Chapter 765: Chapter 434: Iron Dragon Envoys, Blood Relatives Reunited, Mysterious Legendary_3

This means that the kingdom’s various strategies towards the Wilderness must almost be completely redone.

Marquis Marcus sincerely does not want this scene to become reality.

It’s not just because of his personal vendetta with the Red Iron Dragon, but also for the strategic safety and interests of the kingdom he serves.

However, the plan he previously proposed in the royal council to strike with thunderous force upon the nation’s founding had been explicitly denied by His Majesty the King.

The King believes that although the Theo Kingdom is destined to neighbor this emerging Wilderness Nation, now is far from the right time to directly make an enemy or erupt into full-scale conflict.

Moreover, on this land, the forces or strongmen eager to see the downfall of the Evil Dragon’s nation are certainly not limited to Theo alone.

Observing coldly while letting other forces probe, and discerning the details and reactions of this Dragon Kingdom, is currently the most prudent and aligns best with the kingdom’s interests.

"Doesn’t this allow the Molten Iron Kingdom time to solidify its rule and grow stronger?"

"Alas... In my view, we should gather mighty forces and directly wage war while the Red Iron Dragon has just founded its nation and its foundation is most fragile and unsturdy, smothering it in the cradle."

"Even then, with his Dragon Domain background, those Metal Dragons would hardly stir trouble for a fallen Evil Dragon."

Marquis Marcus pondered thoughtfully, but ultimately could only sigh in deep helplessness.

In such major national strategies, decisions were long beyond his control.

Just then, outside the thick oak door of the study, came the faint sound of footsteps.

This rhythm was not possessed by any of his subordinates or attendants.

Shortly after, without any attendants’ announcement or permission, the door silently and smoothly opened.

Marquis Marcus turned suddenly, a flicker of offended anger crossed his face briefly, but as his sharp eyes took in the uninvited intruders, that trace of anger quickly gave way to unprecedented seriousness and vigilance.

At the doorway, stood quietly two figures cloaked in unremarkable gray capes.

Their figures were completely shrouded beneath the wide and simple cloaks, revealing not a trace of skin, making it impossible to discern their exact appearance or age, yet just standing there, they naturally exuded a heavy oppressive sense causing the air in the study, which was initially flowing, to seemingly become thick and stagnant.

Even the flames leaping in the wall-mounted fireplace seemed to dim slightly in radiance.

Legendary Powerhouses! And two of them together!

Though Marquis Marcus himself had not reached legendary status, he was a seasoned and powerful adventurer of considerable level, and thanks to his position, had interacted with more than one legendary being.

The strength of these two unexpected guests was unfathomable, far beyond his own.

He could almost confirm that they were true legendary powerhouses.

"Without announcement, forcibly entering the kingdom’s strategic stronghold... Is this not too rude, gentlemen?"

Marquis Marcus steadied his heartbeat, which had quickened slightly in shock, and asked in a deep voice, his hand already resting on the hilt of his sword, muscles subtly tense.

The slightly taller gray-cloaked figure, a low and hoarse laugh emerged from beneath the shadow of the cloak, indeterminate in age and sex.

"I apologize for our rudeness, Marquis. We come for an old matter and hope you can grant us some convenience."

Without waiting for an answer, the other gray-cloaked figure interjected: "We require all records from the battle between Kairos the Unfinished Sword and the Red Iron Dragon that year."

The voice was also obscured, as if covered by a layer of gauze, yet carried a tone akin to command.

Marquis Marcus’s pupils contracted sharply.

That battle took place about eight years ago.

Being a formal challenge, with time and place defined in advance, Marquis Marcus used his privilege to lock down the battle area with the magic satellite, recording the process of that battle, which was highly confidential.

"What do you need that for? And, who exactly are you?"

Marquis Marcus did not outright refuse nor did he agree, but asked cautiously instead, his brain racing, trying to decipher their origins and true intentions from their cryptic words.

The identity and purpose of these two were by no means simple.

The tall gray-cloaked figure let out a meaningful low laugh, speaking slowly: "Who we are and where we come from is not important now."

"What you need to know is that we are very interested in the Red Iron Dragon about to be crowned."

He paused, then continued: "And you, Marquis Marcus, if our intelligence is correct, you wouldn’t wish to see a powerful and unified Dragon Kingdom occupying the Northern Gate of the Kingdom for the long term, right?"

"Helping us is also helping yourself."

Upon hearing this, Marquis Marcus’s thoughts raced like sparks.

Handing over the kingdom’s secrets posed great risk.

However... this sudden appearance of two mysterious legends, their target being the Red Iron Dragon, might be a golden opportunity; a chance to thwart the King of Molten Iron’s nation-building process or even... provide a catalyst to completely slay that detestable Red Iron Dragon through others.

Risk and opportunity clashed fiercely within his mind.

Marquis Marcus fell silent for a moment, his eyes gradually calming.

"Indeed, as His Majesty said, there are other forces probing."

"I misjudged His Majesty, his thoughts were correct."

"I hand over the information, then watch coldly and wait for the final result. Even if it fails, it’s hard to implicate me."

Thinking so, ultimately, Marquis Marcus released the grip on his sword hilt.

Seeing this scene, the two gray-cloaked figures exchanged a glance.

The tall gray-cloaked figure let out a low laugh again: "Pleasure cooperating, Marquis, you will not regret this decision."
