A Tale of Forgotten Gods
Chapter 156: The Meet Up
Chapter 156: The Meetup
In the morning of 19 November. Mo Fei lay on his bed, looking at the ceiling as he called out. "Kiyori, are you there?"
After a short pause, her voice answered. "Yes."
"You didn’t answer for a long time and only said that there was some kind of festival?" He asked as he slowly sat down.
"Yes, the Kagura festival."
"I have heard of it, that also happens in my world."
"Really? That sounds like both places are similar." Her voice answered with a slight curiosity.
"A bit but not too much, so now it’s over?"
"I left the shrine last night." She said while looking at the mountain ahead and the village at the bottom.
"I have an important thing to tell." Mo Fei closed his eyes as he knew what the Divine Serpent told him that she’d be directly involved in the Lenormand Club since she had the Serpent now. "If something happens at Midnight, don’t be surprised."
"What will happen?"
"Wait for it, I’ll have to go now for an important place."
"Be careful, and take this, wait." Her voice lowered as she carefully brought a red silk string from the small pocket of the bag, and it suddenly disappeared from her hand.
Mo Fei grabbed it as it appeared in his grasp. "What’s this?"
"I made it." She answered, anticipating his reaction.
"Why?"
"For your hair, you know it’d look good when you tie it." Kiyori sounded even more anticipating.
"Kiyori..." Mo Fei chuckled slightly, trying to think of how to explain. "I actually trimmed my hair..."
"You... did... WHAT?"
Mo Fei scratched his head before standing up and grabbed his towel to get bathed, although he had bought the room somehow with a small place that could be called a washroom, but the main bathroom door was locked since it was for a wealthy man, who had came here for a trip. The man’s room was just beside him, so he took his clothes and moved out for the public bath. "I trimmed it to change my appearance."
"Why would you do that now? They looked good." She complained, leaving Mo Fei staring down at the red string.
"What does it even do?"
Kiyori thought for a moment before speaking again. "Not any supernatural pro-pur-purropsoe—purpose, but it would just remind you that we met."
"Is that so?" Mo Fei put the string on the table and walked out of his rented room. "I’ll talk later."
With that, his voice lowered in the spirit world as he recalled the wealthy man named Mr. Barthendet and looked back at the direction of the bathroom.
That short but with heavy, wealthy stomach guy, a gentleman who used to wear a tall hat with a long, thick mustache and a black suit, always inspected his private bathroom actively to take note if Mo Fei made the water dirty.
If he found that Mo Fei used his ’privilege’ and ’expensive’ place to bathe, then he would lose all his gentlemanly traits by flailing his stick and striking Mo Fei’s rented room’s door. Maybe shout some things like, "Darn you, beetle," or maybe, "I’ll remember you forever, and if I see this happen again, go scram along your filthy luggage." And knowing him, he may even say, "This is the most value-for-money apartment that I bought for my own convenience. Mark my word, no one will be this kind in the whole Ciradyl to let you go freely."
Mo Fei just exhaled a sigh before entering the public bathroom. There were many middle-aged men and young people bathing. Although it was a small public bath, it was at least nearby, and given the time, that was a privilege in itself.
He quickly finished bathing before wearing his outfit, re-entered his room, and finally remembered his words to Silas.
He took all the money he had from his table, placed them in different pockets, ensuring that they wouldn’t be lost, and came out as he wore the mask again.
"He may come anytime; I should be prepared and wait there."
At that moment, he recalled the £25,000 he had taken from the company. Naturally, he was unable to use it for personal purposes as it was stolen; maybe he could use it to fund orphanages and schools or animal care.
He took a carriage and reached the Ciradyl port that existed on the southwest side in the Victoria district.
It was one of the most important parts of the Ciradyl in terms of ship transports; it was also the place where industrial material came from other continents while simultaneously being the tourist spot for its beautiful beach, which Mo Fei decided not to visit today.
In a while he reached the Victoria City and waited for the ship to arrive while keeping his persona as Murphy Law.
’That ritual...’ He pondered as he recalled the memory of the ritual for the grey fog of mysteries, even though now he could feel it sometimes, but mostly only the divine mist interfered. Moreover, he still didn’t know who Primordial Perfect was; were they above the standard Ordinals?
He shook his head, changing his thoughts for now. The clown artifact was now safely under the control of Great Lady Limina’s church, but knowing that another war between churches were common here, made him slightly to be more cautious of things.
Finally, what felt like eternity, the ship arrived.
Just as the door opened, the first thing he noticed was the immense spiritual presence of an Authority that resembled the true God who had gazed at him. His expression immediately tensed up as he pulled himself together and looked ahead at the ship.
Out of all the crowd, one man stood out from all of them. He was a brown man who had the majestic presence of a higher being that was simply ahead of all the Authority Mo Fei had encountered before.
The man wore a blindfold to protect others from his gaze before he managed his powers as he walked out of the ship and stepped into the Ciradyl.
Murphy, however, stayed away from him. Although he couldn’t stay away as the man approached him, Mo Fei’s mind screamed as he understood the unusual presence.
The man simply gave him a bow and asked in a deep, archaic voice whose accent seemed entirely different. "Can I know the current location of Lakeview Institution of Arts?"
Mo Fei’s expression turned surprised inside his mind as he recontextualized Aiziq. "Why do you seek it, sir?"
Aiziq tilted his head slightly, keeping his polite tone. "I’m a professor in that university, a retired man in particular."
Hearing his words, Murphy read through the man’s whole body, who seemed like he was in his early thirties or at least late twenties. "You don’t seem old to be retired."
"Precisely, I only left the university for some personal reasons, so may I know now?"
Murphy knew the location since he had traveled too much and had known different places of Ciradyl, as he finally answered. "Nearby the Cultural Department in the central Ciradyl. You may find the location there in Manela Street."
Aiziq nodded before walking away from him, leaving Murphy confused. Finally, he noticed another man in between the crowds whose features resembled Silas as he stepped toward him.
Murphy put a hand on his shoulder and Silas quickly turned toward Murphy, believing that he had been caught by the people who he had stolen the artifact from.
Seeing a stranger behind, Silas asked. "Who are you?"
"I have been told to find you."
