Achieving Demon Godhood from Unlocking Talents
Chapter 437 91: Meeting Ji Lixian Again
It wouldn't be too late to consider these matters after he awakened another intermediate talent.
In the meantime, Lu Chao walked to the window and drew back the curtains. The city circle had already fallen into night, dotted with stars. Hovercars occasionally streaked across the night sky, trailing fiery exhausts.
WHOOSH! WHOOSH!
The night wind blew, rattling the windowpane.
The Biotechnology Company was indeed a massive problem that had to be resolved somehow. The Tan family's past targeting was also still fresh in his mind. If it hadn't been for the enhancement of Titan's Power back then, he might have perished in the wilderness.
But before all that...
He thought of Zheng Wu, Zhao Yuanqing, and the others. Although they had Mr. Ji's protection, he had been missing for many days. He wondered if they were truly as safe and sound as before.
That night.
At the Storm Club.
The massive glass arena was brightly lit. Through the windows, silhouettes could be seen moving inside. They weren't training hard as usual; instead, they were busily moving about, cleaning up the lobby.
Upon closer inspection, much of the training equipment on the first floor was scattered across the ground, as if caught in the crossfire of a fierce battle. The iron chains holding the sandbags had snapped. Barbell plates weighing hundreds of kilograms littered the floor, with some even wedged deeply into the walls. The sturdy floor was riddled with cracks, and several large holes gaped in the walls, letting in the night breeze. It looked as though someone had smashed them with a single punch.
"That guy today was ruthless. I can't believe he actually dared to attack our club."
"Tell me about it. Even Master Ge and the others couldn't hold him off. It's a good thing Master Chen came back in the end."
"The intruder seemed to be targeting Senior Brother Zheng, right?"
"Shh, watch what you say..."
The disciples wore grave expressions as they cleaned up the area, whispering about the day's events.
Meanwhile, in the quiet room in the club's backyard.
Three Superpower Hall Masters sat in mahogany chairs, each positioned against a wall. All of them wore solemn expressions. Ge Hongfeng, dressed in a silver robe, coughed lightly. His face was a bit pale. The Hall Master known as Old Feng also had a weak aura, indicating he had sustained some minor injuries.
"Thank you, three seniors, for your help."
Standing in the center of the room, Zheng Wu was uninjured, but his expression was complicated. He clasped his hands in gratitude and bowed deeply to each of the three men. "I will never forget your kindness today for as long as I live... I will definitely repay this favor tenfold in the future."
Sitting to the side, Ge Hongfeng stroked his beard and waved his hand gently.
"Junior Zheng, there's no need to be a stranger.
"Cough, cough... Although Junior Lu has gone missing, rest assured. This is the Storm Club. No matter who wants to deal with you, they will have to get past the three of us first."
His tone was grave. Even though he was coughing, his promise was earnest.
Sitting in the center, Chen Xuanxing nodded slightly. With a wave of his hand, Qi Flame transformed into a flowing cloud, forcefully lifting Zheng Wu back to a standing position.
"That's right." Wearing a white Martial Arts suit embroidered with cloud patterns, Chen Xuanxing looked at him calmly. "Junior Zheng, no matter what Junior Lu has done, you are still a Martial Arts coach at our Storm Club.
"Moreover, I don't think today's incident was the work of the Biotechnology Company."
His eyes revealed a thoughtful gleam, causing Ge Hongfeng and the others to pause in surprise.
"Old Chen, that person wasn't from the Biotechnology Company?" Ge Hongfeng asked, stroking his beard, his brows furrowed tightly.
The black-robed person who attacked Zheng Wu today had been incredibly powerful, highly likely an Exploration Level expert. If Old Chen hadn't coincidentally returned to the club, the assailant might have actually succeeded.
"My instincts tell me otherwise," Chen Xuanxing shook his head and lowered his voice. "After all, Mr. Ji personally visited the Biotechnology Company's building to issue a warning. They wouldn't dare cause trouble at such a critical juncture.
"Besides, that person was very restrained today, as if they didn't want me to recognize their Martial Arts techniques..."
Oh?
Ge Hongfeng caught the implication. "Are you saying... someone is trying to take advantage of the chaos?"
As soon as he spoke, silence fell over the room. Chen Xuanxing didn't explicitly confirm it, only nodding gently. However, the others present frowned deeply, their minds filling with various speculations.
Outside the quiet room, gusts of night wind blew past the window. Farther down the street, loose newspapers twirled in the air before landing on the checkered tiles by the curb.
