A God Killed Me By Accident, But I Reincarnated As The 4th Son Of The Marquis
Volume 16 Chapter 19: Giant Scotch Eggs
“Have you laid any eggs?” Keith asked the ostrich. The bird stopped eating as it waddled into its nest and brought the eggs out one by one with its beak. At the end, in Keith’s hand were 10 eggs, each one the size of a large stone!
“Amazing.” Keith placed them into his belt for later use; he turned to the farmers to tell them he was going to leave. But his lips stopped as he stared at their tears.
“Why are they so difficult with us?!”
“They always bite us!”
“Young master, this isn’t fair!”
Keith took a deep breath, “Where are my vegetables?” One farmer came back with the bags in his hand.
“Thank you.” Placing them into his belt, it was time to leave. He had to return home before the little ones woke up.
“Young Master, wait!” One farmer called out before asking, “Do you have a way to grow back hair?” The other farmers looked at him with a glimmer of hope: their young master was a miracle worker; knowing him, he should have a method to recover hair!
“Ahh, how about a wig?” Most people use that to cover their baldness. In that moment, the farmers dropped to their knees in defeat!
Logan waved, “When you have time, please bring the little ones here to play.”
“Alright!” Keith laughed as he returned home and headed to the kitchen.
“Boss.”
“Ahh, Gus, nothing happened while I was gone?”
“Mmhmm, the little ones are still asleep.”
“Thank you.” Keith smiled as he rolled up his sleeves, “Now, what should I make today?” While he thought about the recipe, the eggs appeared on the table, “Let’s try some eggs. Gus, have you tasted them?” The ostrich egg was the main star today.
“I have. The white is the same as that of any egg. However, the yolk is different. Even if you overcook the egg, the yolk remains oozy.”
“Oozy?”
Keith took a knife and cracked the egg into the pan; it reacted the same as a normal chicken egg. Placing the sunny-side-up egg on the table, he tasted the white portion first. Normal. The flavor profile was the same. As he poked the yolk portion,
“Oh, you’re right, it’s runny.” The yolk dripped out of the hole he made; it was a thick and custard-like consistency. This was odd since Keith purposefully overcooked it. Does it have a protective layer as it cooks? Tasting the yolk, an overwhelming taste of chicken filled his mouth. Delicious. Hmm, if the yolk is like this, I can make that for breakfast.
“Gus, please boil the eggs.”
“On it.” As the water boiled, Keith brought out some lean meat and a couple of fatty bits. He placed them into a wind sphere and shredded them until they turned into paste.
“That’s a lot of ground meat.”
“Haha, and everyone can finish it.” This amount of meat was nothing to his family; it was a light snack for their gluttonous stomachs!
“Yes, they can.” Gus shivered; he saw their stomachs in action.
“Papa?” Keith turned to the door to see Eri rub her eyes as she waddled over.
Keith patted her head, “Good morning, Eri.”
“Make?”
“I’m making some scotch eggs.”
“Eggs?” Eri glanced over to see Gus holding a giant egg.
“Boss, so this is your daughter.”
“Mmhmm.” Keith washed his hands and picked her up, “Eri, this here is Gus. Say hello.”
“Hello,” Eri shyly waved her hand.
“Hello, young child.” Gus nodded, “Are you hungry?”
“No,” Eri shook her head. Keith smiled, “Do you want to help make breakfast?”
“Big brother.” Before she answered, Leon and Laura entered. Keith grinned, “Come here, you two. Want to look at what breakfast I’m cooking?”
“Mmhmm.” The two little cubs glanced at the little fox; all three were still all wary of each other.
Keith smiled, “Relax, and help me mix the meat. We need a lot more.” Despite grinding a large bowl of meat, he didn’t think it was enough. Leon took the spoon as he stirred the meat,
“The three of you have the job of cracking the eggs.” Gus pulled the eggs out of the boiled water. Each one was the size of their little heads. Handing them one each, “Use a spoon to crack them.”
“Mmhmm!” The three quietly broke the eggs while Keith made more meat; sprinkling the salt and pepper in, he turned to the little ones, “Good work, now it’s time to cover them with meat.” Grabbing a glob of meat paste, he began to cover them up. The little ones followed,
“Add more if you want more meat.”
“Yes!” Hearing those words, they added more. That should be the normal amount. Given their small hands, they needed to add a lot more to cover the egg normally.
“Gus—thank you.”
Working with him for years, the veteran chef understood what Keith wanted: a big tub of oil for frying. It was time for frying. Before he placed an egg in, “You three need to stay back; it’s dangerous.” The little ones crowded the stove, but they were too small: the tub was as big as them!
“Aww!” The three looked down only to make Keith chuckle. As the eggs bubbled in the oil, Keith prepared the other dishes: a salad paired nicely with fried food. While he cut a head of cabbage, another yawn entered the kitchen, “What are you prepping, Keith?” Carolyn came in with her pajamas.
“You’ll know later. Now go brush your teeth. You three as well. Wash your hands first.” He had to get them to wash after touching raw meat.
“Come now, darlings. The meanie is going to eat us,” Carolyn chuckled.
“Okay.” The three followed Carolyn.
Gus muttered, “Boss, it looks like ducklings and a mother duck.”
“Indeed,” Keith chuckled, “Back to work!” Finishing the salad, Keith glanced at the Scotch eggs. It was time to take them out: bubbly and golden-crusted eggs exited the pot and onto a table. Keith called out for the butler to bring them to the table. Keith left the kitchen to see Carolyn and the others dressed and washed up, “Come on, let’s go.”
Entering the dining room, Sophia’s eyes widened, “Son, what is that?” There was a giant, round, golden ball on top of the snow.
“Scotch eggs with rice.”
“Looks delicious.”
“Good morning, Alvin,” Keith looked at his older brother, who yawned as he sat down. Alvin nodded, “Good morning, Keith.” Then he noticed the child, “Is this my niece?”
“Mmhmm.”
“Hello, my name is Alvin. I am your papa’s brother; you can call me uncle.”
“Uncle.”
“Hey! Why does she call you uncle?!” Derek’s eyes narrowed. Alvin snorted, “Because I asked.”
“Let’s eat!” Keith quickly changed the subject before a fight broke out.
