Achieving Demon Godhood from Unlocking Talents
Chapter 448 97: High-Level Martial Skill, Slicing Force Saber Technique
One month wasn't a very long time. However, the Red Maple City Circle had undergone drastic changes.
The old City Lord had passed away, drawing countless prominent figures to offer their condolences.
In addition, the Superpower Bureau had formed a deep collaboration with the City Guard Army. They officially advanced into the wilderness, preparing to wage war against the hidden warlord factions and the Rebel wilderness bases.
"Speaking of which, it really feels somewhat surreal."
"We all thought Miss Su of the City Lord's Mansion was going to lose the election. Who would have thought she'd actually succeed in taking over the position of Honorary City Lord in the end."
In the wilderness, near a relatively flat expanse of wasteland, lush grasses and trees intertwined to form a patch of green field on the barren earth.
The thick foliage blocked out most of the scorching summer sun. Under the shade of the trees, a fleet of black vehicles was parked.
More than a dozen suited security guards stood near the center of the motorcade, holding guns. Wearing earpieces, they continuously deployed drones to scatter and scout, maintaining high alert against sudden attacks from Mutant Beasts, or perhaps deliberately keeping their distance from certain Wilderness Hunters.
In contrast, at another rest area nearly a hundred meters away from the motorcade, Wilderness Hunters in casual attire gathered in twos and threes. They carried either firearms or Fighting Weapons, their bulging backpacks stuffed with plenty of Exotic Beast Materials.
"Exactly. I heard that Miss Su—ah, no, we should call her Little City Lord Su now—was in a pretty bad spot before. Almost no one believed in her."
"Heh, that just shows how brilliant the old City Lord's tactics were. Who would have thought that Marshal Su had zero interest in taking over the City Lord position, and was perfectly happy just commanding the City Guard Army instead?"
The resting Wilderness Hunters chatted to pass the time. During their conversation, someone cast a sidelong glance at the heavily guarded motorcade and chuckled with a nod. "If you ask me, all that internal strife before was probably just an act.
"But it's quite nice this way. After all, who would have thought that the City Lord's Mansion wouldn't decline, but instead gain complete control over the Jinggang Chamber of Commerce and Primordial Oasis... Even all the founding families were purged.
"Serves them right, doesn't it? To think they actually colluded with the Rebels. They should count themselves lucky that Little City Lord Su and Marshal Su didn't wipe them out entirely..."
The volume of their discussion was neither loud nor quiet, drifting right into the center of the motorcade.
The suited security guards stationed around the vehicles remained silent, maintaining their distance as they kept a wary eye on the hunters.
Sitting in the back seat, Xu Fengnian sighed upon hearing this, his expression gloomy and unreadable.
"Young Master..."
"It's fine, Ah Xin." Shaking his head, Xu Fengnian, dressed in a dark combat uniform, forced a calm demeanor and signaled that there was no need to get angry.
"Let them say what they want. After all... the Xu family indeed made some mistakes." He sighed helplessly, a trace of desolation flashing through his eyes.
Who could have imagined that the Tan family would be so audacious as to collude with the Rebels and warlords, vainly attempting to overthrow the rule of the City Lord's Mansion and the Alliance Country?
For a moment, thinking back on some of the decisions he had made and the people he had deliberately distanced himself from because of the Tan family, a trace of regret inexplicably welled up in his heart.
TAP TAP.
In the midst of his silence, several figures approached.
The middle-aged man leading the group bore a slight resemblance to him. He wore a custom-made black combat uniform and was followed by several Elite Level security supervisors.
"Second Uncle?"
"We're almost at the destination." Xu Zhenggang's face was stern as he pointed into the distance of the jungle, toward a hillside a kilometer away. "For the antidote your father needs, we're only missing the Red Spirit Ore now.
"According to the intelligence from the Hunter Guild, this ore can only be found in the Howling Canyon. However, there's likely a Beast King there, along with several subordinate Mutant Beast tribes... When the time comes, follow my orders to the letter."
His deep, serious tone made all the Xu family security guards' hearts tighten. Hearing this, Xu Fengnian also put on a solemn expression and nodded heavily.
His father had been poisoned and was unable to rise, remaining in a deep coma. They had already been in the wilderness for quite some time; no matter what, they had to gather all the necessary materials.
Immediately, the various members of the Xu family began checking their firearms and ammunition, adjusting their drones and detection equipment.
Amidst the rustling sounds, noticing Xu Fengnian's silence, Xu Zhenggang stepped closer and patted his shoulder.
"Still thinking about what happened back then?" he asked softly, clearly seeing through his nephew's heavy heart.
Hearing this, Xu Fengnian sighed and nodded. "I was just thinking... if I had maintained a good relationship with Brother Lu back then, wouldn't the Storm Club be able to truly help us now?
"After all, Senior Chen and the others owe him favors. If he spoke up, they definitely wouldn't stand by and watch.
"And then there's the Hunter Guild. That Manager You is now a guild director with considerable influence. If Brother Lu put in a word, we could definitely borrow some strength there too..."
He felt somewhat guilty, believing he had made the wrong decision back then.
Upon hearing this, Xu Zhenggang's expression became complicated, and he fell silent for a moment.
Who could have imagined that the Tan family, which had been at the height of its power, would fall, and that the Superpower Bureau kid from a small place would later become an important figure influencing the entire Red Maple City Circle?
After a silence that lasted several breaths, the scorching sunlight filtered through the jungle canopy, turning into tangible beams of light.
"You shouldn't think that way," Xu Zhenggang suddenly spoke up.
Perhaps to convince himself, or perhaps to console his nephew, he shook his head and said, "He did offend the Biotechnology Company, after all. Even the Superpower Bureau could only declare him 'missing.'
"If we had gotten too close to him, our Xu family might have been implicated by now..."
"Is that so?" Xu Fengnian wondered internally. He didn't retort aloud, but an ever-growing sense of regret welled up in his heart.
Right at this moment.
SWISH SWISH!!
Birds and beasts scattered in a panic through the jungle.
The members of the Xu family were all stunned, and the many Wilderness Hunters resting a hundred meters away also looked shocked.
Everyone instantly tensed up. Grabbing their firearms or Fighting Weapons, they stared out of the jungle, their faces full of wariness and vigilance.
