Chapter 203: Chapter 203: The Truth is Revealed! Another DNA Test
When Sienna Everett heard the question, her clear, cold gaze fell upon Lucas Everett in the audience below.
Though her gaze seemed light and weightless, to Lucas Everett, it felt like a sharp blade of ice shooting straight at him, and his back instantly went rigid.
Lucas Everett suppressed the chill that ran down his spine and forced himself to meet her eyes. "What? You’re not even willing to give an explanation to the racing fans who support you?"
Upon hearing this, Lawrence’s weathered brow furrowed in disapproval.
’This Lucas Everett... why is he always deliberately picking fights and going against Sierra?’
Ian Prescott shot a dangerous look at Lucas Everett.
’That heartless bastard. All of Sienna’s sacrifices for him were for nothing.’
However, Lucas Everett’s words had successfully piqued the curiosity of the guests and reporters in the banquet hall.
"Come to think of it, Zephyr’s retirement was very sudden. And no reason was ever given."
"It didn’t make any sense. Zephyr was at the peak of her career. Most racers would never retire at a time like that. If she had kept competing, she would have won so many more championships!"
"Exactly! Why did Zephyr suddenly announce her retirement?"
Amid the growing buzz of discussion, Shannon Everett watched Lucas Everett with a smile.
’Now I can finally relax,’ she thought. ’It seems his attitude toward Sienna Everett hasn’t changed one bit.’
’In the future, his love will still be all mine! He’ll still dote on me, Shannon Everett, and me alone!’
A reporter in the crowd couldn’t resist calling out to the stage, "Sienna Everett, why did you suddenly announce your retirement when you were at your peak? Can you tell us the reason?"
Lawrence glanced at Sienna Everett. Seeing her somber expression, he stepped in to answer the reporter’s question for her.
"At the time, Sierra made an agreement with someone that she would no longer participate in any official competitions, which is why she announced her retirement."
Someone immediately pressed further. "What kind of agreement? And with whom?"
Sienna Everett finally spoke, her expression detached. Her voice was as cool as a soft rain. "I’m sorry. It was a non-disclosure agreement, so I can’t discuss it."
A non-disclosure agreement?
Hearing this, the crowd in the banquet hall exchanged uncertain glances.
’Looks like there’s more to this story...’
’Something major must have happened to force her to retire.’
But Lucas Everett just sneered. "A non-disclosure agreement? Sienna Everett, is that just an excuse you came up with? Or is the real reason for your retirement too shameful to say out loud?"
At those words, Lawrence’s aged face instantly darkened.
’Even the strangers in this hall have the decency to be considerate and not jump to malicious conclusions.’
’But Lucas Everett, her own brother, is speculating about her like this.’
’Does he have no affection for his own sister at all?!’
At that moment, Ian Prescott looked at Lucas Everett as if he were already a dead man, his gaze filled with a deathly, bone-chilling cold.
He ordered the bodyguard behind him, "Bring in Nolan Chambers."
A few seconds later, Nolan Chambers was escorted into the banquet hall.
Lucas Everett’s brow furrowed. ’Dr. Chambers?’
’What is he doing here?’
Seeing Nolan Chambers, Sienna Everett was surprised for a moment, then shot a knowing glance at Ian Prescott. ’Did he bring him here?’
’Her deal with Nolan Chambers was covered by an NDA, so she could never be the one to reveal it.’
Lucas Everett walked up to Nolan Chambers, his face etched with confusion. "Dr. Chambers, what are you doing here?"
Nolan Chambers glanced toward Ian Prescott, so terrified his legs were trembling. Only then did he turn to Lucas Everett, his voice shaking. "You wanted to know why I agreed to perform your surgery, didn’t you?"
Lucas Everett froze for a second, then nodded. "Yes."
Withstanding Ian Prescott’s oppressive gaze, Nolan Chambers began to speak, his voice laced with fear.
"When you injured your right leg and could no longer race, you couldn’t accept it. The Everetts tried everything to find me, hoping I would agree to operate on you."
"But I initially refused. To be frank, you weren’t anyone important, and the Everett Family wasn’t particularly remarkable. I simply didn’t have the time or energy to perform your surgery."
