Chapter 1448: Chapter 1438: Resolution
Near this alley, the surroundings were quiet, and Jiang Jingheng and Jorge’s voices came from the recording pen.
Mu Yan clenched her hands tightly, maintaining her previous posture, not daring to look at Jiang Jingheng’s eyes. She feared seeing any panic in his expression, which would confirm the authenticity of the recording.
Suddenly, the sound stopped abruptly, and the recorder was turned off by someone.
Jiang Jingheng remained silent, but Mu Yan couldn’t hold back anymore.
She turned her head to look at him and asked, "Do you have anything to say?"
Jiang Jingheng looked at her, "Who sent this to you?"
"Is that important?" Mu Yan retorted. "Tell me, is that your voice on it?"
Jiang Jingheng said directly, "It’s me."
Mu Yan laughed bitterly, "So, Mu Chen died on the operating table because you and Jorge planned a murder?"
"It wasn’t murder."
After holding back her anger all night, Mu Yan could no longer restrain herself. She yelled, "Then what was it, clearing obstacles? Jiang Jingheng, that’s my brother, a living person. How can you be so heartless?"
As she spoke, tears rolled down her eyes.
Jiang Jingheng raised his hand to try to wipe her eyes, but she avoided him.
"Don’t touch me," Mu Yan said coldly.
Jiang Jingheng looked at her cold profile, his hand hovering in the air for a moment before dropping down. He said quietly, "I was wrong about this."
Wrong, this matter isn’t just wrong? How can he still appear so indifferent?
In his eyes, what is actually important?
Her?
Suddenly, she felt it was ironic and questioned, "When you did such a cruel thing, did you consider my feelings? What do you take me for? Your private property, your forbidden indulgence? Who gave you the right?"
The night was so deep that Jiang Jingheng’s complexion couldn’t be seen. He lowered his head, silent, like a child who had done wrong.
The more he acted like this, the angrier Mu Yan became inside.
"Speak up, explain yourself," she suddenly shouted at him, her hands pounding on his chest.
Jiang Jingheng didn’t resist nor speak.
Mu Yan gritted her teeth, tears falling even more fiercely. Silence equaled acquiescence. She desperately hoped he would tell her it wasn’t the case.
She thought about his illness and his strong sense of possession, having to give up the last bit of struggle.
Suddenly, she backed away, choking up as she said, "I can’t forgive someone who caused my brother’s death."
Jiang Jingheng suddenly looked up at her, streetlight shining on the fear in his eyes.
His voice trembled slightly, making a final plea, "Yanyan, don’t."
Mu Yan found it laughable, "When you did that, didn’t you ever consider the consequences of me finding out the truth? It’s fair, you made me lose my brother, so I will make you lose the person most important to you."
She paused, then sarcastically said, "No, I’m not the person most important to you. The one you love the most is only yourself. If possible, I really wish I never met you."
Jiang Jingheng took a step forward, speaking lowly, "Yanyan, don’t say things like that."
"Stay back!" Mu Yan shouted coldly.
Seeing her emotional state, Jiang Jingheng didn’t dare disobey.
He asked, "I was wrong, I can do anything to make it up, don’t leave me, I can’t live without you."
Seeing his pleading eyes, Mu Yan turned her face away to wipe her tears, but they continued to fall uncontrollably.
Before, she also thought she couldn’t live without Mu Chen. Now with Mu Chen gone, isn’t she still alive?
It proves that people always underestimate their own endurance.
She looked at Jiang Jingheng and said coldly, "But I don’t want you in my life anymore."
