Succubi Chapter 189. RUN

I blinked. “Everything?”

“The sounds,” she clarified, lips twitching. “The battle. The voices.”

My brain immediately replayed it.

The moans.

The very unnecessary moans.

I stared straight ahead, face completely neutral.

“We decided to check,” she continued casually. “The women only.”

I nodded slowly. “Smart.”

“But then the men followed.”

I glanced over my shoulder at them. Still arguing. Still emotionally damaged.

“Because they were worried?” I asked, already knowing the answer.

She let out a soft hum.

“No.”

I raised a brow.

“They were worried,” she repeated lightly, “that someone might be… having fun with their favorite ‘monsters.’”

I paused.

Then I laughed.

Actually laughed this time.

Short. Sharp. Real.

“Yeah,” I muttered. “That tracks.”

Behind us, right on cue.

“If you miss them so much, go marry a ghost!” one of the women shouted.

“Don’t tempt me!” one man fired back immediately.

I covered my face for a second.

“This is so messed up.”

She laughed softly beside me. Not loud. Not exaggerated. Just… real.

And for a moment, the chaos behind us faded a little.

The night felt quieter.

Simpler.

Just two people standing at the edge of a forest that used to be filled with problems that made way too much noise.

I exhaled slowly, lowering my hand.

“So you came back today,” I said. “And found this.”

“And found you,” she corrected gently.

Yeah.

That right there?

That line?

That wasn’t casual.

That was a red flag wearing perfume and smiling politely.

My brain immediately went: abort mission.

My instincts? Even louder: RUN.

I straightened slightly, shifting my weight back just a little. Not obvious. Just enough to create space. Distance. Safety.

“Right,” I said, clearing my throat. “Well. Looks like everything’s handled. I should—”

“I assume your mission is finished, right?” she cut in smoothly.

I paused.

“…Yeah.”

Her lips curved.

“Good.”

There was a beat.

Then…

“As a thank you… maybe we can go to my house?”

…

My brain stopped.

Paused.

Replayed that sentence.

Ran diagnostics.

ERROR.

DANGER.

UNKNOWN VARIABLE DETECTED.

I didn’t even hesitate this time.

“No,” I said immediately. “Sorry. I need to report the mission back to the academy.”

Clean.

Direct.

Safe answer.

Good job, Evan.

She tilted her head slightly, not offended.

“I have a mission too,” she said casually.

“Then you should submit it to the academy,” I replied. “I’m still a student. I can’t accept random missions.”

Logical.

Responsible.

Academy-approved answer.

10/10.

She stepped closer.

Again.

Too close.

My shoulders stiffened just a fraction.

Then she leaned in slightly, voice lowering.

“Why?” she murmured. “Are you afraid?”

My eye twitched.

‘No.’

“Yes. The academy has rules.”

I stayed still.

Then…

“Hm~ Rogue Mask E?”

…

…

…

Silence.

Complete silence.

My brain went completely blank.

Not even panic.

Just…

Oh.

That.

That’s bad.

I didn’t move.

Didn’t blink.

Didn’t breathe for half a second.

Slowly.

Very slowly.

I turned my head toward her.

She was smiling.

Sweet.

Soft.

Dangerous.

Eyes locked directly into mine.

Sharp.

Certain.

“Ah,” she said quietly. “I’m right.”

My jaw tightened slightly.

“What do you want?”

Straight to the point.

No denial.

No acting.

She already knew.

No point playing dumb.

“Nothing,” she said lightly.

Yeah.

That’s a lie.

A pretty one.

But still a lie.

She tilted her head, watching me closely.

“But after the last tournament… when you beat me…”

So she remembers.

“I was looking for you,” she continued. “But you and your group disappeared.”

Yeah.

We did.

On purpose.

For reasons exactly like this.

Her gaze dragged over me slowly.

Evaluating.

Measuring.

“Never thought you were still a student.”

I didn’t respond.

Didn’t need to.

Because the way she was looking at me now?

Different.

Not amused.

Not just curious anymore.

Interested.

And not in a safe way.

“You really got my interest,” she added softly.

That sentence?

Yeah.

That one hit differently.

Not loud.

Not dramatic.

Just… heavy.

She stepped even closer.

Close enough that I could feel her presence clearly now.

Her mana.

Her heat.

Her breath.

Then she leaned in.

Right near my ear.

And whispered, “How did my boobs feel last time?”

…

…

I froze.

Everything stopped.

My brain played it again.

In full detail.

Slow motion.

Sound effects included.

My soul left my body for the second time.

“Nice, right?” she continued softly. “Do you want more?”

I closed my eyes.

Just for a second.

Just one.

Because if I didn’t?

I was going to combust.

I exhaled slowly, opening my eyes again.

“…So you lured me to your house for this?”

Deadpan.

Flat.

Survival mode.

She pulled back slightly.

Smiled.

“No.”

Pause.

“I do have a mission.”

Of course you do.

“…”

“But yes,” she added casually, “I’ll follow the rules and submit it to the academy.”

I stared at her.

Long.

Hard.

Trying to figure out which part of this was real.

The mission?

The interest?

The trap?

Or all of it?

Because yeah…

This?

This wasn’t just random anymore.

This was targeted.

Calculated.

And somehow… playful.

Which made it worse.

Way worse.

Behind us, the villagers were still arguing about ghost girlfriends and life choices.

But up here?

Right here?

The air felt heavier.

Quieter.

Focused.

On me.

On her.

On whatever this weird, dangerous… thing was becoming.

I swallowed once. “You’re trouble.”

She smiled wider. “Only if you’re interesting enough.”

Yeah.

That wasn’t reassuring at all.

I pulled out my Return Crystal, lifting it slightly between us. “Anyway… I need to go back.”

“I know,” she said softly. No resistance. No teasing. Just… certainty.

Her eyes held mine for a second longer. “We’ll meet again, Rogue Mask E.”

I didn’t answer.

Just crushed the crystal.

Light flared beneath my feet, the teleportation circle forming in glowing lines. The air hummed, space bending around me.

And right before it pulled me away…

I caught it.

A man in a butler’s attire stepped up behind her. Silent. Sharp. Not a villager.

She leaned slightly, whispering something to him.

Then looked back at me.

Still smiling.

Yeah.

That smile?

That definitely meant something.
