Chapter 486: Chapter 436: Immortal Temple (Part 3)
The two Golden Core cultivators looked at the temple with tightly closed doors, their spiritual power already activated.
Offering people as sacrifices, what does this temple enshrine?
Master Cangfeng nodded at Ye Xiao, then inflated his chest and gently blew out a breath.
In an instant, even Lu Qian, dozens of feet away, felt a sharp, bone-piercing chill.
Mingyu Sword Form: No Edge!
The mist-like vapor, neither truly mist nor cloud, flashed by swiftly, and the two doors of the temple instantly turned to powder.
The temple was silent and still, without any noise.
The two Golden Core cultivators stood at the door for a while, and after a brief discussion, Ye Xiao protected her body with a radiant treasure light and slowly walked inside.
She took a step, paused, took another step, and paused again, being cautious, but until she went deep into the temple, nothing happened.
She whispered, "Fellow Daoist Li, no anomalies. Come have a look at this, do you recognize it?"
Master Cangfeng also walked in, and both of their figures entered the temple.
Lu Qian, Yan Beixing, and the burly man waited for a tea’s time, but did not see the two Golden Core cultivators emerge. Fortunately, their quiet discussion continued, at least proving nothing went wrong.
"Lu Qian." Master Cangfeng’s voice came up, "No danger, come have a look, help identify this."
Lu Qian responded, unleashed his divine sense, and flew low with escape light, avoiding touching the ground. The Golden Lion Treasure Mirror hovered above his head, his body enveloped by the glow of the Five Elements Grand Array.
Passing by the blood-stained altar and the square tripod filled with human bones, a chill rose in his heart, making him even more cautious in defense.
Upon reaching the temple entrance, his divine sense swept in; the two Zhenrens stood inside, and before them was a statue as tall as a person.
Beyond that, there was nothing else in the temple.
Master Cangfeng waved him over: "Don’t be afraid, come see this, you’re knowledgeable, might recognize it?"
Lu Qian first scanned the statue with his divine sense, but could not discern its material, effectively blocking divine sense, requiring personal confirmation.
He walked behind the two Golden Core cultivators carefully and found the statue depicted a young immortal clad in flowing white robes, with immortal Qi drifting mystically, lifelike and vivid.
Especially with the immortal’s eyes, resembling a real person, making one feel as though the immortal was staring with a half-smile.
Lu Qian felt an even deeper chill, unwilling to look long, and shifted his gaze downward to the statue’s base, where several lines of ancient text were inscribed.
It turned out Master Cangfeng and Ye Xiao were discussing the text’s meaning.
Millennia passed, even the text was much simplified; this was ancient seal script, neither one fully recognized it.
But Lu Qian did recognize it; within the Profound Monarch’s Collection, there were teachings on ancient and modern texts, and many ancient texts written in classical script, so Lu Qian learned some, unexpectedly finding them useful here.
After a moment of study, Lu Qian solemnly read aloud: "Miao Fa Celestial Monarch of Merciful Propagation."
"Receive my decree, the three calamities shall not approach."
"Embrace my method, a thousand tribulations shall not invade."
Ye Xiao exclaimed, eyes widening: "It’s him!"
Master Cangfeng also reacted in surprise: "The Seventh Celestial Monarch! Weren’t the temples of the Ten Celestial Monarchs all destroyed in the True Immortal Calamity?"
Lu Qian’s heart sank; he had heard of the Ten Celestial Monarchs’ fame from the collection.
Since this realm’s inception, the first ten immortals to ascend!
Below were two more lines, and upon seeing them clearly, his heart pounded like a drum!
Word by word, Lu Qian pronounced them aloud.
"Offer your flesh and blood, together ascend to bliss."
"Sacrifice your divine soul, together embark to the Immortal Court."
Suddenly, they heard a choking sound from outside the door, followed by the rumbling of blocked airways!
They turned abruptly and saw at the Tier Three Altar, before the bronze square tripod, Yan Beixing and the burly man had kneeled there at some point.
Both clenched a sharp tool in hand, the burly man’s face wore a strange smile, having slit his own throat, blood gushing forth!
