Mira watched in silent disbelief as the thick, pearlescent liquid coated the fruit on her mother’s plate.

She had expected her brother to share his attention, but seeing him bestow such an intimate gift exclusively upon their mother ignited a sharp, jealous spike of anger in her chest.

Just as Kael began to settle, feeling the heavy, pleasant exhaustion that followed his release, he felt a sharp poke at his knee.

He looked down to see Mira pushing her own empty plate toward him, her eyes burning with a clear, resentful glare. Kael blinked, momentarily confused by the sudden shift in atmosphere, until he followed her gaze.

She was staring at her mother’s fruit-laden plate with a hungry, possessive longing that made the situation click instantly in his mind.

He let out a soft sigh and took her plate from her hands.

He gave himself a few more firm, rhythmic tugs to coax out the last remaining reserves of his seed, squeezing a few fresh, viscous drops onto her fruit.

He handed the plate back to her, expecting her to be satisfied, but when he looked down, her expression had only soured further.

She looked even more annoyed than before, her jaw tight and her eyes flashing. Kael could only offer her a wry, lopsided smile; he had clearly underestimated how much she craved not just his fluid, but his absolute and equal attention.

He sat back, wondering how he was going to balance these escalating demands as the day went on.

Amber watched the antics of both her children from the side, a playful glint in her eyes. "Looks like my little girl really wants to see what her brother tastes like, huh?"

Watching Amber laugh made Mira blush a deep, beet-red. She could only point a blaming, frustrated gaze at Kael.

"No use blaming your brother, Mira. He won’t be able to produce any more for at least half a day," Amber teased.

"Come here, bring your plate to me; I’ll share it with you."

Mira was delighted to hear that and hurried over, doing exactly as her mother told her. Amber carefully tilted her plate over Mira’s, allowing the extra load Kael had deposited to slide directly onto Mira’s portion of the fruit.

Kael sat back, eating his own share of the virgoa while he watched his mother and sister consume the cum-soaked fruit with genuine hunger.

The rest of the day at the house remained relatively quiet. Kael had to put in extra labor to cut back the thick, rapid overgrowth of grass in the garden—a persistent side effect of his surging, volatile mana. Meanwhile, Mira spent the afternoon helping Amber with her pottery work.

As evening settled in and the house grew dim, the atmosphere shifted. Kael went for a long walk to clear his head and continue his mana circulation practice, trying to find a balance for the new power bubbling beneath his skin.

When he finally returned to the house, silence had claimed every room. The house was empty of any other presence, leaving only the quiet comfort of his home.

Kael checked on Mira and found her sound asleep, her breathing deep and even. Satisfied, he returned to his own room.

He pushed himself through multiple cycles of mana circulation, focusing intensely on his internal flow until exhaustion finally overcame him, dragging him into a heavy slumber.

The next morning, he realized the sun was already high in the sky. He was jolted awake by Amber’s persistent calling from the hall.

"Coming, Mom!" he shouted back, quickly climbing out of bed.

After a brisk wash to shake off the grogginess, he stepped into the main room, where he found Mira and Amber already deep in conversation.

"Kael, I’ve prepared your breakfast," Amber said, turning to him with a smile. "Eat up, because both of you need to head over to Ruby’s place today."

Kael stepped outside for his morning routine first. He performed his exercises and spent time meditating, carefully sensing the mana that surrounded him on all sides.

This time, he was disciplined; he made sure not to get lost in the intoxicating rush of the energy, maintaining a firm grip on his focus.

He returned to the house to finish his meal.

Since Mira had already finished her own, they both walked over to Amber, exchanged goodbye kisses, and headed out the door to start their journey to Ruby’s.

After they had walked a fair distance from the house, Mira broke the silence. "Stupid brother, I know it was you who did that to the grass in the garden yesterday."

Kael stopped in his tracks, stunned. He had been so sure that his attempts to deflect her suspicions had worked, but somehow, she had figured it out.

He stood there silently, unsure of how to navigate the shift in their dynamic, until Mira spoke again.

"No need to try to deny it," she continued, her voice lower. "I could feel the same strange energy surrounding you this morning—the exact same sensation I felt radiating from the grass yesterday."

Realizing there was no point in hiding it anymore, Kael sighed, his posture relaxing. "So, what do you want to say, little sister?" he asked, catching the hesitation in her tone. "I can see you’re struggling to ask me something."

Mira bit her lip, looking around to ensure they were truly alone before she looked him in the eyes. "Don’t take this the wrong way, Brother," she began, her expression a mix of concern and bewilderment.

"But did you hit your head? Do you not realize what it means to be born with mana control like this before even going through the proper baptism ceremony?"

Kael looked at her, his mind racing. He knew the baptism was supposed to be the gatekeeper for such abilities, but his own experience had bypassed it entirely.

"I’m starting to realize it’s a bigger deal than I thought," he admitted slowly.

The weight of Mira’s words settled heavily on Kael. As she spoke, the fragments of his past life’s memories—or perhaps the echoes of the world he now inhabited—clicked into place.

He realized that being born with an innate ability to control mana wasn’t just a "gift"; in a place like Korua, it was a death sentence.

"You would have had a very bright future if you had been born into a powerful noble house or had connections to the royal court," Mira said, her voice laced with genuine, painful disappointment. "But alas, we are just a mid-income family in a distant, forgotten town."

She clearly saw the tragedy of his potential being stifled. To her, without the resources to send him to the capital for formal training, his talent was a locked treasure chest—one that would only bring trouble if anyone ever managed to pick the lock.

Kael now understood the gravity of her fear: he had to hide his abilities, or his blessing would inevitably turn into a disaster.

As they walked, Kael’s mind processed the surge of recovered memories. He recalled that the "prodigies" born with natural mana control were legendary, but legends were rarely treated kindly in this world.

There had never been such a case in Korua, and history books—or perhaps the hushed rumors of the town elders—told a grim story for those who surfaced elsewhere.

Those who showed such talent were quickly harvested. The royal court had a ravenous appetite for potential weapons, and the nobles were equally ruthless in their poaching.

Families who refused to hand over their children were frequently met with swift, brutal ends—massacred in their homes, or worse, simply vanished into the night, leaving no trace.

Everyone knew the royal court was the hand behind these disappearances, but in a world where power dictated truth, speaking up was a luxury no one in Korua could afford.

Kael looked down at his hands, which were perfectly capable of manipulating the life force of the earth, and felt a cold chill run down his spine. He wasn’t just a boy with a talent anymore; he was a target.
