Seraphina Sterling’s admission to Aethelgard University brought joy to some and sorrow to others. Walter Sterling was naturally delighted, but Owen Sterling and Jasmine Faulkner were in no mood to celebrate. Didn’t this completely overshadow their daughter, Maple?

"Aunt, Grandfather has no reason to lie to you. It’s true. I’ve been accepted into Aethelgard University. I report to the school in a week," Seraphina replied, her tone perfectly calm. It was a simple statement of fact, devoid of the pride in Walter Sterling’s voice.

"However, Grandfather, my uncle and aunt have a point. I’m still young, so it’s a bit too early for me to join the company. It would be perfect for me to go during my senior year internship." Seraphina’s decision wasn’t driven by any fear of Owen Sterling’s wariness. In truth, she simply didn’t have time for all the messy affairs of The Sterling Group, nor did she have the energy to deal with Owen Sterling.

’The businesses I own aren’t fully in order yet. The auction house and the antique shop are managed by Mina Adler and Joel Xavier, so I don’t have to divide my attention there. But Keystone Technologies can’t rely on Nadia Chapman alone. Although Nadia is exceptionally talented, she’s currently in a phase of bridging theory with practice and needs a long period of adjustment. There are many things I have to handle personally.’

’Keystone dealt such a heavy blow to Hale Corporation; there’s no way Justin Hale will let Keystone Technologies off the hook. Don’t be fooled by his current inaction. I know him. Justin Hale is definitely waiting in the wings somewhere. The moment he gets an opportunity, he will absolutely retaliate. I have to be prepared at all times to fend off Justin Hale.’

’On top of that, Leo Jennings’s overseas investments are starting to show some scale, but he’s still just a beginner. Much of the time, his perspective is still shallow; he only sees things on the surface. Every single investment must be personally reviewed by me before it can go through!’

’So, yes, I’m very busy. School starts in a week, and my life will get even busier. Where would I find the energy to worry about The Sterling Group’s problems?!’

"Since you’ve said so yourself, we’ll wait until your senior year internship!" Walter Sterling’s face was grim; he was clearly reluctant. If he could, he would have had her enter the company immediately to gain experience.

Owen Sterling and Jasmine Faulkner exchanged a look, both sighing in relief. ’That hurdle is finally cleared!’ Right now, Owen Sterling was the only member of the Sterling family in a key position at the company. If another one like Seraphina got in, it could easily ruin everything. After all, Orson Sterling used to run the company, and many of the senior executives he had promoted were still there. There was no guarantee they wouldn’t support Seraphina.

"Jasmine, Seraphina’s birthday party is not to be taken lightly. It must be done well!" Jasmine Faulkner hadn’t even had a moment to savor her victory before Walter Sterling spoke again. As unwilling as she was, she could only agree.

After a commotion that lasted half the night, everyone finally dispersed. It was just a birthday, and Seraphina truly didn’t care about it at all. ’I have no idea what Grandfather is so insistent about!’

After this incident, Owen Sterling stopped plotting against Seraphina and focused his energy on the company.
