Chapter 199: Chapter 199: The God of Racing is Making a Public Appearance

Nolan Chambers’s face fell the moment he heard Lucas Everett’s question.

His memory of Lucas Everett was profound, to say the least. After all, Lucas had come to him for surgery on his injured leg, and he had initially refused.

Later, the God of Racing, Zephyr—who was none other than Sienna Everett—had personally sought him out and asked him to perform the surgery on Lucas Everett.

He had a nephew who was also a race car driver, but the young man lost to Zephyr in every race. To help his nephew finally take first place, he made a deal with Zephyr—

He would perform the surgery on Lucas Everett, but only if Zephyr agreed to retire.

To his surprise, Zephyr actually agreed for Lucas Everett’s sake.

At the absolute peak of her career, at her most glorious moment, Zephyr announced her retirement. She unhesitatingly threw away her beloved racing career just to get Lucas Everett back on the track.

A deal like that, one that so flagrantly violated medical ethics, could never be made public, of course.

But Lucas Everett was the biggest beneficiary...

"You don’t know why I agreed to operate on you?" Nolan Chambers, a slightly heavyset man, retorted, a shrewd glint in his eyes.

Lucas Everett shook his head vigorously.

To be honest, he had never considered the question before. He had always assumed Nolan Chambers agreed to do the surgery out of respect for the Everett Family.

After the surgery, he was immensely grateful to his parents. He even saw Shannon as the Everett Family’s little lucky star. The only exception was his own sister, Sienna Everett.

The mere sight of Sienna Everett’s face depressed him. He was so disgusted that he would yell at her until she left his hospital room every day, refusing to even spare her a single glance.

Nolan Chambers was evasive. "At the time, the Everett Family approached me repeatedly about your leg. That’s why I eventually agreed to do the surgery."

"I have a seminar I can’t be late for. I have to go."

With that, Nolan Chambers quickly slipped away as if he were fleeing a disaster.

Of course, Nolan Chambers would never willingly publicize something so damaging to his reputation as his private deal with Zephyr.

However, Nolan Chambers hadn’t gotten far before he came face-to-face with a tall, slender man.

The man was leaning casually against a car, apparently waiting just for him.

Nolan Chambers recognized him at a glance. It was Master Prescott of the Prescott Family, one of the four great financial groups—Ian Prescott.

"Mr. Prescott, what brings you here...?" Nolan Chambers hurried forward to greet him.

Ian Prescott gave him a slow, deliberate look, not bothering to beat around the bush. "That private deal you made with Zephyr..."

Nolan Chambers’s face paled again. ’How could Ian Prescott know about this?’

But on second thought, it made sense. With the Prescott Family’s power and Ian Prescott’s methods, finding out would have been effortless if he’d wanted to.

Ian Prescott’s eyes bored into Nolan Chambers, his voice deep and cold. "Publicize the private deal you made with Sienna Everett."

"But..." Nolan Chambers was beside himself. "That deal was confidential. How can I just publicize it?"

"You can’t?" Ian Prescott asked, a wide smile spreading across his face.

But that smile made Nolan Chambers’s scalp tingle and his legs start to tremble. Anyone familiar with the Prescott Family knew that while Master Prescott might be smiling, his methods were ruthless. He was not someone to be crossed.

Nolan Chambers was so frightened he stammered, "I can... I can publicize it! I understand!"

...

「Veridian Gardens.」

"Mmm... a little lighter. That’s too hard."

Sienna Everett lay lazily on the bed while Julian Forrester sat beside her, his well-defined fingers tracing a path down her back as he massaged her.

Like a soft, sleepy kitten, Sienna Everett whimpered for him to be gentler.

"Like this?" Julian Forrester eased the pressure.

"Yes, that’s perfect! So comfortable!" Sienna Everett was so content she didn’t even want to open her eyes.

A moment later, her phone rang.

The caller ID showed a call from Lawrence.

Sienna Everett picked up the phone.

Before her retirement, she and Lawrence had formed a racing team together, with him acting as team manager.

"Sierra," Lawrence’s voice, despite his age, still carried the refined tone of an English gentleman. "Forgive me for calling so suddenly. I hope I’m not disturbing you?"

