Chapter 2737: Chapter 1850: Demons in Chaos

Of course, at the start, many people were accidentally killed by Demons, after all, they had previously only faced Zombies that could run and jump but lacked any rationale. Encountering such cunning enemies as Demons was a first for them, so initially, many were caught off guard and either killed or injured by Demons.

Nevertheless, Duanmu Huai had foreseen this and had already taught these Soldiers how to cope: if you can’t shoot them, then go up and hack them with a blade!

After enduring the initial wave of attacks, others quickly sprang into action, beginning to eliminate surrounding Demons while advancing toward the central square.

Technically speaking, even Low-level Demons are not opponents humans can easily counter. Demons are called Demons precisely because their Strength is always far beyond mortals. Although these Low-level Demons might not be incredibly powerful in this aspect and often serve as mere cannon fodder when facing greater beings, their combat capabilities against mortals are still quite assured.

Yet unfortunately, these Soldiers were not ordinary humans but "Believers" of the Tribunal.

After defeating the Brutal Wrath and acquiring its Strength, Duanmu Huai integrated it into his Divine Realm of the God of Destruction, which meant these Soldiers would increase the power of Duanmu Huai’s Divine Realm even when merely fighting enemies of Humanity, just like the previous Brutal Believers, and this power, in turn, strengthens the Soldiers as Tribunal Believers.

This is essentially a snowball effect: the more intense the battle, the higher the Soldiers’ attributes become. While they may not notice themselves, they can effortlessly track the eerie speedy figures of Obsessive Sin Demons and complete actions like reloading and switching blades in less than a second—this is the full-spectrum enhancement from battling Humanity’s enemies.

Incidentally, if Duanmu Huai wanted, he could inject Divine Power into these Soldiers, turning them into Monsters like Chaos Spawn. However, Duanmu Huai generally refrains from doing so since he doesn’t know what might happen if too much Divine Power is injected into them...

But speaking of the Divine Chosen Champion, Duanmu Huai does have one.

And that is...

"Blood Sacrifice War God, Skull Throne!"

Mianmu Zuoniao shouted as she landed, wielding her Sword. The radiant Sword Light swept across the battlefield, splashing blood all around. The girl’s figure dashed forward along the flying bloodline like a Ghost, the cold Sword Light easily severing the Demons’ limbs, transforming them into blood-soaked corpses.

Incidentally, that phrase was yelled by Mianmu Zuoniao herself. Probably because she was too excited from fighting Brutal Wrath in the previous world, she remembered the phrase.

Regarding this, Duanmu Huai... well, he had no issues, considering she was shouting it for herself now.

The square at the moment was a river of blood; countless Demons were more eager than Zombies as they charged towards Duanmu Huai. As expected, in front of Duanmu Huai’s swinging War Hammer, they couldn’t even resist and were smashed into pulp.

On the other side, Mary wielded her Magic Wand, the Moonlight Greatsword sweeping coldly through, freezing everything it touched into ice, which then shattered under Ogis’s entangled threads.

The Obsessive Sin Demons, unlike the Brutal Wrath, do not prefer charging at the front. They prefer using speed and finding weak points for Critical Hits, much like a group of assassins. But for Duanmu Huai, this didn’t matter; wearing Power Armor, he had no weaknesses whatsoever. Even if the Demons wanted to sneak an attack, Duanmu Huai would punch ahead of time, smashing them into pulp.

Soon, more and more Soldiers gathered at the square, joining the battle without hesitation. The beams flying across the sky quickly overwhelmed the Obsessive Sin Demon Army, mercilessly scorching them into fragments.

Finally, perhaps realizing they could no longer win, the Demons abruptly turned around and vanished in the blink of an eye.

"They ran pretty fast."

Duanmu Huai didn’t pursue them; this was a city with a population of millions, its main routes connecting everywhere, with countless streets and alleys. If the Demons were bent on hiding, Duanmu Huai wouldn’t easily find them.

Seeing the Demons disappear, Duanmu Huai shrugged his shoulders and turned to observe the Soldiers behind him. Many of them were wounded, but their morale seemed pretty high.

"You did quite well."

Duanmu Huai praised them.

"What about casualties?"

"We’ve not yet conducted a count, but for now, it seems the number of casualties is not very high."

The short-haired woman stepped forward to give a salute and report. She was now implicitly regarded as the Commander of this unit, and Duanmu Huai didn’t intend to replace her; after all, she was daring in battle, quick-witted, and generally very calm.

"Great Judge, is this what a Demon is?"

"Indeed. What do you think? Any thoughts?"

"It feels... these Demons seem to be misnamed?"

The short-haired woman knitted her brows, thought for a while, then spoke.

"Typically, aren’t all Demons supposed to use some mysterious Supernatural Powers? Yet these Demons, aside from having logic and intelligence compared to Zombies, don’t appear to be particularly strong in other aspects?"

"They’re adept at Mind Control."

Duanmu Huai waved his hand.

"You’ve seen it; these creatures can transform into any shape you desire, then you would be attracted and become a slave to their whims. They’re quite skilled in creating illusions and manipulating the mind, but in direct combat, it’s not their forte."

"Illusions?"

Upon hearing this, many Soldiers’ expressions became peculiar—Duanmu Huai knew without asking what they experienced, but he merely chuckled.

"And as to why it didn’t work, I think you already know, and I probably don’t need to spell it out."

Indeed, the Soldiers recalled that when they first faced these Monsters, they felt as if they were asleep, muddled, until the Judgement Court Badge tattooed on them suddenly warmed up and, like a beast, bit them; only then did everyone wake up. Thinking back, if they hadn’t, they probably would have become the opponent’s slaves.

[Special Squad 1158 Liaising Great Judge]

At this moment, another squad’s voice came through the communicator.

[We’ve discovered a survivor, offering to provide us with important intelligence]

"Oh?"

Upon hearing the report, Duanmu Huai raised his eyebrows.

"Tell me."
