A Loose Cultivator's Path to Longevity
Chapter 667: Feng Hex
Chapter 667: Chapter 364: Feng Hex
Lü Zhong continued to track the Cow Demon.
During this time, he also discovered the tracks of other Demon Cultivators. There were three in total: one at Mid-stage Transformation and two at Early-stage Transformation.
Deploying so many Transformed Demon Cultivators at once meant they had sent out at least half their forces. With such a grand move, they were likely trying to crush the Human Race’s morale again.
The Demon Cultivators were using a Spiritual Eagle to communicate with each other.
The Spiritual Eagle soared high in the sky. Even when Lü Zhong used his Celestial Net Eye, it was difficult to spot without a careful search and could be easily missed.
The three Demon Cultivators trailed the Cow Demon from a distance of about a hundred breaths’ flight time. They probably believed the Cow Demon could hold out at least that long, long enough for support to arrive.
This discovery was a pleasant surprise for Lü Zhong.
It further solidified his earlier idea.
As for what Protective Item the Cow Demon carried…
He could tell at a glance with the help of his Gray Mist Space.
The result was quite unexpected. The Cow Demon actually had a Turtle Shell Shield, the equivalent of a cultivator’s Defensive Treasure. On top of that, its hide was tough and its flesh thick; an ordinary cultivator would have a hard time taking it down.
For Lü Zhong, however, it would be as easy as flipping his hand.
This put him on guard.
If the bait was this tempting, then the hunter who set the trap must be extremely dangerous.
But then, Lü Zhong grew puzzled. Through his scene regression ability, he saw that one of the three Demon Cultivators tailing the Cow Demon had suddenly left the group.
Stunned for a moment, Lü Zhong suddenly realized this was an opportunity.
Although he didn’t know why this Demon Cultivator had suddenly broken away, hunting it was clearly less difficult than taking the delicious bait.
A surprise attack, launched when they least expected it, might even yield an unexpected reward.
Thinking this, Lü Zhong made his decision.
Just in case, he sent out an Incarnation, ordering it to use Stealth and tail the Cow Demon. Whether it was discovered or not, it would serve as a distraction. If the Incarnation could alert the Demon Cultivators before his real body made a move, it would also serve as a feint.
Then, he split his forces.
Lü Zhong crept toward the Demon Cultivator, keeping his distance as he tailed it.
Gradually, thick, leaden clouds covered the round moon, and raindrops began to fall. At first, it was just a drizzle, but it soon became a torrential downpour.
After a while more, it turned into a full-blown thunderstorm.
This harsh weather was, conversely, better for concealing his tracks.
After following for some time, Lü Zhong couldn’t help but wonder, ‘What on earth is this rogue Demon Cultivator up to?’ Judging from his Celestial Net Eye’s observation, it was a transformed Wolf Demon. It was now moving farther and farther from its group, already a quarter-hour’s journey away.
‘No use overthinking it. I’ll just kill it!’
Despite this thought, he still made thorough preparations.
The Demon Court was full of schemes; he couldn’t afford to be careless.
He followed it to the ruins of a village, where the Demon Cultivator stopped before a dry well. It glanced left and right, sniffed the air, and jumped straight in.
Seeing this, Lü Zhong knew his chance had come.
He glanced at the Spiritual Eagle in the sky. After the downpour began, it had been forced to lower its altitude and was now circling above the ruins, as if waiting for something.
‘Just wait. I’ll kill you first!’
Lü Zhong then contacted his Incarnation and had it make the first move to draw attention.
He waited patiently. About three breaths later, an extremely piercing eagle’s cry came from overhead. A moment after that, a rustling sound was heard, and the Demon Cultivator who had gone down the well climbed out, covered in mud and holding something in its mouth—it was a Spirit Medicine of a very high grade.
Seeing this, Lü Zhong moved. The Star Mirror suddenly appeared above his head. He aimed it at the circling Spiritual Eagle, and as flashes of lightning sparked across the mirror’s silver surface, a brilliant blue pillar of light shot out.
Then, with a flash of lightning, he vanished from the spot.
In the blink of an eye, Lü Zhong reappeared behind the Demon Cultivator. The latter’s expression changed, and it instinctively flashed its sharp claws, swiping backward with a dull CLANG.
After the single strike, the two figures crossed paths and separated.
Bai Hen felt his left claw go numb. Lü Zhong’s sword strike just now had been heavy and powerful, making him feel as if he had been slapped by a Flood Dragon. Even the circulation of his qi and blood felt sluggish.
‘Oh no, it’s the Star Sun Old Demon! How did he end up here?’ Bai Hen recognized Lü Zhong at a glance. The image of the black-haired, black-robed young man was deeply ingrained in their minds.
Connecting this to the Spiritual Eagle’s warning cry from moments before, his expression turned grim.
‘A feint!’
Bai Hen couldn’t help but feel a pang of regret. He shouldn’t have left the group on his own for a mere Spirit Medicine.
And now look what happened. He was face-to-face with a ruthless one.
In the instant Bai Hen was stunned, Lü Zhong had already condensed the Thunderous Spear and activated all his Magical Treasures, fully intending to slay the Demon Cultivator here with lightning speed.
The two clashed again.
Bai Hen didn’t dare to meet him head-on. His only thought was to stall for as long as possible.
If he could just hold out until the other three demons arrived, then no matter how skilled the Star Sun Old Demon was, he would never dare to face a siege by four Demon Cultivators.
RUMBLE!
In a clash between Nascent Soul Level experts, the aftershocks alone could drastically alter the terrain.
A slender claw gleam was deflected, landing unexpectedly in a hundred-acre lake. The astonishing Demon Power it contained exploded, instantly causing a massive blast. The entire lake’s water, along with ten feet of mud from the bottom, was thrown into the air, creating a pillar of filthy water hundreds of feet high.
CLANG! CLANG! CLANG! The sounds of striking metal were incessant.
Lü Zhong continued his relentless close-quarters assault. After successively slicing off four of Bai Hen’s claws, his Sword Light and Sword Qi rained down on the demon’s body, constantly wearing away the layer of Demon Qi on its surface.
Just then, his connection to the Incarnation was abruptly severed.
A brilliant flash of light shone from the northwest.