"Not at all. I’m not busy."

"Wonderful!" Lawrence chuckled. "Here’s the thing: Keston’s sixtieth-anniversary celebration is in a few days, and they’ve officially invited the God of Racing, Zephyr, to attend!"

Keston was one of the world’s top racing brands. Many professional drivers drove Keston cars.

With a single car valued at several million at minimum, it was arguably the number one brand in the racing world.

"Sierra, the president of Keston, Mr. Miller, called me personally. He wants to invite the God of Racing, Zephyr, to the celebration. He also wants to invite Zephyr to make a public appearance and become Keston’s brand ambassador!"

Sienna Everett wasn’t very interested. "I don’t want to go."

Lawrence said quickly, "With the status of the God of Racing, Zephyr, the endorsement fee is fifty million US dollars!"

Sienna Everett still couldn’t muster any enthusiasm. "I’m not short on money right now."

"Sierra, I know you don’t need the money." Lawrence paused for a couple of seconds, his tone turning somber. "A lot of people used to think the God of Racing, Zephyr, had passed away. And even though it was recently announced that Zephyr is still alive, you haven’t made any public appearances. So, now many people think Zephyr is dead again..."

Sienna Everett was speechless. "..."

’Will this never end!’

’Can’t they just wish me well for once!’

"Fine, fine, I’ll do it." Sienna Everett massaged her temples, a headache forming. "When is the celebration?"

"The third of next month, right here in Celestria!" Hearing her agree, Lawrence’s voice immediately brightened with a cheerful laugh. "I’ll attend with you. It’s settled, then. I won’t disturb you any longer. I’m hanging up!"

"Baby, move a little..."

Lawrence was about to hang up when a deep, magnetic male voice suddenly came from Sienna Everett’s end of the line. He was taken aback. "Sierra, what was that?"

Sienna Everett was startled herself. She twisted her head to glare at Julian Forrester for speaking up so suddenly, then tried to cover her tracks with Lawrence. "It’s nothing! You must have misheard! It’s just my pet!"

Julian Forrester: "?"

’A pet?’

Lawrence: "..."

He was old, not senile.

’What kind of pet can talk?’

’And tell its "baby" to move, no less?’

Lawrence cleared his throat twice, his laugh turning suggestive. "Sierra, I’m a man of the world. I understand. I’ll let you get back to it, then. Have fun."

Sienna Everett: "?"

’What is it you think you understand?!’

’What’s there to have fun about?!’

After hanging up, Sienna Everett puffed up her cheeks and glared at the culprit.

Julian Forrester casually raised an eyebrow. "So, I’m your pet?"

"..." ’How can he turn this around on me?’

’If he hadn’t suddenly spoken—and said something so suggestive—would she have panicked and said something so ridiculous?’

Before Sienna Everett could form a rebuttal, the man’s lazy drawl sounded in her ear, "Well then, Sienna, you’ll have to take good care of me."

Sienna Everett’s eyes flew wide open.

’H-He...’

’How can he be like this!’

Seeing her adorable expression—so surprised that her dark, glistening eyes were wide and round—Julian Forrester couldn’t resist reaching out to pinch her soft cheek. "Do you still want me to continue the massage?"

But his massages were just too good. With no spine to speak of, Sienna Everett nodded eagerly. "Yes!"

His Adam’s apple bobbed as he let out a low chuckle. "Such a good girl."

Sienna Everett: "..."

...

「On the day of Keston’s sixtieth-anniversary celebration.」

Before leaving, Sienna Everett glanced at the date. It was the third. For some reason, that date felt familiar.

She thought for a moment. ’Oh, right.’

In another ten days, her divorce agreement with Julian Forrester would expire.

Sienna Everett’s heart clenched, and her eyelashes trembled. Time was short. She turned and headed out the door.

For its sixtieth-anniversary celebration, Keston had invited numerous celebrities and several top-tier race car drivers to attend.

A rumor had leaked that the God of Racing, Zephyr, would also be attending the event, and racing fans everywhere were waiting with bated breath.

They would finally have a chance to see Zephyr in person—alive, not dead!

How could they not be excited?!