Standing across from the Storm Club, Lu Chao paused in his tracks. Through the glass windows, he observed the messy scene in the lobby from afar.
"Something happened..."
His gaze grew increasingly cold as several suspects sprang to mind. Were the people from the Biotechnology Company using underhanded tactics? Or was someone else taking advantage of the chaos?
Under the veil of night, the streetlights cast a dim, yellow glow. Vehicles occasionally drove past on the street in front of him.
While he was deep in thought.
TAP. TAP.
Unconcealed footsteps suddenly approached from behind. His heart skipped a beat. He turned his head with a guarded look.
In an instant, as he clearly saw the newcomer, Lu Chao's pupils contracted.
"Heh, I just guessed that you might come."
The dim streetlights dispersed some of the gloom. The newcomer wore a black Borui suit, his hair neatly parted. As he drew closer, his familiar face—appearing around thirty years old—gradually came into view. His upright and peaceful smile brought an unexpected sense of reassurance.
"Mr. Ji..." Lu Chao's tone was complicated. He hadn't expected to see the man again so soon.
Moreover, he was incredibly surprised by one thing. He had already activated his Life Sensing, worried about being followed. Yet, despite that, he hadn't detected Mr. Ji's presence in advance. It was as if the other man's magnetic field had been restrained to the absolute limit, almost entirely disappearing.
"Don't worry, I'm not Legos," Ji Lixian joked with a faint smile, seemingly noticing his wariness.
Lu Chao rubbed his nose, not denying his momentary vigilance. The night breeze under the dim streetlights was relatively gentle. He watched as the man finally came to a halt about two meters away.
"Your progress has been much faster than I anticipated." Ji Lixian looked him up and down, his eyes full of admiration. "When I broke through to the Exploration Level, I was already twenty-three, half a year older than you are now.
"It seems you are indeed very talented in Superpower Martial Arts."
His tone was peaceful, laced with profound appreciation. Lu Chao fell silent for a moment. As a descendant of heroes, Ji Lixian's talent was undoubtedly at the pinnacle of the Earth Star. Lu Chao, on the other hand, had relied on his unique talents to bypass the normal progression curve.
However, he was still grateful.
"It's all thanks to your care, Mr. Ji, that I was able to break through so quickly," Lu Chao said earnestly. "And thank you for your help with recent events."
Whether it was helping him warn the Tan family back then, concealing the truth about him killing Ruan Hui, or rushing all the way from the southeast coast to the Red Maple City Circle to personally warn the Biotechnology Company... Mr. Ji had consistently offered him immense help without ever asking for anything in return.
"Heh." Chuckling peacefully, Ji Lixian shook his head gently. "You belong to the Superpower Bureau.
"Although we can't interfere overtly, this is, at the very least, still the Alliance Country."
Though his voice was soft, it resonated powerfully in Lu Chao's heart. He knew Mr. Ji was making a promise to fully protect him.
"However..." As if seeing through Lu Chao's thoughts, Ji Lixian turned to look at the Storm Club across the street. "I know what you're planning to do.
"But regarding today's incident at the Storm Club, I can confirm that someone else was behind it..." He glanced back, meeting Lu Chao's gaze with deep, perceptive eyes. "Furthermore, I don't recommend that you go and assassinate Han Feng right now."
Lu Chao remained silent, surprised that his intentions had been completely read.
He indeed harbored such plans. Han Feng was Ruan Hui's biological mother and currently one of the directors at the Biotechnology Company's headquarters. Because of this, he had considered sneaking into Yao Capital to eliminate her, pulling up the problem by the roots and putting an end to the matter once and for all.
"Although Han Feng's strength is ordinary—she's merely an Exploration Level Superpower Armor User—there's a catch," Ji Lixian said, his tone turning a bit serious. "The Biotechnology Company's headquarters also has Non-human Level experts."
Hearing this, Lu Chao's heart sank.
The Non-human Level was the tier above the three barriers. Before leaving the Earth Star, the Starry Sky Heroes had been at this very realm. Across the entire Earth Star, such top-tier powerhouses were extremely rare; their numbers could be counted on two hands.
Moreover, in the exposition of the Life Energy Development Theory, this realm had only one description:
[The Superpower Upper Limit of Most Planet-level Civilizations].
Silence descended as Lu Chao's gaze flickered with shifting thoughts.
"Additionally..." Ji Lixian raised his head slightly to look at the sky.
Hazy mist gathered around the moon in the night sky, floating like dark clouds that refused to dissipate.
"Someone has arrived from the Starry Sky."
