194: Your Expression Looks So Weird~
Time rewound to several dozen minutes prior.
By this point, the second round of combat between Jasmine and Zophi had reached a white-hot stage. The pitch-black greatsword and the scarlet spear clashed and intertwined in the air. Nearly every collision whipped up a gale of magic sharp enough to shear through steel reinforcement.
Evelia crouched on the surface of the sea not far from the two of them, watching the battle with a tense expression.
From time to time, she would look down to check on Amya and Lina, but neither of them showed the slightest sign of waking up.
"Lina is one thing, but Amya, you're an angel for crying out loud. Could you at least be a little reliable? How are you still asleep?"
Because the [Genesis] targeting Evelia had been blocked by some special power, she was unaware that those struck by [Genesis] would fall into a bizarre illusion indistinguishable from reality. However, judging by the fact that Amya, with her angelic constitution, was still slumbering, the divine miracle Zophi had just unleashed was certainly not as simple as just sealing the Domain space.
—If you don't wake up soon, Jasmine really won't be able to hold on!
Evelia looked toward Jasmine not far away with a hint of worry. Although she had previously survived Zophi's lethal slash thanks to her phase transition invincibility (or so Evelia guessed), with her combat experience, even with the boost from Death Magic, a special system of magic, she was still struggling to gain any advantage against Zophi.
Zophi Gregory. Up until now, this guy had maintained an air of casual indifference. Aside from briefly changing his expression when she summoned Uncle Beelzebub's avatar earlier, he seemed to be treating this fight like child's play.
Most crucially, the battle had been going on for so long, yet the magical aura radiating from him showed no sign of weakening!
Keep in mind, before this, he had successively unleashed a magical [Domain] and a [Divine Miracle]! As for the Spear of Destiny [Longinus], even as merely a projection of the genuine article, the Holy Spear was ultimately the Holy Spear. The magic power required to wield it was certainly no small amount.
Setting everything else aside, among everyone present, probably only Evelia herself, a large "storage tank" with nothing but raw magic power, and Jasmine, who wielded dual magics, could handle this level of consumption.
And even then, they could only "handle" it.
Yet Zophi... his internal magic power seemed inexhaustible, showing no sign of diminishing!
This guy was a true (Hell profanity) monster!
Based on magic capacity alone, he had definitely reached the level of a Hell Lord in Hell, or perhaps even higher!
In terms of the Angel lineage, that would be the level of a Six-winged Angel!
And one step above that level... would be the tier of her uncles and aunts (the Seven Demon Kings) and the Four Great Archangels among the angels...
And this was just Zophi wielding the Holy Spear projection. It was hard to imagine the level of strength Zophi at his peak, wielding the true Spear of Destiny, would possess.
Achieving such a realm with a human body... no wonder this guy was once called the pinnacle of an era.
Evelia observed the battle nervously. Jasmine was already showing signs of fatigue. Even as the existence closest to a Perfect Vessel, using Death Magic at such high intensity for so long would take a severe toll on her body.
As for Zophi, the man still wore that relaxed look on his face, even attacking with a single hand every time he swung his spear.
—What to do!? If this continues, Jasmine's defeat is only a matter of time. When that happens, I'll be the only one left to face Zophi...
—This is really bad... The sealing effect of that [Genesis] is still active, so I can't summon the Seven Lords' avatars to fight like usual. The only thing I can use is that final Life-bound Summoning Technique.
But given the combat power Zophi has displayed... Evelia knew clearly that even if she played this trump card, the most it could do was stall him for a while.
Damn it! If only I could learn normal magic too...
Facing such a situation, Evelia couldn't help but feel resentful again about her defect of being unable to learn conventional magic. With her magic reserves and magical talent, if she could learn magic normally, her strength would definitely be no less than Jasmine's.
But the problem was, falling from grace and becoming a demon had granted her a terrifying total amount of magic power, but correspondingly, this physique, weaker than even an elf's, had destined her to be unable to learn any magical system other than Summoning Magic... at least, that was how her old dad explained it.
"What should I do..."
Just as Evelia lowered her head, racking her brains for a way to break the stalemate, a meteor-like impact suddenly landed beside her. Startled, Evelia hurriedly turned around, only to discover that this sudden "meteor" was actually Jasmine, sent flying by a spear strike from Zophi!
"Cough, cough..."
Jasmine coughed twice, struggling to stabilize her form with the Pitch-Black Sword in her hand, forcing herself not to collapse.
"Miss Jasmine!"
Evelia's heart trembled. Was Jasmine finally unable to hold on?
"You rest for a bit. Although my own combat ability isn't strong, stalling Zophi for a while is still doable..."
"No, I can still... cough, cough!"
Before Jasmine could finish speaking, she broke into another violent coughing fit. Seeing this, Evelia didn't know what to say to her either. This girl really was just as Lina said; she wouldn't turn back until she hit the wall...
But just then, a somewhat drowsy voice rang out, instantly lifting Evelia's spirits.
"Mm-hmm? Eve-Eve is right~ Miss Jasmine, you really should rest a bit first in your condition~"
"Amya!"
Evelia turned her head in surprise. Amya was sitting up from the ground with sleepy eyes, casually stretching her body.
"Sorry, Eve-Eve. That illusion was a bit too realistic. It did take me some effort to get out..."
"Illusion?"
"Yeah, Zophi's divine miracle? What was it called... Genesis, I think? Anyway, after getting hit by that move, I somehow ended up in an illusion that was practically indistinguishable from reality. It took a little work to get out of there..."
Amya blinked somewhat doubtfully and asked in return, "Why? Did Eve-Eve not get pulled into the illusion?"
"I... didn't!" Evelia also found it very baffling. "I just blanked out for a moment, and then I was awake again..."
"Tsk, is that so..."
"What's wrong, Amya? Your expression looks so weird... Did you see something in that illusion?"
Hearing this, Amya's face instantly flushed red. She hurriedly turned her head away and repeatedly denied, "What weird expression? I'm perfectly normal, okay!?"
Of course, Amya couldn't admit it. After all, the plot of her illusion... really wasn't something she could easily speak of...
She couldn't exactly tell Evelia directly that she had dreamt of Evelia back when she was still a boy, and that she had gathered the courage to confess to him, right...?
