Chapter 238: Chapter 238

Dulce felt the pleasure increase in waves until it completely swept him under, his vision going dark. He opened his eyes to gentle nibbling on the lobe of his ears and Ruoxi’s low voice in shell of his eyes, the cresting pleasure undulating.

He had his arms tightly wrapped around the Demon’s neck, completely surrendering himself to the overwhelming pleasure. They clung to each other for an unknown amount of time, the pleasure only fading as the heat in the room cooled.

Dulce had always missed sleep because it was something he had always been able to do until his lost his heart. Exhausted from the exertion and the drawn-out pleasure, it was no surprise that he slipped into a dreamless sleep, his breathing peaceful.

Ruoxi lifted his head from the curve of Dulce’s neck, only feeling the sting in his teeth after the overwhelming wave of pleasure started to recede from the bank. The warmth that swept outwards from his visible mark was sublime, it made him want to fall asleep still sheathed in Dulce.

He didn’t, reluctantly rising to his feet after indulging in the addicting sensation for a short while longer. Dulce remained asleep even after they were both cleaned up, so he brought the Vampire back to his bed after stripping away the first layer of sheets.

Dulce falling into a trance wasn’t surprising, after all, it wasn’t the first time. And the Vampire seemed to have undergone endless changes since his heart was returned to its rightful place.

Ruoxi wrapped Dulce’s tight, holding the Vampire close as he retired for the night...

Of course, Dulce had only remained unaffected, distant and cold because the Vampire had been devoid of emotions. The return of Dulce’s heart had revealed the version of Dulce that wouldn’t endlessly indulge him, but it had in turn reinforced an unrefutable truth.

Ruoxi had yet to get invovled anyone regardless of gender or race that wasn’t completely obsessed with him. The mere thought of the cold-as-ice Vampire falling in love was enough to make another wave of warmth swept through him.

It was an interesting challenge that he didn’t want to turn away from... their undressed bodies were pressed together, his half-hard length squished between the sleeping Vampires plush thighs even as he fought off the urge to sheathe himself in him.

Dulce woke up first, the aphrodisiacs from the night before had yet to completely leave his bloodstream so he woke up with a heavy discomfort in his lower body, his middle aching from the drawn out tension.

Self-consciousness washed over him as soon as he roused, distracted by Ruoxi’s handsome sleeping face. The Demon’s lotus mark was still visible, it glowed a soft gold, the space between his brows peacefully smooth.

Dulce wrenched his gaze from the Demon’s face, extricating himself even though he woke up aroused. In a blur of colors, he left the room for his, still drowsy even through he had slept through most of the night.

He beelined for his bed as soon as he arrived in his room, not slowing down in the slightest even at the sight of Caedos in his bed. He should have known that he would return to find the Hellhound right here, he should kick the Hound out of his bed or just forego sleep completely.

His thoughts were riotous but his body seemed to have a mind of its own, instead of deciding how to get rid of the Demon, he instead got into the bed as well.

His return had already begun to rouse the Hellhound, so as soon as his weight made the bed dip, drowsy, hazel eyes were already fixed on him.

Caedos woke up instantly, his nose scrunching up at the overwhelming scent of lotus flowers that clung to Dulce. A discomfort easily forgotten as soon as the Vampire closed the distance.

It was first light, the draped curtains shrouding the soft blue light of dawn. Caedos pulled the still drowsy Vampire into his arms, the turbulent heat in his veins easing when Dulce sank into his arms without a word, falling fast asleep.

Dulce woke up alone, but there was an unmistakable, lingering warmth that he would rather wasn’t there. His body still thrummed with oversensitivity even as he got ready for the day.

It was already late in the morning, and when he stepped out of his room, Asael was equally doing the same like the Demon had been keeping tabs on him the entire time.

"Let’s go fishing."Asael invited, walking over.

Dulce said nothing in response but he didn’t protest either, bracing himself for the short trip when Asael closed the distance. He couldn’t say if the queasy feeling he got after being warped had eased or not, taking his time before prying open his eyes.

They were at the pond in the meadow, it had gotten warmer so its ice cover had thawed, water trickling into the body of water from a babbling brook. A picnic blanket was already laid out, a quaint, covered basket placed on its cornered edge.

There was also a stack of fishing rods, a drum of water to keep their catch and a sizable box of bait; everything had already been prepared.

"I didn’t quite expect you of all to stay." Dulce said without warning when they both prepared a fishing rod and got comfortable on the picnic blanket laid out on the tender green shoots of grass.

Asael already had his rod cast out, the hook empty as always, so he didn’t bother to keep an eye on the pond, staring Dulce down with wordless interest. "Why?"

Dulce looked down at his own fishing rod with disdain, looking like he would rather be anywhere else. "I merely deduced that a Shadow Assassin would have far better things to do."

Asael didn’t look away, a faint smile stretching out his lips. "I’d much rather do what I want."

Dulce glanced at him and found the Shadow Demon’s gaze fixated on him. When he looked away, there was a faint flush to his skin, his bobber sinking.

Asael said little as he fished and it was an unexpectedly pleasant time, a lively fish or two diving out of the barrel of water ever so often after they had been fishing for a good long while. Most all of the fish in the barrel had been caught by Dulce, and when it was time to leave, the Vampire almost looked reluctant.

"We can come fishing again if you would like." Asael invited politely, catching Dulce reluctance.

"I’ll pass." The Vampire didn’t give neither him nor the pond one last look after him spoke, immediately taking his leave.

The Vampire moved almost too fast for Asael’s eyes to track, but he didn’t move from his spot even when Dulce went out of sight, his rod put away.

There were gentle ripples over the surface of the pond ever so often, it reminded him of Dulce’s eyes, and how he could almost read the Vampire’s thoughts in his expressive eyes.

Black shadows coated a wrist, dripping off his fingertips into something tangible. He made a fishing rod out of his shadows but he didn’t throw it into the water, lost in thought.

There was still so much to learn about Dulce... his tainted curiosity made his gray eyes gleam, the unnatural fishing rod in his hands reforming into a familiar sizable ball.

By the time Asael returned to the cottage, it was already sun down. The servants had already ridden down to the pond to gather up the items they used, naturally, there would be a lot of fish dishes at dinnertime.

Dinner was had in the dining room this time, the final meal of the day silent tonight as well. Ruoxi was in a palpably good mood, his lotus mark yet to sink into his skin. He didn’t seem to care or notice it, visibly pleased even through his lazy air.

Caedos was quiet and solemn, his attention fixed on Dulce. He waited expectantly for Dulce to slip a cut of meat onto his plate.

Dulce had been absentminded the last time, but this time, he caught himself as he did. He was already turned in Caedos’ direction, the nice cut of meat already halfway between their plates.

There was little else to do at that point but give the cut of meat to the Hellhound. After all, they had agreed to extend their companionship for another year so it wasn’t exactly out of place.

Kath’tan was the only one in a sour mood, his discontent going completely unnoticed as everyone else seemed occupied with their thoughts.

Asael certainly was; the Shadow Demon ate as he always did, heartily, but his gaze was distant, his attention completely taken up by something important.

"Do you intend to make the trip to Noctyrn tonight?" Dulce broke the silence as dinner came to an end, the Vampire wore a haughty expression, his silver blue eyes distant.

"I can’t miss an opportunity to sleep." Asael matched his disinterest. The Shadow Demon’s eyes were black but they still glinted with curiosity.

Dulce scoffed silently, ignoring the fact that Asael had slept in the cottage at the last time. He rose to his feet and walked around the dining table to the Demon, resigned to the queasy feeling he was bound to get after warping.
