Chapter 419: Chapter 419: This Chick Is Actually Bisexual (7)

"Since you don’t know why so many guys are after you, I’ll be merciful and clear things up. Of course, it’s because of two words: Shelby Fenton!" Genevieve Churchill’s voice rang out from the crowd.

"But please, don’t misunderstand. I’m not saying your name is so beautiful that it makes all these guys swarm around you like bees to a blooming flower!"

Shelby Fenton’s expression began to sour, but Genevieve Churchill had no intention of being so kind as to let her off the hook. This peacock was just begging to be put in her place. Give her an inch, and she’ll take a mile! If she didn’t get a talking-to, her ego would soon be soaring to the heavens.

"What I mean is, it’s the ’Fenton’ in ’Shelby Fenton’ that’s so valuable! Doesn’t your family run banks? They must be loaded. Any guy who marries you wouldn’t just be shaving ten or twenty years off the grind—he’d never have to work another day in his life! He could just kick back and enjoy himself without ever having to do a lick of hard work. You tell me, with a deal that good, and since no one here is a fool, who *wouldn’t* want to be the Fenton Family’s son-in-law?"

Genevieve Churchill flashed a brilliant smile. "So, now you see why you have so many guys chasing after you? No need to thank me for clearing up your confusion. We’re all classmates here. It just so happens I knew the answer to your little problem. It was nothing, really, just moving my lips. A small favor. No thanks necessary. I just love helping people!"

Some students in the crowd could no longer hold back and burst out laughing. You couldn’t blame them for their lack of self-control; Genevieve Churchill’s words were just too vicious. In just a few sentences, she had left Shelby Fenton completely speechless! She had also hit the nail right on the head, laying out the entire situation in the simplest and most direct terms. The truth was, many students already knew all this. They just never had the guts to say it out loud.

Genevieve Churchill was the bold type. Shelby Fenton was already angry enough to breathe fire! Yet, she couldn’t utter a single word to defend herself, because everything Genevieve Churchill said was the truth. If Shelby Fenton wasn’t the Fenton Family’s heiress, how could so many guys possibly be after her? It wasn’t like everyone had suddenly gone blind!

"Genevieve Churchill, you’re just jealous! It’s a fact that Shelby’s last name is Fenton. You don’t have to announce it with such fanfare; we all know! I bet you’re jealous she was born into a prestigious family, right? Well, you can’t change your own birthright with jealousy! Who can you blame but yourself for not picking a wealthy family when you were born? Regardless of why those guys are pursuing Shelby, the fact remains that she’s the most popular girl here, and all your jealousy won’t change that!"

Yvonne Hollis immediately stepped forward to defend Shelby Fenton. She’d lost count of how many times she’d played the sycophant; it was second nature to her now. Hearing Yvonne Hollis’s words, Shelby Fenton’s expression brightened, and she became even more smug and self-satisfied.

But this was Genevieve Churchill. How could she possibly be defeated by a few sentences from Yvonne Hollis? She just shook her head. "I was wrong. I was truly wrong!"

Hearing this, Shelby Fenton puffed up with even more pride, a condescendingly forgiving smile spreading across her face. "Since you already know you were wrong, and I’m magnanimous enough to forgive, I won’t—"

"Shelby Fenton, don’t flatter yourself. I certainly wasn’t apologizing to you. What I meant was, I underestimated the power of the name ’Shelby Fenton.’ I had thought that name only held a special appeal for guys. I never imagined it held such a powerful allure for girls, too! Otherwise, why would Yvonne Hollis defend you so fiercely? I’m dying to know, what are your thoughts on her? I know we live in very open-minded times, with gay and lesbian relationships being quite common, but to see it happening right in front of me... well, I’m still quite surprised!"
