Chapter 3009: Chapter 3010: Everyone Must Pass This Trial
Zhong Kui and the clan elders all gasped together, each showing a look of terror.
Bai Ruozhu started to murmur to herself, did someone enter here and steal part of the mysterious meat?
But this is the Zhong Family’s secret chamber, not to mention the tight security, even the opening method wouldn’t be possible for outsiders, right?
"Patriarch, immediately seal the mansion and thoroughly investigate the Zhong Family!" the third clan elder urgently shouted.
"Alright, I’ll issue the command right away, although I fear it’s already too late," Zhong Kui sighed, "It’s been several days since Songsong was countered."
"Three days," Ao Song added.
The clan elders remained silent, three days are too long, even three hours would be enough for someone to withdraw.
"No matter what, we must find out. There has to be an inner traitor in the family," the third clan elder said.
"Right, it can only be someone from inside; outsiders wouldn’t be capable," Zhong Kui stated.
Having finished speaking, he bowed to the clan elders, handed the mysterious meat to Ao Song, and then strode outside.
As soon as he left, the entrance roared shut again.
"Proceed," Ao Song stabilized his emotions and said.
"Alright, let’s protect him," the third clan elder said.
Bai Ruozhu gathered her thoughts, her eyes fixed nervously on the astrologer. Whether he would be okay depended on this moment.
Ao Song walked to the astrologer and gently placed the mysterious meat into his mouth.
The astrologer, unconscious, couldn’t swallow, yet the mysterious meat seemed to melt, flowing into his mouth.
Ao Song’s eyes reflected anxiety, she too was worried about whether the astrologer would wake up.
The mysterious meat seemed alive, burrowing into the astrologer’s throat. Soon, something seemed to swell in his throat, then slowly moved downward to his chest, where it bulged through the fabric, reminiscent of a mouse burrowing into clothing.
Bai Ruozhu held her breath. This was the mysterious meat; was it alive?
Suddenly, the astrologer’s body unexpectedly jolted, his tightly shut eyes instantly opened, and he emitted a painful howl.
"Protect him!" The clan elders surrounded the bed, encircling the astrologer, eight hands utilizing unknown magic techniques, forming a subtle glow that enveloped the astrologer.
"Songsong, come out quickly," another elder urged.
Ao Song shook her head, "I’m fine; it won’t hurt me."
The elders didn’t insist, simply maintaining the serious expression while forming the protective barrier.
The astrologer had already leaped up, but it seemed his body wasn’t under his control, as his pose was disturbingly strange, with angles no normal person would assume.
Moreover, when he turned his head, Bai Ruozhu noticed his eyes were gray, void of any light; he hadn’t truly awakened!
What effect did eating the mysterious meat have? Why was the Zhong Family elders so nervous?
The astrologer’s body suddenly bounced upwards, colliding with the barrier shield formed by the elders, and then heavily fell back down.
Ao Song rushed forward to catch him but was immediately rebounded, her body hitting the barrier hard.
"Ao Song, don’t concern yourself with him, everyone has to go through this trial, don’t hurt yourself again," the fifth clan elder said tenderly.
During the conversation, the astrologer bounced again to the side, once more hitting the barrier, rebounding back. Each collision was loud, as if the astrologer’s entire being was about to explode.
