.
Hera ignored her smooth submission and directly stood up.
The black silk skirt traced an elegant arc through the air as she moved.
She walked in front of Lilia, and that pleasant cedar-like cool fragrance instantly enveloped her.
“Talking on paper is indeed boring.”
Hera extended her hand, her cool fingertips gently lifting a strand of Lilia’s silver hair by her ear, casually twirling it.
“Perfect timing. I also want to check the results.”
“Since you have no ideas, go find some inspiration on-site.”
Lilia: “Huh?”
On-site?
Now?
Can she not go?
What if that lunatic Camilla was still there mourning? If they ran into her, would that be a social death scene or a battlefield?
“What, don’t want to go?”
Hera’s fingers slid down along the strand of hair to the back of Lilia’s neck and lightly pinched it.
Lilia instantly straightened her back.
“I’ll go! Definitely going!”
Lilia declared decisively, “Being able to accompany Master on an inspection is my honor!”
Hera withdrew her hand in satisfaction.
The next second—
Lilia felt the surrounding space distort.
A familiar sense of weightlessness struck.
When she opened her eyes again, the howling wind had already filled her ears.
Beneath her feet was a vast, boundless sky.
Lilia instinctively let out a short cry, clutching tightly onto the only “lifeline” beside her with both hands.
Hera floated in midair, letting this frightened little quail cling to her.
She even had the leisure to adjust her posture slightly, allowing Lilia to see more clearly.
“Open your eyes.”
Hera’s voice remained frighteningly clear even in the wind.
Lilia tremblingly opened one eye.
The sight below instantly made her forget the fear of the height.
The originally steep and deep Dark Moon Canyon had been completely erased from the map.
In its place was a massive circular basin so enormous it made one suffocate.
From a bird’s-eye view, it looked like a monstrous eye that had suddenly opened on the earth.
The crater walls had an eerie smoothness, a vitrified texture formed when rock melted instantly under extreme heat and then solidified.
Under the sunlight, the entire pit reflected a blinding glare—desolate, lifeless, yet carrying a destructive beauty.
And at the bottom and edges of that deep pit—
Black dots were writhing.
They were numerous Succubi in purple uniforms and high-tier earth-element Mages.
There were even several massive earth dragon beasts dragging carts loaded with huge stones, struggling along the rugged edges.
“That is…”
Lilia’s eyes widened.
Even from such a distance, with the enhancement of Absolute Senses, she could still clearly see the expressions on those people’s faces.
A mixture of fear, exhaustion, and despair.
Especially the figure standing in the center directing everything.
Dressed in a black long skirt, hair slightly disheveled, holding a long whip that wasn’t used to strike anyone but hung weakly at her side.
Camilla.
This person now looked like a contractor who had just gone bankrupt.
She was pointing at a section of earth that had just been half-filled and collapsed again, roaring in fury.
Although no sound could be heard, judging by her mouth movements, the amount of profanity was extremely high.
And not far behind her—
On a newly cleared flat ground, white flowers were spread everywhere.
White Roses.
Like an ocean, glaringly conspicuous against the charred black land.
At the center of the sea of flowers stood a massive stone monument that hadn’t yet been fully engraved.
Looking at that monument, Lilia felt a chill run down her back.
Was that… built for her?
“Looks like Camilla has really put in effort.”
Hera’s cool voice sounded above her, carrying an obvious hint of amusement.
“Not only providing manpower and funds to help fill your crater, she even arranged a full funeral one-stop service for you.”
Lilia’s mouth twitched.
Do you want this kind of blessing for yourself?!
Who in their right mind sets up a tombstone for themselves?!
And judging from Camilla’s state—crying while directing the filling work—this wasn’t construction, this was practically some kind of large-scale ritual!
“Master…”
Lilia spoke weakly, “Should we… go down and tell her?”
“Tell her what?”
Hera lowered her head with a half-smile, glancing at her. “Tell her to remove the flowers?”
“What a waste.”
“Since they’re already planted, let them be the landscaping for the new Arena.”
Lilia: “…”
Was this even a landscaping issue?!
Those were graveyard weeds!
And looking at the exhausted earth-element Mages below who seemed on the verge of coughing blood, Lilia actually felt a strange sense of guilt.
At the time, she had only cared about using that skill book, never thinking about the consequences.
Now it seemed that with that one move, not only had she blown away the Headless Giant, but she had permanently altered the terrain here.
“Did you see clearly?”
Hera suddenly restrained her smile, her voice turning slightly low.
“This is your power.”
“The power to reshape this land with a mere wave of your hand.”
Hera’s hand gently rested on Lilia’s shoulder, her fingertips carrying a reassuring warmth.
“Lilia, remember this feeling.”
“As for those flowers…”
