After Beating the Game, I Became the Villain BOSS
Chapter 667 - 414: The Black Tide
Rogel, 23 this year, is a top master’s graduate from the Capital Military Academy. Since childhood, he has been exceedingly gifted with outstanding achievements, once a model student and class leader, surrounded by friends and admirers, he was a good student in everyone’s eyes characterized by both academic excellence and good conduct.
Rogel also has a happy and harmonious family. His father is an officer in the Capital Group Army, strict yet loving, enjoying fishing and cooking, often cooking while listening to the melodious music from old records.
During vacations, whenever there was a chance, his father would take him on mountain bike cross-country rides in the suburbs, the father and son chasing each other on mountain trails, leaving laughter and sweat everywhere.
His mother is a typical housewife, without a job but not becoming lazy because of it, always so gentle and kind.
She is always the earliest to wake, diligently tending to the garden and household chores. Every day when he wakes up and steps out of his bedroom, there is always a prepared breakfast and his mother’s gentle smile greeting him.
In this oppressive world, Rogel had a happy and joyful childhood.
After graduating from military academy, due to his good background and high academic qualifications, he met the direct recruitment standards, and upon enlisting, after rookie training, he was directly commissioned as a captain and assigned to the 112th company of the "2nd Armored Infantry Division of the Marine Corps" of the Capital Group Army, serving as a platoon leader.
And today, when the rebels launched an attack on the Capital City, his company was assigned defensive duties on "Sheldon Avenue".
"Rat-a-tat-tat-tat-tat——"
The firepower of the heavy machine guns sounded like roaring fury, the steel whips formed by bullets sweeping across the other side of the street, continuously knocking down the advancing constructs.
Rogel wiped away the mud caked over his eyes forcefully and after observing for a moment, picked up the loudspeaker and shouted to his companions in the rear: "Ready the firing parameters! Azimuth 26-00, elevation 06-70! Mortars, fire!"
"Boom!" A mortar shell sliced through the air with a roaring tremble like a meteor, exploding in the center of the enemy cluster, instantly annihilating seven or eight constructs.
But this was merely a tiny ripple in the black tide.
After the rebels breached the wall area, the battle lines had pushed to Sheldon Avenue, with gunfire and explosions growing fiercer and more ferocious, wave after wave, everywhere thick with the smell of gunpowder.
The communication lines initially set up were destroyed at some unknown time, causing a complete communications failure, with the soldiers of the 112th company able only to rely on shouting for communication, and the commanders yelling into loudspeakers like vendors at a market, their voices hoarse but drowned out by the gunfire, traveling hardly any distance.
"Ratatatatatata——"
The machine gunner next to Rogel clenched his teeth, his fingers hardly leaving the trigger as bullets poured like torrential rain from the heavy machine gun he operated.
The dense barrage sliced through the air, the sound of metal bullets hitting the active metal of the constructs’ bodies ongoing, sparks flying, almost setting the battlefield ablaze.
Suddenly, without warning, the machine gun fire ceased.
"What are you doing? Shoot!" Rogel roared.
Facing the enemy’s mass charge, the machine gun must absolutely never cease firing, with the loader and shooter needing tight coordination to ensure constant suppression of the enemy.
Even a second’s pause could allow the enemy the chance to advance several meters, further compressing the defensive space.
Rogel was about to angrily reprimand the machine gunner, but upon seeing the situation clearly, he found himself speechless.
The machine gunner was already dead; a bullet fired from afar had penetrated the gap in the bulletproof shield and directly exposed his skull, blood spattering everywhere behind.
The battlefield was too noisy to have heard the sound of him being hit earlier.
Without heavy machine gun suppression, the constructs were advancing faster.
Without hesitation, Rogel took on the machine gunner’s role himself, roaring as he continued firing.
"Come on! You damned bastards!!!"
Under the suppressive fire of Rogel’s heavy weaponry, constructs were incessantly hit by bullets, body fragments scattering and flying, but they did not stop advancing, as those in the front fell, the ones from behind quickly filling in, like endless waves incessantly surging forward.
A human’s attention is limited, and while Rogel focused on firing, he failed to notice the dark shadow descending from a nearby high-rise.
A construct utilizing powerful climbing abilities bypassed the firing line by relying on the building, then directly jumped down.
"Boom!" It landed directly within the position, right behind Rogel.
The immense impact from falling from a height directly broke its legs, incapacitating it on the ground.
But this did not affect the bomb implanted within its body.
At this moment, time seemed to stretch infinitely, and as Rogel turned back dumbstruck, memories flashed before him like a revolving lantern. He saw his teacher’s praise upon getting into a good university, proud and delighted parents, and those scenes of a warm childhood filled with laughter.
"Boom!!!" The flames of the construct’s self-detonation blossomed within the defensive position, with Rogel and the surrounding soldiers all torn into the most primitive human fragments.
Deprived of heavy firepower suppression, the black tide rushed over the position in an exceedingly short time, completely consuming the remaining members of the 112th company.
...
...
...
"Damn it! The 112th company’s position has fallen! Sheldon Avenue is lost! Repeat! Sheldon Avenue is lost! These monsters are attacking our flank!"
"Aslan! Use your Titan 003 to block them! Hurry!"
The communication station of the Titan Manual Operating Room in the 003 unit of the 2nd Armored Infantry Division of the Marine Corps transmitted the hoarse cries of the commander.
