Chapter 396: Chapter 396: Mr. Grant’s Appearance (4)

Walter Sterling valued his dignity above all else, especially with Justin Hale present. For him to blow up like that, it was clear just how furious he was! He’d completely thrown his reputation to the wind.

There was no reason for Seraphina Sterling to stay any longer. As she walked out the main gate, she faintly heard Owen Sterling’s voice behind her. "Useless for anything but causing trouble! From now on, stay away from the Sterling Family’s shopping centers unless you have a good reason!"

A warm smile touched Seraphina Sterling’s lips. ’Jasmine Faulkner, this is what you get for picking a fight with me for no good reason!’ The sounds of arguing continued to drift from the house, but Seraphina paid them no mind. Her pace quickened, and as the shouting faded, it felt as though she was leaving one world behind for another. In the end, she was not walking the same path as them.

Just as Seraphina emerged, a horn honked. A car pulled up in front of her, and the window rolled down. "Get in!"

"Terrence Grant—" ’It’s so late. Why would he be here now? This place is so out of the way; he couldn’t possibly be just passing through.’ Seraphina got into the car. ’The man is incredibly stubborn. If I don’t get in, there’s no telling what he might do! He’s capable of anything!’ Without a word, Seraphina got in, leaned back against the seat, and closed her eyes.

"Aren’t you worried I might sell you off? You didn’t even ask our destination!" Terrence Grant’s voice held a hint of amusement, perhaps because he was happy to see her.

"Take me to Aethelgard University, please. Thank you." Seraphina still didn’t open her eyes. Even Terrence Grant couldn’t guess what was on her mind.

"I was tied up with a few things the other day, so I missed your call. I’m sorry about what happened with Ethan Thompson. There’s nothing between Skylar Thompson and me; it’s always been one-sided on her part. I don’t have any feelings for her whatsoever. After you left the club last time, I made that crystal clear to her. I never expected she would still come after you. And I certainly didn’t expect Ethan Thompson to indulge her like that, going so far as to become a drill instructor at your university just to give you a hard time!"

Terrence Grant drove steadily and slowly, his low voice echoing inside the car as he explained everything, clearly afraid that Seraphina might misunderstand.

"But I’ve already gotten revenge for you. He’ll probably be in the hospital for a week. If you’re still not satisfied, you can go ’pay him a visit’ at the hospital! He’s in no condition to fight back right now. Even if he wanted to, he’s no match for you. You can vent your anger however you like. I guarantee he won’t dare do a thing to you!"

Seraphina finally opened her eyes. "Terrence Grant, please be quiet for a moment. I’m exhausted."

Terrence Grant froze. Only then, in the dim light, did he notice the faint shadows under her eyes. The sky had been too dark earlier for him to see her dark circles. Looking at her closely now, he saw her face was etched with exhaustion, and a pang of pain shot through his heart. Thinking about everything she had been dealing with recently, he spoke again. "You don’t have to work this hard. The Sutton Group, The Faulkner Group, The Fenton Group—it doesn’t matter which. Just say the word, and I’ll destroy them all for you. You can just wait for the results and be my Mrs. Grant. I want you to have an easier, happier life."

A long silence followed. Hearing such considerate words when one is exhausted is bound to bring a profound sense of warmth. Seraphina was no exception.

"You should save the title of Mrs. Grant for Miss Thompson. Given her personality, who knows what kind of scheme she’ll cook up next since she failed this time. I’m too busy right now; I don’t have the energy to deal with her." Seraphina opened her eyes. ’She wasn’t the least bit surprised that Terrence Grant knew what she was up to. He always wore a mask; beneath that facade of reckless abandon was a deep and calculating mind. Here in Aethelgard, if there was something he wanted to know, no one could hide it from him.’

"Seraphina Sterling, you’re my girlfriend now! Don’t you forget it! I’ve told you many times, the only Mrs. Grant will be you, and no one else! If Skylar Thompson keeps causing you trouble, don’t hold back. If anything happens, your Mr. Grant will take care of it!" Terrence Grant didn’t hesitate. In his eyes, nothing was more important than Seraphina.

’He even dares to provoke the Thompson Family!’ Seraphina looked at him, studying his expression, trying to discern if he was telling the truth. ’The Thompson Family isn’t one of the prominent families, but they’re a force that no prominent family in Aethelgard—not even the Grant Family—would dare to provoke lightly!’

"You’d really let me do as I please?" Seraphina’s dazzling eyes flickered with doubt, yet they were exceptionally bright. "Aren’t you worried I’ll be too ruthless and start a direct feud with the Thompson Family? Wouldn’t that put you in a difficult position?"

Terrence Grant’s heart stirred as he looked into her sparkling eyes, and he felt his pulse quicken. "Don’t worry, your Mr. Grant isn’t that useless. This is a trivial matter; I don’t give it a second thought. I can’t let my future Mrs. Grant be wronged, can I?" His voice was a little hoarse. Gazing at the delicate face before him, his heart was already racing uncontrollably.

"Forget it. The title of ’Mrs. Grant’ is far too popular, and you have too many admirers buzzing around you. I don’t have the energy to deal with them every day. If you just stayed away from me, my problems would vanish. Why would I pass up such a simple solution to go fight a battle of wits against a legion of wealthy heiresses? Do you think I’m crazy?"

For a moment, Seraphina was truly tempted. ’To have someone who would defy powerful families for your sake, who would let you do as you please and clean up any mess you made... not just anyone was capable of that, especially not those from prominent families. For them, family and profit were always the most important things. They would sacrifice anything for personal gain. That Terrence Grant could make such a promise was truly astonishing.’ But she had experienced the world’s cruelest betrayal. When it came to her feelings, she was more rational than impulsive.

Hearing this, Terrence Grant immediately swerved off the main road and into an alley, his voice filled with fury. "Seraphina Sterling, girls who are too rational aren’t cute! What will it take for you to stop running away? Don’t use age as an excuse! I refuse to believe you can’t see how I feel about you!"

"Stop the car! I need to get to the university! I don’t want to talk about this!" Seraphina dodged Terrence Grant’s invasive gaze. ’Those eyes, brimming with such deep affection, were too heavy a burden for her to bear.’

This time, Terrence Grant didn’t say a word. He simply stopped the car and kissed her. It was urgent and unrestrained, utterly possessive. Just like the man himself—domineering and forceful, giving Seraphina not a shred of opportunity to resist. He forced her to accept the kiss, to feel the depths of his devotion.

They hadn’t seen each other in over half a month—not since he had dropped Seraphina off at the university on the first day of the semester. Terrence’s longing for her had already become bone-deep, and this intimate contact instantly ignited the passion he had suppressed for so long. A single kiss was all it took to set off a volcano that had been ready to erupt.
