A Sect from a Spirit Vein
Chapter 610 - 484: Jade Flood Dragon (Part 2)
Chapter 610: Chapter 484: Jade Flood Dragon (Part 2)
At least for the past thirteen years, Lu Qian has not found anything unusual about Shen Jialuo, and thus considered her an ally. Except for some core secrets, the Yunshan Sect’s other operational mechanisms were not hidden from her, and she learned a lot from them, progressing rapidly.
Over the years, spending days and nights together, except for Wang Yu who was still very vigilant, everyone had accepted Shen Jialuo’s presence and regarded her as one of their own. Even the disciples of Yunshan Sect quite liked this graceful and elegant Foundation Establishment Feather Scholar and directly called her "Elder Shen," a title Shen Jialuo accepted with ease.
Seeing a few people talking in riddles, Zhuang Hui asked puzzled, "Sect Leader Lu, what’s wrong?"
"The internal mountainsides of Hidden Dragon Stream are full of winding stone paths, almost like a maze inside a mountain’s belly," Lu Qian said in a deep voice. "Such terrain is so advantageous for defense. If ordinary cultivators attack this place, they would immediately get lost, dying without knowing how they died."
"In the past, even Master Fengfeng attacked Hidden Dragon Stream with no success, showing just how difficult it is to invade."
"But now, these Human-Snake Monsters have abandoned their advantageous positions to directly engage in battle with the cultivator army outside. Why is this?"
Zhuang Hui understood and, after glancing at the field a few times, speculated, "But seeing them fight so fiercely, it doesn’t seem fake. Either these monsters lack brains, are impulsively bloodthirsty, and therefore initiated the attack on their own?"
Jiang Qingfeng’s eyes lit up and guessed, "Could it be that there’s some secret in the mountain’s belly that outsiders can’t see, which is why they’re desperately trying to keep the enemy outside?"
Lu Qian smiled and nodded, "Sister’s guess is not unreasonable. In any case, things are a bit odd, so we should remain vigilant and respond with calm."
While speaking, there was a loud boom in the field, and a Floating Battleship belched black smoke, spiraling downward.
It turned out these Human-Snake Monsters found the attacks of Mingyu Sword Sect’s cultivators too fierce to approach and suddenly changed their attack strategy, flashing onto the underside of the Floating Battleships to wreak havoc. In just a few bouts of venom, the ships’ hulls began eroding continuously.
The Floatingships’ undersides were crowded with the Human-Snake Monsters, being dragged downwards.
The cultivators quickly mounted their Flying Spiritual Artifacts and detached from the Floating Battleships, trying to slay the monsters clinging to the ship’s underside. However, the monsters’ flying advantage became even more apparent, screaming fearlessly and lunging forward despite the attacks, moving as fast as lightning, sometimes dragging several cultivators off their artifacts, causing them to fall to death into the valley below.
Or they might just use venom to create flying bombs attacking the Flying Spiritual Artifacts. If hit, and if the cultivators aboard didn’t have spare artifacts, several of them could only crash and die along with the artifacts.
"Abandon ship, abandon ship!" Cao Mo shouted, having already activated his Dao Pattern, a Flying Sword as brilliant and eye-catching as a shooting star darting back and forth. Despite the terrifyingly tough scales of the enemies ahead, he still had the upper hand.
The Qi Cultivators, while at a disadvantage, had the fights among the Foundation Establishments going relatively smoothly. Moreover, these Human-Snakes indeed had incomplete wits, lacking fear of death, yet entirely devoid of cooperation, whereas the Feather Scholars worked in perfect harmony, having already executed two Human-Snake leaders with three members suffering only minor injuries.
Under the command of the available Foundation Establishment Feather Scholars, Qi Cultivators obeyed the order to abandon ships, letting the Floating Battleships be destructed in succession, taking to the sky on Flying Artifacts to regroup in formation.
The Human-Snake Monsters surged forward only to be thwarted by the dazzling Sword Light at the formation boundary, unable to approach, falling one by one to the crisscrossing Sword Qi slicing through the firmament.
Facing this unfamiliar enemy, although suffering minor losses at first, their fighting spirit surged, quickly adjusting and regaining dominance. A sect with a centuries-long legacy like the Golden Core Major Sect indeed had a thick foundation.
In Lu Qian’s heart, he silently praised. Currently, the Yunshan Sect governs seventy-two counties directly, unveiling over thirty Spirit Seeds annually. Over the years, the Yunshan Sect’s disciple count reached seven hundred, though half were still greenhorn recruits, with inadequate cultivation, considerably lacking compared to established Golden Core Sects.
Thankfully, the sect had long realized this issue, adjusting the distribution of sect missions, encouraging disciples to train outside extensively, and even deploying them as elite squads to support the combat missions of two allies.