Hearing this, Lucas Everett looked embarrassed, but he couldn’t argue.
Nolan Chambers took a few deep breaths and continued.
"After I refused, I heard you had become despondent and lost your will to live. But then, the God of Racing, Zephyr—that is, Sienna Everett—came to me personally and begged me to perform your surgery."
Lucas Everett’s pupils shrank. ’Sienna Everett found Nolan Chambers?’
’She begged him to operate on me?’
’Impossible. Why would Nolan Chambers listen to her?’
Nolan Chambers wiped the cold sweat from his forehead and continued, his voice still trembling.
"I wasn’t willing at first. But then, to my surprise, Sienna Everett—a revered God of Racing—humbled herself to run errands and do all sorts of favors for me, all just to convince me to agree to the surgery."
"I have a nephew who is also a racer, but he’s not nearly as skilled as Zephyr and has never taken first place. So, to help my nephew get a win, I made a deal with Sienna Everett: if she announced her retirement, I would agree to perform your surgery."
"I never thought she would accept, but she agreed after only a few seconds of thought. She retired at the height of her career, giving up everything, just so I would fix your leg and allow you to return to the track..."
Lucas Everett didn’t hear a word of what Nolan Chambers said after that.
Only one phrase echoed in his mind—
Sienna Everett retired at the height of her career, gave up the sport she loved, all just to heal his leg so he could return to the track...
’No.’
’This can’t be real!’
Not even daring to look at Sienna Everett on the stage, Lucas Everett lunged forward and grabbed Nolan Chambers by the collar, roaring, "You’re lying! You think I’ll believe you just like that? Why would Sienna Everett do something so stupid for me!"
Choking, his face turning beet red as Lucas tightened his grip, Nolan Chambers gasped, "I brought the agreement! It’s in my briefcase! You can see for yourself!"
Lucas Everett immediately threw Nolan Chambers aside, snatched the briefcase, and with trembling fingers, pulled out the contract.
He flipped through the pages frantically.
’It’s exactly what Dr. Chambers said.’
And at the end... Sienna Everett’s signature.
’How could this be?!’
’My leg... it was healed because of Sienna?’
’In my darkest, most desperate moment, when all hope was lost... the one who saved me from my injury, who gave me a chance to return to the track... was Sienna?!’
’For me, she was willing to give up her entire racing career...’
After hearing Nolan Chambers’ story, everyone else in the banquet hall was completely stunned.
"Holy shit, so that’s the truth!"
"My God, how could Sienna Everett do it? She was at the top of her game! To just up and retire for Lucas Everett... why would she be so good to him?!"
"Sigh, why didn’t Sienna Everett think of herself for once? Sure, Lucas Everett loves racing, and it’s painful to not be on the track, but what about her? She loves racing too! Was it worth it to sacrifice herself for someone else like that?"
"Especially for an ungrateful bastard like Lucas Everett. It wasn’t worth it at all!"
"I guess back then, Sienna Everett still saw Lucas Everett as her real brother, as family, and just wanted to help him."
"Trading her career for his... sigh!"
Listening to the murmurs around him, Lucas Everett gripped the contract in his hand, his knuckles turning white. His heart felt as if it had been pierced by a thousand arrows, the pain so intense he could hardly breathe.
’Why...?’
Like a marionette, Lucas Everett stiffly turned his head, his gaze—a mixture of fear and hope—finding Sienna Everett in the distance.
Just then, Sienna Everett came down from the stage and walked over to Ian Prescott. "Why did you bring Nolan Chambers here?" she asked in a low voice.
Ian Prescott looked down at her, his eyes overflowing with tenderness. "I couldn’t stand by and do nothing while Lucas Everett targeted you."
A warmth spread through Sienna Everett’s chest, and she gave him a gentle smile. "Thank you."
"Sienna..." Ian Prescott said her name softly.
"What is it?" she asked.
Ian Prescott looked directly into her clear, radiant eyes, a hint of a plea in his voice. "Sienna, could I ask you to... take another DNA test with the Prescott Family?"
