Chapter 426: Chapter 426: Unless We Live Together (6)

Just what was the relationship between Seraphina Sterling and Nadia Chapman? How had she managed to get a letter of recommendation? What kind of connections did she have? The crowd couldn’t help but shift their gazes toward Seraphina, finding this sensational newcomer more and more mysterious. She was supposedly from a small town and had never seen the world, yet her composure stood in stark contrast to the awe of many others when she’d first walked in. She acted as if such occasions were entirely commonplace for her.

Moreover, she clearly knew who Shelby Fenton was, yet she showed no fear and confronted her directly. And now, it turned out she was also connected to Nadia Chapman. Was someone like this really just a student from a small town? The crowd grew doubtful.

"So what if Nadia Chapman recommended her? Does that mean she gets special treatment?" Shelby Fenton had only heard of Nadia Chapman and knew nothing about her personally. In her eyes, Nadia was just a senior who’d started a couple of companies—hardly comparable to the might of the Fenton Family.

"Fenton is right. We can’t give her special treatment just because Nadia Chapman recommended her. After all, Nadia is just an entrepreneur—and not even a particularly successful one. Keystone Technologies is a shadow of its former self. After taking such a heavy blow, it’s hard to say how much it can recover. And Apex Wealth Management just opened. It might have had a successful launch, but wealth management is an inherently high-risk industry. We’ll have to see how the company actually performs over time."

The moment he heard Nadia Chapman’s name, Preston Patterson’s attitude toward Seraphina Sterling turned instantly hostile. This abrupt change startled the other club members. Everyone knew Preston; he was good-natured, rarely lost his temper, and almost never questioned the president’s decisions. Yet this time, he was publicly opposing Seraphina’s appointment as the discipline officer! What was going on?

"See? I’m not the only one who has a problem with this. Even Director Patterson agrees the president’s decision is inappropriate!" Bolstered by Preston Patterson’s support, Shelby Fenton grew bolder.

Hugo Xavier’s brows furrowed slightly as he turned to Seraphina. "It’s not that I don’t want to help you, and it’s not that I’m trying to disrespect Nadia Chapman. I simply have to consider the other members’ opinions. Sterling, what do you think we should do?"

’That damn Hugo Xavier! He actually set me up! No wonder he was so easygoing during the interview. So this is what he was waiting for! All I did was hit him with one dart. Is he even a man, holding a grudge like this?’

"Are you really opposing this because you think there’s a problem with the appointment itself?" Seraphina Sterling stood up, her soft voice rising slightly.

"Of course! If the club sets a precedent for one person, how are we supposed to answer to the other members?" Preston Patterson retorted, full of righteous indignation.

"Hypocrite," Seraphina said bluntly.

"Seraphina Sterling—don’t you go too far! I am still your senior and your director!" Preston Patterson yelled.

"Director Patterson. Mr. Patterson. Preston Patterson. Justin Chapman’s second wife and Nora Quinn’s stepmother—Noelle Patterson—is your aunt, correct?" Seraphina Sterling’s radiant eyes were incredibly sharp, like a blade piercing skin and striking the heart.

Preston Patterson’s eyes narrowed.

The crowd was even more shocked. This was gossip! Juicy, high-society gossip! Amid their astonishment, everyone pricked up their ears, waiting eagerly for what would come next.

"Noelle Patterson has always targeted Nadia Chapman, forcing a legitimate heiress to live a life worse than an ordinary person’s. How else could she have gone through four years of university with no one knowing she was the eldest daughter of the Chapman Family? At first, I thought it was just Noelle Patterson’s personal moral failing. Now, I see I was wrong. It seems your entire Patterson family has questionable morals. The president merely mentioned that Nadia Chapman recommended me, and you immediately came after me. You’ve shown no sense of right or wrong, no moral compass whatsoever—all because of the name ’Nadia Chapman.’ As a top student at the prestigious Aethelgard University, aren’t you ashamed of yourself?"