The fierce slaughter over Hidden Dragon Stream continued, with monster and cultivator corpses cascading continuously, and blood spraying the firmament like a blood rain pouring over the Hidden Dragon Stream.
The Stream Water turned entirely scarlet, with dense layers of blood coating the cliffs below.
With the battle ongoing, all eight of the cultivators’ Floating Battleships crashed, with a third of the four hundred Qi Cultivation Elites fallen, leaving one of the six Foundation Establishments heavily injured and two lightly hurt.
Meanwhile, over half of the Human-Snake Monsters at the Qi Cultivation Level perished, with three of the six leaders slain, the remaining three bearing injuries.
The human cultivators had largely gained the upper hand and could soon dominate the battlefield entirely.
Yet Lu Qian’s uneasy premonition grew more intense. They fought so far, yet did not see Ji Yunrou, the main threat. Where was she? What had happened within Hidden Dragon Stream?
Suddenly, Lu Qian’s Divine Sense quivered.
The water of the Stream, now turned red, exploded with a clap of thunder, sending waves soaring a hundred yards high!
A roar reverberated through the valley, as the waves violently shattered, a white silhouette snaking through the air, snapping fiercely at the incoming Sword Light, then vanishing, devouring a Foundation Establishment Feather Scholar along with the Defensive Spiritual Artifact!
Screams and the sound of chewing rang concurrently, immensely boosting the spirits of the Human-Snake Monsters, their cries resonating loudly, while the human cultivators widened their eyes in terror.
This was due to the frightening pressure of Golden Core emanating from the white silhouette!
A great Flood Dragon thirty yards long, covered with pale scales and exuding an eerie aura, was spiraling and dancing in the air. Its head bore a horn twisted into a spiral, and two withered claws protruded from its forebody, looking comically small compared to its long body.
Yet, regardless, having a horn and claws meant it was no longer a python but a Golden Core Level Two-Clawed Flood Dragon!
No sooner had everyone tried to discern clearly than the great Flood Dragon whirled itself into the cultivator formations. Sword Qi from the Qi Cultivators, slicing away, only left shallow marks on its scales.
The Flood Dragon bellowed, the horn on its head radiating with a dazzling white light, shooting out pallid arcs of lightning in all directions, the white Thunder Light flashing a web across the cultiator ranks!
Amidst screams, swathes of cultivators fell from the sky like swathes of wheat being harvested.
Cao Mo shouted, lunging forward with Sword Light alongside two Foundation Establishments to intercept, their Sword Qi like columns sweeping horizontally and vertically, shattering the Flood Dragon’s scales and splattering blood, bringing forth a roar of pain.
The Deceitful Bomb suddenly condensed into a beam from thousands of Thunder Rays, shooting out, instantly blowing apart a Feather Scholar’s Defensive Spiritual Artifact, leaving him scorched like a charred corpse.
Lu Qian’s heart clenched. After allying with the Mingyu Sword Sect, he had heard rumors of a massive python hidden within Hidden Dragon Stream, nearing transformation, also called Jade Flood Dragon.
Was this the Jade Flood Dragon before him? But it differed greatly from the rumors describing it as bearing an inherent Charm Illusion Technique, beautiful and divine.
Had it already crossed the Celestial Tribulation, successfully transforming? But passing such a significant ordeal would surely cause a commotion for miles around. How could there be no rumors?
Furthermore, within Lu Qian’s formidable Divine Sense, the Flood Dragon’s aura felt abnormal, fluctuating weakly, flickering on and off, differing from a regular Golden Core.
At this time, witnessing the situation taking a drastic turn, having evaluated they could no longer resist, Cao Mo didn’t pretend anymore, yelling, "Sect Leader Lu, please come to our aid!"
Lu Qian flew up gracefully with six Feather Scholars, shooting into the fray as swiftly as lightning.
"Alright, let me subdue this Flood Dragon!"
With the appearance of the Flood Dragon, the Stream Water continued to rise, now reaching halfway up the mountainside, swallowing all the blood entirely.
Unnoticed by anyone, deep underwater, the blood of cultivators and Human-Snakes mingled and seeped into the mountain’s fissures.
At the core of the Hidden Dragon Stream mountainside lay a vast chamber—once home to the Divine Flood Dragon Sect’s grand hall—which had been excavated into a colossal pit of over fifty yards in circumference.
Filled with rancid, viscous blood, trickles still flowed into the pit.
In the center of the blood pool, bubbles occasionally surfaced amidst the silence until, with a sudden splash, a beautiful, seductive woman emerged from the blood, releasing a moan of delight.
"Success is near, it’s almost complete... Return, master."
"Overturning Ocean Real Dragon Celestial Monarch!"
