Chapter 1994: Picking Up Brown II
Chapter 1994: Picking Up Brown II
The Gnome looked at the token in Grey’s hand before hurriedly bowing, calling the other Gnomes who were searching the building.
Grey did a rough count and realized the Gnomes were eight in number, two in the Seventh stage of the Sovereign Plane, the cultivation of the other five spread across the Sixth to Third stage. The last Gnome was the Peak Venerable who he met guarding the door.
When the Gnomes arrived, the two Seventh stage Sovereigns looked at Grey coldly, questioning, “What are you doing here, Human?”
“I already told him I’m here on official business for His Highness the Seventh Prince.” Grey kept the same attitude, flashing the token in front of the Gnomes.
As soon as the other Gnomes saw the token, especially the two in the Seventh stage, they exchanged glances before dropping their heads, one of them asked, “You said for His Highness the Seventh Prince, right?”
“I don’t like repeating myself.” Grey snorted coldly, but he did not move past them. For some reason, he was having an ominous feeling. This was the first time Gnomes were seeing this token and not reacting respectfully. Normally, the Gnomes would not question him again after seeing the token. Adding the feeling he was getting, he felt something was wrong.
The two Seventh stage Gnomes’ eyes turned cold after hearing Grey’s reply. Exchanging glances, they both walked in the direction of the door, seemingly wanting to leave the building. With the duo taking the lead, the other Gnomes followed them as well.
Grey could feel the tension in the atmosphere dropping as the Gnomes left the building.
‘Something is wrong. Leave immediately.’
Grey received a telepathic message from both the Bunny Leader and Void. He did not need anyone to tell him as he could feel his heart racing as a cold chill ran down his spine. Turning, he asked while looking around, “Who’s there?”
He could feel a sharp gaze, only, no matter how he tried, he could not pinpoint where the gaze was coming from. It was as if an invisible pair of eyes locked onto him the moment he spoke with the Gnomes. Also, seeing the reactions of the Gnomes, he believed something must be wrong.
Delaying no further, he rushed into the building, heading straight to the place where Brown was hidden. Even though the Gnomes entered the building, they did not find Brown. The reason for this was because he had already prepared for the case that anyone entered this place, so he hid Brown in an underground compartment made by the Seventh Prince. He also made sure to conceal Brown’s aura as well as the entrance to the underground compartment.
He soon found the underground compartment, on getting there, he told Void to hurriedly keep Brown in the spatial storage. Void and the Bunny Leader were the only ones who could keep living beings in the spatial storage. After doing this, he turned around, only to notice that the two Seventh stage Sovereign Gnomes had come into the building again looking for him.
“You, Human, stop right there!” One for the Gnomes shouted as he pointed at Grey.
Grey acted like he did not hear them, pushing his space element, he wrapped his body in it and tried to teleport away.
The Gnomes sensed the fluctuations of the space element, knowing the Human was trying to escape, they attacked without hesitation.
Grey’s eyes turned cold, if not for the feeling of uneasiness, these two would not even know how they died. Not bothering with them, he forcefully took the attack of the duo, grunting as he teleported away from the building.
“He’s gone?” One of the Gnomes asked while looking around.
“He’s a Space Elementalist, that explains how he was able to sneak this close without anyone noticing.” The other Gnome replied.
“What do we do now? We already informed the Commander about this Human posing with the Seventh Prince’s stolen token and he told us to keep him here until he comes.” A look of worry appeared on the face of one of the Gnomes.
“I marked him with my attack, no matter how far… Huh?” The Gnome who was in the middle of speaking froze, the reason for this was because the mark he was about to proudly declare was gone. He only sensed it for a split second before it vanished like it never existed.
“You marked him, that’s interesting.” The other Gnome commented, seeing the change in his companion’s expression, he asked curiously, “What happened?”
“It’s gone.” The Gnome replied with a bleak expression on his face. What he found shocking is not the fact that the mark disappeared in such a short time, rather, the place he sensed the mark was simply too far from their current location. From his estimate, it should be at least close to fifty kilometers. How could one travel fifty kilometers in a matter of mere seconds?
Elementalists were fast in flight, especially those Lightning and Wind Elementalists. The Light Elementalists in the Human World could be said to be the fastest and should not be underestimated for their speed, but traveling fifty kilometers in seconds was unheard of.
“What’s gone?” The other Gnome did not understand what he was talking about.
“The mark, both the mark and the Human are gone.” The Gnome replied with a wry smile.
The two Gnomes were still discussing this when a figure silently appeared in the building. The figure appeared like a shadow, dressed in black robes with its face covered. There was a crest on the back of the robe that showed a snake with its mouth open and its two fangs shown. From the stature of the figure, it was easy to deduce it was a Gnome.
The two Gnomes did not sense the presence of the newly arrived Gnome until the Gnome was standing in front of them.
At the sight of the Gnome, the duo almost jumped in fright. They did not sense when the Gnome arrived, meaning if this Gnome wanted to kill them, then they would be dead.
The Gnome who marked Grey was the first to recognize this Gnome, horrified, he bowed, “Lord Shadow.”
When the other Gnome heard the name Lord Shadow, he bowed hurriedly, not daring to look at the face of the figure before them. They have all heard rumors about this mysterious expert. The gender of the expert is unknown due to always being covered in large black robes, nonetheless, this expert is regarded as the number one assassin in the Gnome World, creating the organization Shadow Snakes.
“Tell me about this Human.” Lord Shadow asked.
Even Lord Shadow’s voice sounded neutral, making it impossible for anyone to identify if the voice belonged to a male or female.
The Gnome who marked Grey hurriedly told Lord Shadow of how Grey came in and chased them out of the building. They did not try to stop him then since they could not sense his cultivation and did not want to alert him that they had notified their Commander.
Lord Shadow was taken aback when they mentioned the space element, nodding Lord Shadow turned before gazing deep into the building.
‘What could that be?’ Lord Shadow felt a chill, it was as if a powerful being had its eyes on this place which frightened even Half Gods.
Not wasting any time, Lord Shadow disappeared, heading in the direction the Gnome mentioned Grey initially appeared after he teleported away from the building. According to the Gnome, Grey first appeared around a kilometer away from the building before disappearing and appearing around fifty kilometers away from this place. The mark disappeared after that. Lord Shadow knew the only way the Human could move in that manner is if he had help from a teleportation array. It was impossible for Space Elementalists in the Sovereign Plane to achieve distances of tens of kilometers in one instant teleportation, only a teleportation array could make such a thing possible.
It took Lord Shadow about ten minutes or so to locate the teleportation array Grey made beforehand close to the building.
….
On Grey’s end.
When he teleported away from the building, he directly appeared in the place where he created a teleportation array. On his way to the Capital, he made a few teleportation arrays in case anything like this happened. Although he did not hope to use it, he was always precautious. From the looks of it, his foresight saved him the trouble of having to engage the Gnomes in battle. Unfortunately, he could still feel he was being stared at by invisible eyes, which made his heart beat faster and faster. He could not understand how the feeling was still apparent even after teleporting tens of kilometers away from that area.
‘Who is that?’ He asked himself, worried.
If he was targeted by any of the Half God Plane experts from the Gnome Race, he would be in serious danger. He could barely deal with a Peak Sovereign alone, much less fight against a Half God Plane expert.
