Chapter 445 95: The Beast King Submits

Ten or so minutes later.

BOOM!!

A muffled explosion echoed, seemingly originating from deep within the mountain and shaking the surrounding wilderness.

Following the route from his memory, Lu Chao entered the interior of Nanyun Mountain through the cliff face. Amidst a RUSTLING sound, he looked up at the hidden metal passageway leading to the underground base. Specks of dust rained down from the ceiling. The hanging chandeliers swayed continuously, and the surrounding lights flickered on and off.

Sensing carefully, he felt the ground vibrate beneath his feet as more debris trembled and tumbled down. He was certain that a fierce battle was erupting at the very bottom of the base.

"Could it be that Beast King?"

Lu Chao's suspicions deepened. He quickly picked up his pace and arrived at the uppermost level of the base. Gray metal plates paved the walkway and formed individual rooms. According to his previous memories and the base's map, this was the living quarters for the experimental staff.

At this moment, numerous fresh muddy footprints were scattered across the corridor. The rooms on both sides also showed recent signs of being ransacked. It was obvious that Gwight had led his men into the base through here.

Seeing this, Lu Chao quietly expanded his Life Sensing. Lightening his footsteps, he descended the stairs from his memory.

Gradually, in addition to the original skeletal remains, he spotted the bodies of warlord soldiers in army-green uniforms lying in pools of blood.

A few minutes later, he arrived at the second underground level. The warlord soldier corpses he encountered along the way grew more numerous, and the signs of mutual slaughter became increasingly severe.

Finally, when he reached the entrance to the third underground level...

Terrified screams drifted up from below, mingled with the muffled squelches of exploding flesh and blood. Lu Chao looked down into the dim gloom. Unlike what he had seen last time, the steel bars of those cages were now broken and gaping, as if smashed open by some external force. Blood was splattered all over the ground. The walls of the fortified chambers were dented and deformed, surrounded by the corpses of numerous warlord soldiers.

SWISH! SWISH!!

Suddenly, the sound of objects tearing through the air came from below. Lu Chao narrowed his eyes. He could see several figures flying backward through the gloom, smashing into the steel cages like kites with broken strings. Amidst a series of heavy THUDS, the warlord soldiers died one after another. Their bones and internal organs were entirely shattered by the impact, or their chests were impaled by broken steel bars.

Lu Chao's eyes narrowed slightly at the sight. He stared at the dark area; this was exactly where he had stopped last time after sensing the aura of a powerful Beast King and nearly suffering a mental attack.

His Life Sensing provided new feedback. Lu Chao astutely locked onto two unique magnetic fields. Both were at the Transcendence Level, exuding a sense of formidable power. A furious human voice echoed from afar, accompanied by the wrathful roar of the Beast King. Soon after, the BOOMING sounds resumed, echoing endlessly. The entire base shook as if struck by an earthquake, rocked by the powerful aftershocks of the battle. The glass and wire mesh ceiling of the third underground level trembled and swayed. The reinforced cement coating on the rock walls on both sides fractured with a CRACK, forming fissures that constantly showered down rustling dust.

"They're actually still fighting..." Lu Chao's gaze grew increasingly solemn. After a moment of thought, he decided not to rush in.

He had already guessed the gist of it: it was highly likely that Gwight had somehow found this place and wanted to subjugate the Beast King. Judging by the current situation, the man seemed to have hit a wall and was struggling to take it down. Considering this, he decided to bide his time and let them tear each other apart, opting to wait patiently right where he was.
